Timing belt: removal/installation


General
Always check the timing marks before timing belt removal

Before disconnecting the battery cable, check the audio system security code
Note: Different tensioners are used (a, b)

Raise the vehicle
Disconnect the battery
Remove the right front wheel
Remove the right front splash guard
Remove the engine lower cover
Fit the special tool to support the engine (mot. 1453-01)

Fit the idler pulley (45 Nm)

Tension the timing belt
Use an Allen key (6 mm)

Using a 6 mm Allen key, turn the tensioner clockwise until the moveable pointer is 7 - 8 mm to the
right of the fixed pointer

Tighten the tensioner pulley nut (7 Nm)
Fit the crankshaft pulley
