SESSION: 7
Guided meditation sessions were held at Astika Samajam, Chennai. It was started
two years ago. Now we are in Session 7.
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 1 was also
chanted.
POSTURE
Be seated in any posture that is comfortable to you. If you cannot sit down, use a
chair. Stay in the posture for 15 to 30 minutes. This is the preliminary step in
meditation. Success in this is called asana siddhi. Getting asana siddhi itself is an
achievement. It will come by regular practice.
Clasp your fingers and place them on your lap. The body, neck and head are in a
straight line without being rigid or stiff. Straight but relaxed. Face looking straight.
Eyes are gently closed. This is the posture. Make sure the entire body is relaxed
especially the joints. Right from the neck joint up to the ankle joint every joint is
relaxed. Relaxing the body helps me in forgetting the body.
BREATHING
MIND
Give a strong auto suggestion that I will ignore all worldly thoughts if they arise in
the mind. Let them wait outside until I complete my meditation. With this
preparation, we practice different forms of meditation based on scriptural teaching.
In Bhagavad Gita Chapter 18 Verse 58, Lord Krishna gives assurance to all devotees.
Significant assurance to all bhaktas.

“Maccittah sarvdurgani matprasadat tarisyasi”. The one who remembers me the
Lord, that devotee will overcome all obstacles in life. All obstacles in spiritual life, all
problems, all challenges my devotee shall cross over remembering me.
This assurance is very significant for every bhakta. The more I dwell upon this, the
more valid it becomes. I convert this awareness into self-confidence. As a bhakta, I
am confident that I shall cross over any obstacle that may come. Self-confidence is
the greatest asset the bhakta derives from his bhakti. Every single day, I invoke the
Lord, invoke the assurance of the Lord and derive self-confidence.
SELF CONFIDENCE
I do not know my future, what problems are waiting for. But I do not care. I am
confident that I shall cross over any obstacle, any problem, any challenge from any
direction. The problems may be adyatmikam (from my own body), adi bhautikam
(other living beings) or adi deivikam (from forces of nature).
SESSION: 8
DATE: June 21, 2021
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 2 was also
chanted.
POSTURE
Sit in any comfortable posture either on the ground or on a chair. Eyes are gently
closed. The fingers are clasped together and placed on the lap. The body, neck and
head are erect and at the same time relaxed. Asana siddhi is the ability to sit in a
posture for about 15 to 20 minutes without changing the posture.
This is possible by regular practice.
RELAXATION
I relax the body from top to toe. I focus on various joints in the body - neck,
shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knees and ankles. When relaxation is complete, we will
feel disembodied. I will float as it were. We won’t experience the location.
This also happens as per practice.

BREATHING
MIND
I give strong autosuggestion to the mind that the following few minutes, I am not
going to deliberately think of worldly affairs. There are so many things to be done.
Let them wait. I would like to use 100% of my mind for meditation. Even if other
thoughts try to invade, I ignore them. I will never co-operate with them. With such a
mind, I can practice different types of meditation.
I have 100% shraddha in the words of the Lord. Therefore I am confident that I as
a devotee will cross over any difficulty I may come across. I do not know the
problem. I need not know the problem. Let them come as per the law of karma.
Every human being has to face ups and downs. I can never be an exception. But
based on Bhagavan's assurance I am very sure that I can handle my future. I have
all the resources of Bhagavan within me. I am not afraid of my future.
SELF CONFIDENCE
Self-confidence is the only medicine for fear. Anxiety, tension, stress, worry all are
different expressions of fear. Fear is the most powerful expression of samsara. Most
of the time our mind is gripped in one form of fear or the other. There will always be
disturbing events happening around in the macro world. We are constantly exposed
to this information coming from different sources through different media. The result
is continuous emotional disturbance and agitation. We never know what relaxation
is.

calmness with cheerfulness. I will enjoy the Lord’s gift of today. I am calm,
cheerful and confident.
SESSION: 9
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 3 was also
chanted.
POSTURE
Sit in a comfortable posture. Fingers of the hand clasped together and placed on the
lap. Body, neck and head are kept erect without stiffness. Eves are closed gently.
Face looks straight. Relax the body, neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and
ankles. I pay attention to the body, so that I can forget the body later.
Annamaya kosa is relaxed.
