Scope and Limitation of Research

This research will assess water resources in two villages in Gasanze cell to identify the impacts on public health and determine current and future water demands. The researcher will observe and survey residents to evaluate water quality, quantity needed, and recommend solutions. Key questions address the effects of water sources on health, water collection distances, and policies to satisfy demands. The goal is to solve clean water shortages through stakeholder involvement and recommendations to the water authority. A descriptive survey design was used with random sampling of the target population in Gasanze cell. Data collection methods and research instruments are described along with limitations.

Scope and Limitation of Research

This project research is limited to an assessment of water resources found in two villages
(Nyarubande, Nyakabungo) located in the Gasanze cell. by the end, we will identify the Impacts
of water sources in this region and determine the present and future demands of water required to
supply Gasanze cells.
By observing and questioning habitats in this region, findings will be used to assess adverse
impacts on public health with regard to the water quality standards, the quantity of water needed
will be identified and measures to harvest all available sources would be highly recommended.
Research questions
In order to be specific on the problem statement certain questions should be asked:
 What effect does water sources have on health status in Gasanze cell?
 How far did you fetch clean water?
 What are policies and strategies shall be used to satisfies water demands in Gasanze cell.
The hypothesis of this research project will be technically used to solve shortage of clean water
resources in gasanze cell by including all habitats in order to minimizing water related Diseases
and improving social-economic development.
Technical contribution of research
 Results from this research will recommend Water and Sanitation Corporation (WASAC)
to identify level of water needed in satisfying peoples of Gasanze cell.
 This research project should recommend stakeholders to invest in social-economic
activities.
 It will improve awareness of people on water related Diseases in Gasanze cell.
 Outcome of research will help in flood control recommending people to implements rain
water harvesting system.
CHAPTER 3: METHODOLOGY OF THE STUDY

3.1. Introduction

This chapter is the main part of this project, it consists and explains in details the methods used
in this project which include; the research design, the target population, the sample size and the
sampling procedure and data collection techniques to collect the required information
concerning water demands and supply system. It describes also the area of study, source of the
required information on the project and the limitations on data collection.

3.2. Description of the study Area

Gasanze cell is one of urban area in Kigali city, Gasabo district, Nduba sector lived by 6000
peoples, access to safe clean water is still problem where some of people drink water from
fountain of Agasoko, Nyakariba and Nyarubande both located in Nyakariba and Nyarubande
village, this region is located downhill of Nduba landfill and fountain located in Nyabugogo
catchment which are mostly polluted by anthropomorphic (OMARA et al,2020). remaining ones
relies on rain water harvested during rainy season and being stored in tanks, municipal water in
this region is rare, Water and sanitation Authority does not put in action supply and distribution
program treatment and supply in order to come up with result that can handle problem of
contaminated and inefficiency of water in Gasanze cell.

3.3. Research design

Research design chosen was descriptive survey, samples of populations where chooses randomly
to represent whole region by preparing questionnaire, information gathered from survey helps us
to identifies impact in overall population of gasanze by determining both demands and impact to
social economic development in Gasanze cell as well as Nduba Sector.
3.4. Target population

Targeted population in this research are people lived in Gasanze cell Especially those in
Nyarubande and Nyakariba village, we will involve both youth and adult to be familiar with
both past and current scenarios of water resources in Gasanze cell.

3.5. Sample size and sampling procedure

3.6. Data collection methods
3.7. Research instruments
3.8. Limitation of data collection
