Indonesian Folktale: Bali Strait

1) The story describes the origins of the Bali Strait according to local legend. 2) A man named Manik Angkeran was gifted treasure by his father Sidi Mantra but squandered it gambling, so his father sought help from a dragon spirit. 3) Eventually Manik Angkeran learned of the dragon's treasure and tried to steal more, but was burned to ashes as a result of cutting the dragon's tail. His father was able to revive him on the condition he change his ways. 4) Sidi Mantra then parted from his son, transforming into a water source that became the strait separating Java and Bali islands.
