bushings. Refer to Chapter 52, Entrance Door - Maintenance Practices.

NOTE: Perform lubrication in accordance with schedule provided in Chapter 5, Inspection Time Limits, and
whenever high pressure washing is performed in and around the door hinge area.
NOTE: When lubricating the door hinges and hinge bolts, the door must be closed and latched. Remove,
lubricate and install one hinge bolt at a time.
(1) Gain access to the main entrance door hinge bolts.
(a) With the entrance door open, separate the forward and aft spade door cable terminals from their respective tee
brackets by removing cotter pins, nuts and bolts. Allow the spade door to hinge open.
(2) Close and latch the main entrance door.
WARNING: Do not open door with door hinge bolts removed; damage to hinge, door and/or injury to personnel can
result.
CAUTION: Place a sign on the door, caution, do not open door - maintenance on door in progress.
(3) Remove one of the hinge bolts by removing the cotter pin, nut and washers. If removal of the hinge bolt is difficult due to
bolt being seized to a bushing(s), refer to Chapter 52, Entrance Door - Maintenance Practices.
NOTE: If the removed hinge bolt is not chrome plated stainless steel, it must be replaced with a
NAS6708DE42 hinge bolt which is chrome plated stainless steel.
(4) Clean and examine the hinge bushings for corrosion. If the bushings are corroded, they must be replaced. The
replacement bushings are stainless steel. Refer to the Model 650 Illustrated Parts Catalog, Chapter 52 for the replacement
bushings.
WARNING: Do not open the entrance door with only one hinge bolt installed. Damage to the hinge will result.
(a) If it has been determined that the bushings must be replaced, refer to Chapter 52, Entrance Door - Maintenance
Practices for replacement of the hinge bushings.
(b) If examination of the hinge bushings reveals no corrosion or damage, lubricate the hinge bolt, bushings and hinge
fingers with grease (MIL-G-23827 or MIL-G- 81322).
1 Coat the inside diameter of the bushings, the bolt shank and the hinge fingers mating surfaces.
(5) Install and secure hinge bolt with washers and nut (bolts to be installed with heads away from each other). A washer is
installed under the bolt head and one under the nut. Hinge bolt should be tightened to a snug fit only, so as not to produce a
bind on the hinge. Install cotter pin.
(6) Perform items (3) through (5) above for the opposite hinge bolt to be lubricated.
(7) Reconnect (and adjust if required) the forward and aft spade door cable terminals to their respective tee brackets, with
bolts, nuts and cotter pins.
B. Main Entrance Door Hinge Bolts Lubrication (Airplanes -0090 and On and Airplanes -0001 thru - 0089) with stainless steel
hinge bolts and bushings. Refer to Chapter 52, Entrance Door - Maintenance Practices.
