Fishing is an integral part of the Akarn lifestyle. The following Barbel 10 12 1-2 1-3 - 1-2
section details fish one might expect to find in these lands, where Bream 9 11 3-6 4-11 1-2 3
to find them, and other related details. These fish are all beasts, Brown Trout 10 13 7-10 12-16 3-12 4-7
Carp 12 18 11 17-18 13-22 8-15
and qualify as viable forms a druid might use for wildshape, or a Catfish 11 16 12-15 19-24 23-32 16-23
polymorph spell might transform a target into. Chub 10 11 16-17 25-27 - 24
For fishing, first one determines the bait used (if any), then Dace 10 11 18-19 28-30 - 25
casts a rod (or net) with a Wisdom (Survival) check. Then, the DM Grayling 9 11 20-21 31-33 - 26
Gudgeon 9 10 22-23 34-35 - 27
first rolls a d% to determine if the fish will be a giant-sized fish (d% Bass 12 16 24 36-40 33-42 28-35
1-10 in salt water, d% 1-5 in fresh water), then rolls the d% again Minnow 8 9 25-28 41-45 - 36
from the bait chart to determine which fish can be caught (if any) Perch 10 12 29-30 46-49 - 37-40
based on the survival vs. catch DC, and determined fish rolled by Pike 15 19 31 50-51 43-45 41-44
Rainbow Trout 11 13 32-33 52-56 46-55 45-52
the DM. These percentages can be changed by the DM, Roach 10 11 34-35 57-61 56-60 53-56
depending on season/condition. Rudd 9 12 36-37 62-63 - 57-59
If the initial Wisdom (Survival) check result is at least 16, you Ruffe 9 10 38-39 64-65 - 60-63
can choose a type of fish to search for, fishing in areas where they Salmon 12 16 - 66-68 61-70 64-71
Stickleback 8 9 40 69-70 - 72-75
are greater, which will get them on a d% 91-100 when rolling to
determine the fish. If the check result was 8 or more less than the
catch DC of the fish determined, then the line breaks, losing the
hook and bait. If the total result was 3 or less, then it snags, and
must be manually retrieved somehow using practical means.
When using Fishing Tackle, you can choose to use either a
Small or Large fishing hook. Using a small hook will only catch fish
with a Catch DC of 14 or less; large hook catches only DC 14 or
greater. When using a fishing net, it will only snag fish with a
Catch DC 11 or greater. Specially made small mesh fishing nets
can snag fish with a Catch DC 14 or less.
