I. Rationale
The Gulayan sa Paaralan Project shall be implemented in all public elementary and secondary
schools. according to DepEd Memorandum No. 223 s. 2016, entitled "Strengthening the
Implementation of GULAYAN SA PAARALAN (GPP) in Public Elementary and Secondary
Schools Nationwide, "to address Malnutrition and promote vegetable production and consumption
among school children.
This memorandum is issued to sustain school gardens, not only to support sustainable gardens
at present but also to establish gardens in schools nationwide. The GPP was issued and
implemented through DepEd Memorandum No. 293, s. 2007 entitled Gulayan sa Paaralan. This
Program is an activity that aims to promote proper nutrition and mitigate hunger among learners.
Eating the correct number of fruits and vegetables will help develop the body and minds of the
students, and that's why all schools are encouraged to have this kind of Program.
In response to the Gulayan sa Paaralan Memorandum, DM_2016_223 is STRENGTHENING
THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE GPP of the public school to continue the implementation of
the Program.
For the academic year 2023 and this coming school year, the GPP Coordinator would like to
propose the project READY SET PLANT.
II. General Objective
This project aims to ensure the quality of education by surpassing malnutrition among Grade
7 to Grade 10 students. To strengthen the Department of Education’s mission to provide quality
education by providing laboratory facilities to the students.
Specific Objective:
Establish Gulayan sa Paaralan as a laboratory facility that promotes learning to every student.
Maintain school garden as vegetable sources to sustain school feeding.
To practice and develop students in planting vegetables.
Provide a sense of responsibility to the students and teacher in charge of maintaining the said
facility.
Actively engage and share responsibility with stakeholders in the construction and
management of the facility.
Encourage and motivate them in vegetable gardening and helps them to realize the
importance of vegetable production.
III. Target Beneficiaries
A. Students under-wasted and severely wasted based on the report of Baseline for the School Year
2021-2022.
B. Students. With the implementation of Gulayan sa Paaralan projects, the students can have
hands-on activity in vegetable production and start learning and gaining skills in vegetable
gardening.
C. Teachers. This project will aid the teachers in teaching agriculture to the students.
D. Parents. Adopt good practices of the students and teachers in planting vegetables to bring the
techniques at home or in their community.
IV. Project Description
The LGU, school facilities, GPP Coordinator in charge, teachers, and students shall, hand and
hand, share responsibility in the construction and management of Gulayan sa Paaralan. with the
full support and guidance of the Administrators.
The Gulayan sa Paaralan of CALLAO NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL gives or sustains the
nutrition of malnourished students to improve the student's skills in the field of agriculture,
particularly those who are studying Technology and Liivelihood Education- TLE.

The fund source will come from MOOE, LGU and Brigada Eskwela Donation from the
stakeholders.

VII. Resources Needed
A. Human Resources
The success in the implementation of Gulayan sa Paaralan involves the human resources
that includes the LGU school facility in-charge, GPP Coordinator, teachers, and with the full
support of the administrators.
B. Materials
The materials needed for the implementation of Gulayan sa Paaralan are construction
materials, fertilizer, and garden tools.
VIII. Monitoring and Evaluation
The monitoring and evaluation of the Gulayan sa Paaralan will be done by the GPP
Coordinator, TLE Teachers, School Principals, and District Supervisor. The assessment will be
done at the end of the project implementation and after harvesting the vegetables. Submitted
documents like the quantity of harvested vegetables, documentation, accomplishment, and
financial report is success indicator of the project.

X. Sustainability
After the post-evaluation, the result and findings shall be considered in revising and
improving the program's implementation for the next school year. A more comprehensive
enhancement shall be developed based on the experience in the Project READY SET PLANT.

program.
