Biodiversity

The document discusses biodiversity and related concepts. It defines biodiversity as the variety of life on Earth, including plants, animals, fungi and microorganisms. The document contains an activity where the reader puts check marks next to whether they agree or disagree with statements about the environment based on evidence. Another activity discusses how to reconcile human needs with biodiversity protection, such as using renewable energy, recycling, sustainable farming and reducing pollution.

differences.

Biodiversity

 Biodiversity  is  shortened  form  of  words  from  "biological"  and  "diversity"

 Biodiversity  is  defined  as  different  kinds  of  life  that  can  be  found  in  one  area/place.

 It  refers  to  all  the  variety  of  life  that  can  be  found  on  Earth.

1. Plants

2. Animals

ACTIVIVITY 4

How would you reconcile the emerging needs of human beings regarding their health and the
need to protect the biodiversity?

1. Use of Renewable sources of energy so as to avoid the consumption of fossil fuels along with the
use of energy efficient devices.

2. Using Recycled material like recycling of paper which helps to save the environment and trees.

3. Do not do overfishing to prevent the vanishing of aquatic habitat from any water body.

4. establishment of small organic farms so as to increase greenery and hence oxygen level in the
environment, growing of more and more trees. Promoting afforestation and stopping
deforestation.

5. Demanding of better quality food and hence leads to the decreased use of fertilizers and
pesticides in the environment which provides better quality land.
