DUAL DISC CHECK VALVES

API 6D / API 594 Features

The Dual Disc Check Valve is designed to provide flow in one
Cast Steel / Forged direction and close rapidly when back-flow occurs. Dual Disc
Steel responds automatically to block flowing fluid in one direction and,
prevents reverse flow. When fluid entering the valve it forces the
two disc to open fully, until they touch-on disc stop pin. In case of a
Long Pattern
counter flow or pump shut-down, valve closes rapidly with help of
the torsion springs.
Minimize Slamming The valve could be installed in both horizontal and vertical
positions.
Pressure Drop
• Dual disc check valves are light and compact in comparison to
standard check valves and have lower installation cost.
• With Dual Disc design the valve pressure drop is reduced,
especially compared to standard check valves.
• Cracking pressure is about 0,2 psi at horizontal pipeline.
• Torsion springs on plates provide tight seal and minimize plates
slamming.
• Eliminate the water hammer or shock in pipelines during shut-
off and/or start-up of the pumps.

An important concept in check valves is cracking pressure, which

is the minimum upstream pressure at which the valve will operate
automatically.
Cracking pressure will be different depending on horizontal or
vertical installation in the line.
A wide variety of design and materials in VASTAS productions
allows application for different gas and fluid in different industries.

Applications
VASTAS Dual Disc Check Valves are used in
wide range of fluid and gas process lines such as
petroleum refining, power generation, chemical and
petrochemical industries. This valve should be used
for clean fluids and it is not recommended for fluids
containing suspended solids such as wastewater.

Valves Type

Extensive range of materials, sizes and pressure

classes are available. VASTAS dual disc check valves
are produced in 3 basic body style which are Wafer
type, Lug type, and Double Flanged type. In the Lug
type, the through and threaded holes are optionally
manufactured upon customers request. The ring
joint - type is also available for both Lug type and
Double Flanged type.