BREATHING
Now pranamaya kosa. Become aware of the process of breathing. It is this breathing
that keeps me alive. This is the life process, valuable and sacred. This is generally
taken for granted. I make sure that the breathing is smooth, rythemic and relaxed.
This process helps me in withdrawing my attention from the external world.
MIND
After relaxing pranamaya, I come to manomaya kosa, the mind. This instrument I
am going to use for meditation. One type of meditation is self counselling based on
the scriptural teaching or auto counselling.
THREE RESOURCES
Bhagavan has blessed all human beings with three powerful resources. This is the
greatest blessing and greatest grace of the Lord- Jnana Sakthi, Icha Sakthi and Kriya
sakthi. Jnana sakthi, the power to know different goals of life, both short term and
long term. Icha sakthi, the power to choose appropriate goals and prioritise them
properly. Kriya sakthi, the power to accomplish and fulfil various goals.
4
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
RESPONSIBILITY
With these three inner resources, Bhagavan has given everything that we need. We
have nothing else to ask from Bhagavan. He has also given the external resource in
the form of scriptures, instructing how to use these resources. He has given us
everything. He expects us to take charge of our life and use these resources. Real
bakthi is expressing our gratitude to Bhagavan for giving these resources. Bakthi is
not asking for this and that.
Bhagavan instructs every human being to take responsibility. We cannot transfer this
to Bhagavan. In Bhagavad Gita, Bhagavan has told that a human being should lift
himself. He has provided the resources for that. Never weaken yourself by
entertaining thoughts of diffidence, by making complaints. I am my own friend, if I
take responsibility and decide to use these resources. I become my own enemy, if I
give up my responsibility and ignore the available resources.
GRATITUDE
A devotee always promises Bhagavan: I will use your grace, your gift. I will be a
responsible human being. I am very confident that I can get what I want with the
given resources. I have nothing to ask from the Lord. I have to express gratitude.
Spiritual life begins when I take charge of my life, being aware that I have all the
resources, nothing to ask, nothing to complain and I have to use Bhagavan’s gift.
We have to use bakthi to take charge of our life and not hand over the responsibility
to the Lord.
CONFIDENCE

First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 4 was also
chanted.
POSTURE
Sit in a comfortable posture. Fingers are clasped together and placed on the lap.
Body, neck and head kept erect without being stiff. Face looks in front. Eyes are
gently closed. Relax the body by mentally observing the joints of the body.
Watch the breath and relax the mind. The future is unknown, unpredictable and
uncontrollable. This leads to the fear of the future. Anxiety, tension, worry, concern
are all expressions of fear. Fear cannot go by mechanical recitation of prayer. Fear
can go away only by implementing the teachings of the scriptures.
RESPONSIBILITY
The remedy is changing the pattern of thinking. You alone have to lift yourself from
the mire of unhealthy patterns of thinking. Bhagavan has given jnana sakthi to
understand the problem, itcha sakthi to choose the solution and kriya sakthi to
implement the solution. Bhagavan has given the incentive that one who implements
His instructions will be free from fear.
ATMA KRIPA
CONFIDENCE
I am confident of myself and of the resources I have. No future event can be more
powerful than the resources I have. I am never afraid of my future. I do not know
my future. I need not know my future. But I know that I have Bhagavan and His
grace as the powerful resource. I am ready for the future. I will make use of my
future for my spiritual growth. I am ready and I welcome the future. I am CALM,
CHEERFUL AND CONFIDENT. This courage is born of my faith in Bhagavan and
His teachings. I mentally repeat these words and see the meaning: I am CALM,
CHEERFUL AND CONFIDENT.

Sarve bavantu sukinaha......Om Santi Santi Santi.
SESSION: 11
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 5 was also
chanted.
POSTURE
Sit in a comfortable posture. Fingers are clasped together and placed on the lap.
Body, neck and head kept erect without being stiff. Face looks in front. Eyes are
gently closed. Relax the body from top to bottom, by relaxing the joints of the body.
When relaxed, I am as though disembodied. I observe the breathing.
UPASANA DHYANAM
I can invoke the Lord in any form that I choose. Mental worship of the Lord, menal
recitation of prayer and mental repetition of any mantra are all parts of Upasana
Dhyanam. One can decide the duration as per one’s convenience. After this exercise
one should give three promises to the Lord.
