Installation time approx. 1.0 hour.
The installation time may vary depending on the condition of the car and the equipment in it.
All work is shown for a left-hand drive model. On right-hand drive models some of the work must be completed
the opposite way round.
Target group
The target group for these installation instructions is personnel which have been trained on BMW cars.

BMW cannot accept any liability for damaged caused by failure to follow the procedures and safety notes.
In addition if the component is installed and handled improperly and not as set out in the installation and
operating instructions, the warranty provided by BMW AG will be rendered void.
Before installing the bracket, please read the following:
If the driver's or front passenger seat must be removed and installed, please refer to the safety instructions for
handling airbag modules and belt tensioners in the BMW diagnosis and information system (DIS).
Tools and equipment required
Ring spanner, 8 mm
1/2 inch reversible ratchet
1/2 inch socket, size 17 mm
1/2 inch socket, size T 50
1/4 inch reversible ratchet
1/4 inch socket, size 10 mm
1/4 inch socket, size 8 mm

2 Self-tapping screw, 8x13, with washer
3 Hexagonal screw, M5x12, with washer
4 Hexagonal nut
5 Hexagonal screws, M6x16, with washer
6 Speed nuts

2. Installation
Please note

Preliminary work .................................................... Remove the driver's seat, see current repair manual.

1 Speed nuts (1)....................................................... Insert into the recesses in the underside of the seat.
2 Bracket (2)............................................................. Place on the underside of the seat.
3 Hexagonal self-tapping screws with washers (3) ... Screw into the speed nuts.
4 Hexagonal screw, M5x12, with washer (4).............. Bolts to the hexagonal nut on the seat sub-frame and
secure bracket (2).
5 Fire extinguisher holder (5)..................................... Place on the bracket.
6 Securing tape (6) ................................................... Position between the bracket and the fire extinguisher
holder (5) and ensure that the positioning journal on
the securing tape engages in the hole in the fire
extinguisher holder (5).
7 Hexagonal screws, M6x16, with washers (7) .......... Screw into the bracket to secure the fire extinguisher
holder (5).
8 Fire extinguisher (8) ............................................... Fit into the fire extinguisher holder.
9 Buckle (9) .............................................................. Close the securing tape.
Instructions for removing and using the fire extinguisher are given in the operating instructions entitled
"Operating instructions for 1 kg ABC powder fire extinguisher", which is supplied with the fire extinguisher.
Affix the sticker "F" supplied with the fire extinguisher in a suitable position, for example on the inside of the
rear screen at the bottom right.
