Dear Sir or Madam,

I am pleased to write a letter of recommendation for Lindsey Garber. Lindsey completed her student
teaching in my classroom during the 2022-2023 school year. During this time, Lindsey showed an
admirable commitment to developing her skills as a teacher, as well as a genuine interest in building
relationships with her students.

I was most impressed by Lindsey's ability to quickly build meaningful relationships with the students in
her classroom, which I believe is the most important skill of all as teaching is first and foremost about
the students. Lindsey was able to develop strong connections with a diverse group of students,
connecting with them on a personal level and fostering a safe learning environment. I can think of one
student who was incredibly quiet and reserved to start the year, but eventually would come into the room
during passing time just to talk to Lindsey and let her know how he was doing.

From the very beginning, it was clear Lindsey was eager to learn and open to feedback. She was always
willing to try new ideas and approaches and was never afraid to ask for suggestions regarding planning,
instruction, classroom management, communication, and any of the other issues teachers deal with on a
daily basis. She welcomed observations from me and accepted my feedback, as well as from her
university supervisor and others. She would quickly internalize this feedback and incorporate it into her
practice by the next day, showing a true willingness to learn and grow as a professional.

In addition to accepting feedback, Lindsey incorporated her own ideas in the classroom. She planned
engaging and creative lessons for students, and frequently looked for ways to connect history from
hundreds of years ago to the lives and interests of students today. She was also willing to go the extra
mile for her students, often staying after school to provide additional support, whether it be for academic
assistance or test retakes. She would frequently have multiple students meeting with her at the end of the
day, and she never hesitated to accept when students would ask for help.

Overall, Lindsey showed exceptional growth throughout her time as a student teacher, increasing her
confidence and ability by the day. I highly recommend Lindsey for any teaching position. She is an
excellent teacher and mentor, and I am confident she will be a great asset to any school or educational
program.

Sincerely,

Ryan Irla