FIRST PROMISE
I will never forget throughout the day that the Lord resides in my heart. Isvara sarva
bhutanam... (Gita). I will never entertain the thoughts of loneliness or helplessness.
SECOND PROMISE
I will never forget the fact that Bhagavan’s grace is already there in me. I need not
seek it. It is already available in the form of Jnana sakti, Icha sakti and Kriya sakti.
The problem is not lack of grace. The problem is non utilisation or under utilisation
of grace. Guided by spiritual instructions, I use these resources, which are more
than enough for a successful life. I do not need anything. I already have whatever I
need.
THIRD PROMISE
7
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
I will follow the instructions of the Lord. The instruction is Uddaret
atmanatmanam...(Gita). I will never entertain thoughts of self diffidence which
express in the form of anxiety, concern, worry and fear. I will motivate myself, uplift
my spirit and boost my morale.
CONFIDENCE
SESSION: 12
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 6 was also
chanted.
RELAXATION
Follow all the rules associated with the proper posture. All the parts of the body
including joints are relaxed. Mentally observe your breathing. Breathing is slow and
relaxed. Do auto suggestion that for the next few minutes I do not want to
deliberately think of any worldly affairs. Thoughts may come, but I decide to ignore
them. After this exercise I should give three promises to the Lord.
FIRST PROMISE
I will never forget throughout the day that the Lord resides in my heart. Isvara sarva
bhutanam... (Gita). I have the greatest companion.
SECOND PROMISE
I will never forget the fact that the Lord’s grace is already available. It is already
available in the form of Jnana sakti, Icha sakti and Kriya sakti. This is the greatest
grace of the Lord.
8
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
THIRD PROMISE
The most important promise is that I will implement the teachings of karma yoga
throughout the day. Before every action, I visualise the Lord’s instructions to remain
equanimous during success and failure. I do every action only for the sake of
success. I should also prepare the mind for possible failure. There are 100’s of
factors which shape the result of our action. Many factors we don’t know. Many we
cannot control. Hence the result can be success or failure.
Lord as Karma phala dhata decides the result. He is never unfair. Even before I start
the karma, I remember this instruction. I am prepared for any result. Every result is
the Lord’s prasada. Nothing is unwelcome. This prasada bhavana calms my mind. I
am ready for success or failure. Life is a series of pairs of opposites. I am ready. I
have no anxiety, fear or stress. Along with the Lord I will face any event.
SESSION: 13
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 7 was also
chanted.
RELAXATION
Comfortable posture. Hands clasped together and placed on the lap. Upper body,
neck and head kept erect without being stiff. Face looks straight. Eyes are gently
closed. This is the posture. Relax the body including the joints of the body.
After relaxing the body, I become aware of my breathing process. Maintain the
breath smooth, relaxed and systematic. This will help in relaxing the mind also.
Now I take an auto suggestion that I will ignore all distracting thoughts even if they
come of their own.
UPASANA
When a karma yogi practices upasana, he invokes the Lord. He practices mental
worship, mental recitation or mental repetition of the name of the Lord. A
9
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
combination of 2 or 3 are also ok. This exercise to be followed by three fold promise
to the Lord. I will always remember the fact that you the Lord reside in me always. I
will also remember the fact that your grace is always there in me in the form of
Icha, Jnana and Kriya saktis. Finally I promise that I will take responsibility for my
spiritual growth.
ATMA KRIPA
We always try to evade responsibility by giving one excuse or the other which is self
deception. We are the losers and we perpetuate samsara by giving excuses.
TAKING RESPONSIBILITY
I clearly give a promise to the Lord that I will take responsibility. I will sincerely
attempt to implement your instructions O Lord! Every scriptural instruction is
directed towards me and me alone. When I study the scriptures I have to note these
instructions and try to follow them. How much we succeed is not in our hands. But
sincere attempt is in our hands only.
VALUES
In the Gita 16th Chapter, Bhagavan enumerates the spiritually destructive emotions
called asuri sampat and spiritually elevating deivi sampat. Asuri sampat will lead to
spiritual bondage and perpetual samsara. Some of them are to be remembered
being common to all of us. Worry, fear, anger, hatred, jealousy all these are
spiritually destructive emotions. I note this as a spiritual seeker. The arrival of these
emotions I cannot stop. It is either because of situations or our own vasana or
subconscious mind. We need not feel bad if they arrive. But the scriptural warning is
that they should never be encouraged to continue in our mind. These emotions
continue because of our co-operation. We permit them to continue and justify. This
is our contribution. As a spiritual seeker, I refuse to cooperate with them.
