The SUSTAIN WASTE BIN project is a project where we, the volunteers will be going
to the area wherein the garbage was scattered among the streets. Our target
location is Western Bicutan, Taguig City because based on our observation, a lot of
garbage was scattered there and with that problem, we will put trash bin from
different location on that area to help the community to be clean and to control the
littering of a garbage.
This project omits to sustain or maintain the waste bins in the community to create
a system where valuable products are used on-site and solid waste is separated at
the home level. Good waste management practices include segregating, reducing,
reusing, recycling, and composting. By encouraging people to use fewer of the
things that end up in waste in the first place, a community waste program seeks to
reduce waste over the long run. Focusing on waste prevention, understanding
garbage disposal, and understanding how waste issues affect the local
environment's land, air, and water resources and other living creatures are all
essential components of a project to reduce waste.
Companies including Coca-Cola, Nestle, and Universal Robina have been named
among the top plastic polluters in the Philippines. Annually, with just
approximately 30% of these being recycled. Therefore, we must find a solution to
this serious issue. The majority of these wastes wind up in the ocean, harming both
human health and aquatic life and animals. By establishing garbage bins in one of
the barangays in Taguig, we want to minimize the consumption of solid waste using
the information we have obtained.
According to our observation, as a student and a citizen, the community of
Western Bicutan needs help in waste management. Apart from the daily
garbage collection, the community needs more cleaning operations. Our
environment has a huge impact on our well-being, for this reason we must be
maintaining its cleanliness. This project is conducted aiming for a cleaner
environment and a waste management being practiced on a daily basis.
By keeping usable items out of landfills, trash reduction, recycling, and reuse.
Irresponsible dumping of waste. This kind of misconduct keeps happening in a
community. It is a bad habit that has spread to certain people who are unable to
control where or how they discard their trash. Flooding, river pollution, and
disease spread. These are only a few consequences of our residents' poor
rubbish disposal.
One of the main issues facing most modern towns is garbage. Most individuals
are unsure of where else to dispose of these garbage because of their constant
growth. We almost all litter around; one illustration of this are the candy skins
we consume. Even though it seems insignificant to you, there is still an issue. In
addition, it contributes to floods during the rainy season by blocking canals or
rivers owing to poor storage of the trash in one location or on the roadways,
which results in serious flooding. This also contributes to the community's
numerous ailments.
Citizens of Taguig/Taguigeño
(All ages, Gender: Female, Male & LGBTQ+)
The objectives of our project is to keep our city clean and to make our Filipino
people's lives easier by simply throwing their garbage in the appropriate waste
bins. Also, protecting them from flash floods caused by many plastic waste
blocks in the drainage due to improper disposal and a lack of proper waste bins,
and encouraging everyone to properly segregate their waste.
Enhancing the efficiency and convenience of garbage collection by making it
easier for maintenance crews to access and empty multiple trash cans at once.
Improving the overall aesthetic of the area by keeping trash cans out of sight
and grouped together in designated locations. Reducing litter and pollution by
encouraging people to properly dispose of their waste. Increasing recycling rate
by providing dedicated recycling bins. Improving the safety of the area by
reducing the presence of stray trash that can attract pests or create hazards.
To enhance community outdoor recreation, reducing waste, recycling, and
usage, and to raise public knowledge of waste management and environmental
issues.
