"THE ORIGIN OF LAKE TOBA":
Once upon a time, in the heart of Sumatra, lived a humble farmer named Toba. He lived alone,
tending to his crops and fishing in the river. One day, he caught a fish that magically transformed
into a beautiful woman. She was a fairy who had been cursed. Toba fell in love with her and they
got married under one condition – her true identity must remain a secret.
They lived happily and had a son named Samosir. However, as Samosir grew up, he became
greedy and lazy. One day, in his hunger and impatience, he called his mother "fish" unknowingly
breaking the promise made to her.
Suddenly, the earth shook and dark clouds covered the sky. The fairy, in her grief and anger,
summoned a great flood. Toba's house was drowned, and the whole village was submerged in
water. This was how Lake Toba was formed.
Toba and Samosir were separated by the water, with Toba on one side and Samosir on the other.
They were transformed into the islands in the middle of the lake, where they remain till this day.