Remembering the scriptural warning, I withdraw my support even as they arise. I
use the will that Bhagavan had given me to turn the mind away and get occupied in
any other area. Keeping the mind constructively engaged, constructively occupied is
the only remedy to eliminate spiritually destructive emotions. I alone can do this
with the help of my will, efforts and practice. I cannot succeed in one day. Bhagavan
has given all the resources for this. Bhagavan’s guidance is also there in the form of
10
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
scriptures. I alone can do this. This is the third important promise the Upasaka
should do. I will implement Bhagavan’s instructions and will avoid asuri sampat.
SESSION: 14
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 8 was also
chanted.
RELAXATION
Sit in a comfortable posture. Relax the body and breathing process. Withdraw the
mind from all other worldly preoccupations.
FORTITUTDE
Among several instructions of the Gita, one instruction is developing the virtue of
fortitude. It is the capacity to go through difficult situations without grumbling. It is
mentioned as Titiksa in Chapter 2, Santi in Chapter 13 and Kshama in Chapter 16.
Life is pair of opposites. Pleasurable and painful situations keep coming all the time.
Many painful situations can be prevented by using our will and efforts before they
come. But we will have to face choiceless, helpless situations minor and major. We
have to prepare for them. We should take precautions.
ACCEPT THEM AS WILL OF GOD: The second step is taking a resolve with
humility and devotion accepting them as will of God. Accept Law of Karma. This is
surrender. We are not surrendering our free will. But by using our free will we
accept choiceless situations as will of God.
11
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
This is only in case of helpless situations. Prevent the preventable. Remedy the
remediable. I need not accept them passively.
RESULT
A man of fortitude alone is fit for moksa. A man of courage alone is fit for moksa.
Upanisads declare that a weak reacting person cannot attain the atma. Everyday we
get opportunity to practice titiksa even in conversation. As a spiritual seeker, I will
practice this value.
SESSION: 15
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 9 was also
chanted.
RELAXATION
Sit in a comfortable posture. Relax the body and breathing process. Give auto
suggestion to the mind to concentrate for a few minutes in Upasana yoga.
BAKTI
The best expression of bakti is to follow the instructions of Lord Krishna and the
scriptures. Try to implement deivi sampat and avoid asuri sampat.
TITIKSA
12
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
The Lord repeatedly emphasise Titiksa or Sama or Santi. We can translate it as
fortitude, forbearance, patience or forgiveness. All these are different shades of
titiksa. Rajasic people consider titiksa as a prescription for inaction and for weak
people. Titiksa never means inaction. Sastra prescribes thoughtful action. We should
analyse pros and cons and see short term and long term consequences before any
action. Remain in a calm balanced state and perform thoughtful action.
CHOICELESS SITUATIONS
Most of choice less situations generate unhealthy emotions or asuri sampat like fear,
anger, frustration, depression, bitterness, hatred and self diffidence. When we face
helpless situations, we should remember that the Lord resides in us. Lord’s grace is
available in the form of three saktis. We have to remember the Lord’s teachings and
dilute and neutralise every unhealthy emotion. This is the meaning of titiksa. Titiksa
should dilute my fear, anger, hatred and bitterness.
ACTION
Titiksa is the most powerful remedy for every asuri sampat. We should remember
that asuri sampat is the obstacle for spiritual growth. Titiksa is actively working on
my own mind and it becomes a penance. If a diseased person practices titiksa then
that is paramam tapas. Titiksa helps in converting choice less suffering into penance.
We all get such opportunity in minor and major scale. One who practices titiksa is
brave and is the fittest person for moksa. Spirituality never works for an emotionally
weak person. I remember this every day as a part of my upasana yoga.
I am calm and ready for my future. I will enjoy my future or practice penance. I am
relaxed.
SESSION: 16
13
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 10, first 10
verses were also chanted.
RELAXATION
Sit in a comfortable posture. Relax the body and breathing process. Withdraw mind
from all preoccupations. Withdraw mind from all other worldly preoccupations with a
strong auto suggestion. Let every other thing wait for a few minutes. As a part of
upasana yoga we invoke the Lord and practice meditation in a devotional
atmosphere.
