Test gauge set - is used by the technician to determine the existing pressures in the high and low side of
the unit.
Magnifying mirrors are used by many technicians for detecting leaks in refrigerating machines, where
soap and water or oil are used as leak detector.
Pipe cutters - These are used to cut pipes into to1 inches, resulting in a square cut.
Tube cutter - It is used to cut copper tubing from sizes" to" outside the diameter by means of a saw and
a flaring block.
Bending tools - These are used to make accurate bends.
Pinching jaws are so designed that the tubing is pinched shut but not mashed.
Open-end wrenches - These are used when unbolting parts of valves, compressors, and motors among
others.
Crescent wrench - It is used to turn the nut, with the solid jaw at the right, according to the direction on
which the nut is turned.
Center punch - It is used to mark before taking any part of any machine and is important when pistons
and duplicate parts are affected.
Hacksaw - It is used in very close quarters because its blade is narrow and set with fine teeth.
Oil cans - These are suited to check the bearings of all motors and see to it that they are oiled and
running cool.
Valve keys - These are used to open or close a valve with and 1/16, 1/4, and 5/16 inch openings.
Tube cutter - It is a type of tool used by a technician in cutting tubes for RAC servicing tasks.
Round file - It can also be used for shaping parts.
Half-round file- It is made of hardened steel and is also used for shaping or enlarging holes if a round file
is insufficient.
Globe valve - Branch supply lines are equipped with globe valves.
Angled shutoff valve - This is used when the supply pipe, called a stub-out, comes from the
wall.
PVC primer and PVC solvent cement - These are used to put pipes and fittings in place.
Supply fittings - These are used to join pipes designed to work under pressurized conditions.
Supply valves - These are devices that control the flow of water through the pipes.
Measuring is getting the size of materials or the needed size using the standard measures.
Steel Tape Measure - one of the most widely used tools in measuring length, width, and distance in
plumbing works.
Nominal pipe sizing (NPS) Is the most commonly used method in sizing pipes.
Plumbing drawings are composed of lines and symbols that show how liquids, gases, or solids
are conveyed to different locations in a structure.
Checking the Condition of Tools and Equipment
1. Perform the basic preventive maintenance.
2. Maintain a habit of cleaning up tools and equipment. Always keep all cutting tools, such as pipe
cutters, sharp.
3. Keep all tools in good and safe condition for use. For damaged or broken tools, attach a "Do not use"
tag and immediately notify the foreman.
4. Create a habit of cleaning and maintaining your own work space. Clean as you work and clean as you
go. Good maintenance of the work space is essential.
5. Use trash bins if available. If not, designate a place for wastes to be piled for easier cleaning after
work.
