CORROSION PREVENTION CONTROL MANUAL
CARGO DOOR — CORROSION PREVENTION
1. Cargo Door
    A. General
The cargo door, when provided, is located on the right side of the fuselage and provides a means for
loading / unloading cargo and equipment. The door opening is 62.56 inches X 81.5 inches and is
       hydraulically operated. See Figure 101.
Areas for possible corrosion are the internal and external structure of the door, especially the inside
lower corners, connection points and mechanisms.
Inspection and preventive action for the above item(s) is optional for operator developed corrosion
       prevention programs.
    B. Corrosion Prevention
        (1) General Philosophy
The basic corrosion prevention philosophy is to take the actions necessary to preclude or detect
early stages of corrosion and to address the conditions that could lead to corrosion by:
             (a) Performing all Maintenance Manual, Chapter 5 specified corrosion inspections and
                 preventive actions.
             (b) Performing any operator selected CPCM, Corrosion Inspection and Detection, 20-51-00,
General and Standard Preventive Maintenance Methods, 20-53-00, Corrosion Prevention
type optional inspections and / or optional preventive actions (i.e., any not included in
Maintenance Manual, Chapter 5 required actions).
              (c) Responding to the conditions that have created potential or actual corrosion.
NOTE: Based on the aircraft operating environment and individual operator specific
needs, each operator should develop and implement a corrosion prevention
program utilizing the above philosophy tailored to minimize the development of
                        corrosion in their aircraft.
        (2) Corrosion Inspection and Removal
             (a) After cleaning, visual inspection with bright lighting and simple magnifying devices can
identify the existence of most corrosion. If visual inspection is not effective or if the extent
of corrosion needs to be determined, see Corrosion Inspection and Detection, 20-51-00,
General for an applicable inspection method.
             (b) If any corrosion is found, refer to the Structural Repair Manual or contact Gulfstream
Customer Support for corrosion removal and control assistance.
        (3) Preventive Action
             (a) At the first opportunity when scheduled maintenance is being performed in the area,
corrosion inspection and preventive action should be accomplished.
             (b) Apply Type II, Type III, Type IV, Type VII or Type VIII corrosion inhibiting / water displacing
compound as described in Standard Preventive Maintenance Methods, 20-53-00,
Corrosion Prevention to the interior structure of the door with special attention given to
connection points, mechanisms, lower corners and any area that may experience water
                 entrapment.
              (c) After application of corrosion inhibitor, all grease fittings and lubricated parts in treated
areas should be relubricated. Refer to the Maintenance Manual for areas of application
                                                                                         52-35-00
                                                                                                     Page 101
                                                                                                   March 31/21

and types of lubricants / grease to use.
          (4) Frequency of Action
               (a) Chapter 5 of the Maintenance Manual specifies inspection intervals as well as intervals for
                   any preventive actions required.
               (b) Inspection and / or preventive action intervals for operator selected optional items will vary
depending upon the aircraft operating environment and the locations within the aircraft.
Operators should monitor conditions to determine the intervals necessary to maintain the
                   corrosion prevention effectiveness desired.
The following is a guideline preventive action interval based on a moderate operating
environment (see Corrosion Standard Practices, 20-50-00, General) which can be used
until operators can establish intervals tailored for their individual circumstances:
Preventive action for optional items can be accomplished at 18 month intervals.