DEVOTION
There are different expressions of devotion- puja, japa, uttering the names of the
Lord, parayanam, recitation of devotional hymns. All these are expressions of bhakti.
According to the scriptures, the best expression of bhakti is following the instructions
of the Lord. If we ignore this all the other forms of devotion will not bless us totally.
We will not find much spiritual progress.
SPEECH DISCIPLINE
One of the foremost disciplines prescribed in our scriptures is vak tapas. Speech is
one of the powerful faculties that we human beings posses. It is extremely important
and powerful. Speech is personified as a deity in our culture as Vak Devi, Vani or
Saraswati and worshipped during Navaratri.
Speech can be used constructively to help others and ourselves. If we are careless it
becomes the most destructive instrument, which will destroy others and ourselves. A
well utilised speech is considered the most beautiful ornament that we can wear,
which attracts people to ourselves.
After every disturbing transaction, I have to see where I went wrong. Not where
others went wrong. We will find we have scope for improvement. Whenever the
mind is disturbed during emotional turmoil, the best policy is silence. Silence during
provocation is the most important form of forbearance. I may be a victim of false
charges. I have to communicate at the appropriate time. No communication takes
14
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
place when the speaker and listener are disturbed. At the appropriate time, we can
deliberately, thoughtfully, constructively communicate. Sometimes a simple sorry
may do the job. Kshama or titiksa is avoidance of impulsive speech.
SESSION: 17
GITA CHANTING
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 10 was also
chanted.
UNIVERSAL PRAYER
RELAXATION
Sit in a comfortable posture. Relax the body and breathing process. Withdraw mind
from all worldly affairs, profession and family. Upanisad suggests mental sannyasa
temporarily.
THREE PROMISES
The first promise is that I will never forget that the Lord resides in my heart all the
time. The second promise is that I will never forget the fact that the Lord’s grace is
already available. It is already available in the form of Jnana sakti, Icha sakti and
Kriya sakti. The third promise is that I will implement the teachings of the Lord
given in scriptures.
SPEECH DISCIPLINE
15
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
In Gita Chapter 17, the Lord has given instruction to follow verbal austerity. Our
speech should undergo four filters:
FILTER 1
Make sure that our words do not cause agitation, disturbance, pain or wound to the
listener.
FILTER 2
We should decide never to share information without verifying its validity and
veracity.
FILTER 3
FILTER 4
Our talks should benefit the listeners. We should see whether our talk is necessary
or not.
If we observe the four filters, we will not have much to talk. When we talk it
becomes very valuable. We will make our words precious like that of Mahatmas.
SESSION: 18
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 11 was also
chanted.
RELAXATION
Relax the body, breathing process and the mind. Mind to be turned away from all
preoccupations. Learn to keep away all the things to be done.
16
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
QUALIFICATION
JNANA YOGA
Jnana yoga includes learning the skill of being anchored in the changeless atma.
When I revisit the worldly pursuits there is a total change in perspective. I accept
the ephemeral changes as the nature of the world. I learn to see things as they are-
arrival and departure of things, generation and degeneration of things, association
and disassociation. All these varieties are not a matter to be complained. They are
appreciated as glory of maya.
Anchored in atma the changeless, I admire, appreciate and accept the changes as
the glory of maya. Nothing deserves complain. Partially accepting maya makes life
miserable. Accepting the world is possible only when I am objective. Objectivity is
possible only when I am anchored in the changeless atma. Jnana yoga gives this
skill.
Jnana yoga is relevant for everyone. Recognising its validity is Viveka. May you
regularly see the validity of tattva jnanam. This is an important exercise to be
followed in every upasana session. The more I see the relevance of jnana yoga, the
more sincere is my spiritual pursuit. Without sincerity, spiritual pursuit becomes
casual, time pass and unsuccessful. I appreciate the value of self knowledge.
SESSION: 19
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 11 was also
chanted.
RELAXATION
Proper posture, physical relaxation, harmonious breathing and keeping away from all
mental preoccupations. Mental preoccupations make the mind shallow. If they are
stopped the whole mind is available.
17
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
VALUES
In upasana of a karma yogi,he has to keep alive all the values called sadana
chatustayam. The first one is Viveka. I see the relevance, validity, relevance,
purpose and benefit of spiritual pursuit. Jnana yoga is the important pursuit. Only
then it can become top priority. Otherwise it will be given least priority. It will
become casual and time pass or escapism.
