1. PROJECT BACKGROUND
TDN inverter project was originally known as Sigma. Main reason for the project was risk management and due to
that second supplier policy.

TDN is defined to be default inverter for Q-cranes in bridge and trolley (except with basic electrics where TMK is
used in trolley).

Inverter location and type

Electrics classification Trolley Bridge
Basic TMK TDN
Standard TDN TDN
Special w/o CID TMK TDN
Special with CID TDN TDN

D2C will be in use when inverter power rating is not enough

2. PRODUCT FEATURES

Current ratings* 3,4A; 6,8A; 10,4A; 19,2A; 33,8A

Mains connection 380 – 480 Vac, Other voltages with additional transformer
Ambient operating temperature –10°C …+50°C (Note! This is for the device itself, not hoist or crane)
Keypad 4-digit display, 5 buttons
Enclosure ratings IP20
Certificates CE, cULus
*Applications requiring more than 33,8A will be done with the D2C inverter

5. PRODUCT ARGUMENTATION
5.1. Customer benefits
• Uniform technology and spare parts. TDN only, not many different series
(DMCS/D2M/TMN) anymore
• Easy to use, due to common user interface with display and large size switches
• CAN capability for easier connection of optional features
• Standard thermal protection by Klixon
• The benefits of inverters vs. dual speed drives:
o Smooth acceleration and deceleration
o Adjustable ramps for individual setting of acceleration and deceleration
o Less load sway than on dual speed motors: increased safety
o Less shocks inflicted to gears, motors and crane structure
o Less motor starts than with dual speed drives, less heat, extended motor lifetime
o No contactors needed. Less maintenance, less spare parts,
o Extended brake lifetime
o No slipping clutches needed (which are used on Abus drives)

5.2. Internal benefits

• Possibility to find most economical solution
• Possibility to lower CAN technology product cost
• Reliable supply chain, independent of a single supplier
