Tendon Reflex Assessment Scales

The document describes three common scales used in medical assessments of tendon reflexes: the Mayo Clinic scale ranging from -4 (absent) to +4 (continuous clonus), a common 0+ to 4+ scale where 0+ is absent and 4+ is sustained response, and the Medical Research Council grading scale ranging from - to ++++ where - is absent and ++++ is pathologically brisk with clonus. Each scale provides a standardized language for clinicians to grade the intensity of tendon reflex responses.