VAIRAGYA
Lord Krishna talks about detachment from the world, family and possessions. When
raga dvesha dominate our mind, we live in a private world of ourselves. We carve
out a small area fenced by me and mine.
HUMAN GOAL
Scriptures talk of a bigger goal. The world is maya vibuti of the Lord. Behind the
changing world is changeless Brahman. Jnana yoga is developing the skill to
appreciate Bhagavan and his vibuti. Our precious life is wasted in ignoring Bhagavan
and his vibuti. Our private world of ahankara and mamakara only give us samsara.
Vairagyam is the only medicine which can remove our preoccupations which hold
our mind a hostage. Vairagyam releases the mind and makes the un preoccupied
mind to enjoy the visvarupa of Isvara.
PRAYER
May the Lord help me discover vairagyam and make vairagyam help me discover the
infinite glories of the Lord- para and apara prakriti, atma and anatma, Brahman and
maya, changing and the changeless. We are surrounded by divinity. In fact we are a
part of divinity. We are divine.

Download from www.arshaavinash.in
SESSION: 20
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 12 was also
chanted.
RELAXATION
Relax all parts of the body avoiding stiffness. Breathing is smooth and rhythmic.
Sense organs are withdrawn. Eyes are gently closed. Mind withdraws from all
worldly preoccupations of family, possessions and profession. This is an opportunity
with myself. I give an auto suggestion that I will focus on what I want to do in
meditation. My aim in meditation is to follow the instructions of the Lord given in the
scriptures and help me in my spiritual growth.
FOUR WALLS
Most of us live in a private world of ourselves. Out of the infinite universe, we have
carved out a small portion and live within that private world. The four walls of this
private world are ahankara, mamakara, raga and dvesha. The first wall is ahankara
consisting of my body, mind and sense complex. The second wall is mamakara or
mine consisting of family, possessions, profession, etc. The third wall is raga
associated with countless desires, plans and attachment. The fourth wall is dvesha,
the countless things I dislike, I desperately try to avoid.
PRIVATE WORLD
Most of the time we are occupied and preoccupied with this narrow world. Raga
dvesha create countless disturbances, fears, worries leading to anger, frustration
and depression. 24 X 7 every day, every week, every month almost the entire life is
caught up suffocating and emotionally draining.
PUBLIC WORLD
Most of us are not even aware that there is a public world outside these four walls.
We do not know how to come out of this self made prison. However there is a secret
tunnel from below, through which we can come out of this imprisonment. This
secret tunnel is vairagyam or detachment. This is the only opening through which
we can come out at least temporarily.
DETACHMENT
19
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
Detachment is born out of discrimination. This has to be built up only by repeated
exposure to the scriptural teaching. When I come out of this suffocating private
world of mine, I can appreciate the public world, the viswarupa of Isvara all the time
available.
VISWARUPA ISVARA
ASTA MURTI
This wonderful universe consists of 5 elements- space, air, fire, water and earth.
Each one is a wonder and vibuti of Isvara. The sun and moon are wonders of the
universe because of which life itself is possible on the earth. There are countless
living beings, each one unique in itself. There are moving animals and non moving
plant kingdom. This is the astma murti viswarupa of Lord Dakshinamurti.
I appreciate, admire and adore the infinite glory presented for me by the Lord. The
entire changing universe is the body of the Lord. And Lord is the changeless
consciousness inhearing, harmonising and organising this universe. This viswarupa
consists of changing universe and changeless consciousness. I meditate on.
Any aspect of the universe is a glory. Lord Krishna enlists many of them in Bhagavad
Gita especially in Chapter 10. Endless glory. At least few minutes every day, I can
devote to this wonderful viswarupa upasana.
No doubt we have duties, responsibilities, but the entire life cannot be spent on this
private narrow world of ours. It is losing the privilege of a human being. I am
surrounded by viswarupa Isvara. I am ever in the presence of viswarupa Isvara. Let
me not forget this fact. I am every in the presence of the Lord. That is the greatest
blessing. Just remain in this awareness for a few seconds.
SESSION: 21
20
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 13 was also
chanted.
