Customer Service

When I was head of production at Industries Ferrotodo, one of the things that I used to do was
to see if we were able to produce a different type of product then the ones that were in our
catalogue for customers. The ones we produced regularly. So, the customer would contact the
sales department and give them all the details about the product that they wanted made and
then the sales department would contact me to see if you are able to produce it.

One time a co-worker from the sales department gave me a call and said that a customer
wanted a specific type of product and I told him that we were not able to produce it because
of the specifications of the machine. 5-minutes the same guy from the sales department gave
me a call back and said that the customer was not taking a no for an answer and asked to
speak with me. Surprisingly enough this person was German and was struggling to speak
Spanish and explaining everything he wanted to the guy from the sales department.

I asked him if it was better to speak in English and he said yes so, he explained to me what he
wanted but unfortunately, we weren't able to produce it either but at that moment I had an
idea about changing and modifying some parts of our machine. I didn't know if it would work
so I told him that I would give him a call back the day after with a final answer. I ended up
staying 4 hours after my shift with the head of maintenance and some other engineers but we
were able to modify the machine and produce it. I gave the customer a call and needless to say
he was extremely happy. Up to this day he is a regular costumer from industries ferrotodo.

Out and beyond what Was required

So before I was hired at industrial I remember overheard the plant manager saying something
about an equipment that wasn't working properly. They had tried multiple things to solve the
problem but they just couldn't do it so they needed somebody that spoke English to
communicate with the equipment provider from Germany.

I immediately said that I spoke english and that I could help translating.

I ended up going to the production plant with the plant manager at 3am to speak with the
equipment provider and solving the problem.

The plant manager said that I helped save thousands of dollars and requested Human
resources to get me hired.

A difficult Co-worker

I remember when I first got promoted to head of production at industrial I had two assistants.
One was very good and the other one was excellent. He knew everything. he knew how the
software worked, He communicated very well with the operators but he didn't like me. Every
time I ask him to do something for me he would take forever to do it he would very bad
excuses. So I had two choices, I could fire him and a waste all his potential or I could actually
get to know him and build a relationship with them so, I chose the latter.

So one day, 10 minutes i'm before lunchtime I asked him to go with me and review some
documents. Instead of reviewing two files I took him to very good restaurant and we ended up
having lunch and having really good conversation. As a matter of fact, we had very similar taste
in music and we ended up bonding over that and. He basically became my right hand and until
this day we still speak.