RELAXATION
Relax the body. Relax the breathing process. Withdraw the mind from all worldly
preoccupations by giving auto suggestion. Visualise the universal form of God or
viswa rupa Isvara.
FIRST STEP
Come out of mental preoccupation regarding the individual, family, possessions and
profession. Private world perpetuate samsara. At least few minutes every day invoke
vairagyam or detachment. Invoke vairagyam and come out of the private world.
SECOND STEP
The world I experience is live body of viswa rupa Isvara. Maya has transformed to
this world called apara prukriti. The world is Isvara’s darshanam.
When you drink water you are in contact with Isvara. When you experience Sun and
Moon it is Isvara. When it rains, the smell of the earth is Isvara. You are surrounded
by Isvara. You have to be aware of this fact and experience this fact. When it
happens naturally, it is viswa rupa dhyanam. Every experience is soaked in divinity.
This is the divine form, asta murti of Dakshinamurthy. The five elements are there.
Sun represents Stars. Moon represents planets and satellites. Jiva represents all
beings. I am surrounded by asta murti or Dakshinamurthy.
ISVARA DARSHANAM
It is God who is available in the form of changing names and forms full of variety.
He is the changeless existence principle or para prukriti, which is in and through the
world. I do not look for Isvara darshanam outside the world apart from the world. I
have permanent Isvara darshanam every moment. I feel this divinity.

First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 14 was also
chanted.
RELAXATION
Eyes are gently closed. Relax the body. Relax the breathing process. Withdraw the
mind from all worldly preoccupations by giving strong auto suggestion. These few
minutes are for meditation only.
I have to align my thoughts with the Vedantic teaching. I have to change the
pattern of thoughts, behaviour and response to life situations.
OBSTRUCTIONS
There are two obstructions- ajnana and abinivesa. Ajnana is losing sight of the
Vedantic teaching. Abinivesa is having a strong and deep obsession with regard to
the private world of five fold anatma- body, mind, family, possession and profession.
SOLUTION
The only solution is jnanam and vairagyam. Remember the viswa rupa teaching of
Bhagavad Gita. Detach from the private world at least during meditation.

Time, changes, pleasant experiences, unpleasant experiences are apara prakriti of
Isvara. The body has to go through janma, mrityu, jara, vyadhi and duka. These are
choice less facts of life. I have no complaints. I have an opportunity to experience
the changing Isvara.
I am thankful to Isvara for giving me regular darshanam 24 x 7 all 365 days of the
year. I have Isvara darshanam. I am fortunate.
In every meditation session, I invoke jnanam and vairagyam. I soak myself in viswa
rupa Isvara. I remember how fortunate I am. Nothing to complain or worry about. I
remain appreciating the presence of viswa rupa Isvara.
Universal prayer was chanted and meditation session concluded.
SESSION: 23
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 15 was also
chanted.
RELAXATION
Comfortable posture. Relax the body. Relax the breathing process. Withdraw the
mind from all worldly preoccupations. Withdraw the mind from the private world.
DISPASSION
Dispassion is a prerequisite for any form of meditation. This is important for Vedanta
Nididhyasanam. I come out of my private world. I invoke Lord Krishna’s teaching on
viswa rupa Isvara. It is presented elaborately from Chapter 7 to Chapter 12. I should
be soaked in the awareness of Isvara’s message.
DIVINE EYES
When I visualise the universe with this awareness, I have divine eyes. It is the
awareness of the divine teaching. I visualise this vast universe consisting of the
changing part called apara prakrti and changeless existence, changeless
consciousness part called para prakrti. This is viswa rupa. It is nididhyasanam when
I dwell upon the changeless part. It is viswa rupa upasana when I visualise the
changing part of the universe.

CONTINUOUS CHANGE
At the micro level things change in seconds. At macro level things change in ages.
Apara prakrti is beginning less and end less. Time wise and space wise we cannot
see beginning and end.
INFINITE VARITIES
There are varieties in galaxies, stars, planets and satellites. Varieties in ocean, rivers,
animals, plants, etc. In human beings body, mind, thoughts, values, philosophies,
desires, actions speech are different. As a human being I alone have the capacity to
appreciate this variety, acknowledge and admire. The variety is the greatest wonder.
Arjuna briefly experienced this. As long as I have objectivity, I can enjoy this divine
darshanam.
PRIVATE WORLD
The moment I start labelling this as good, bad, want to own this, regret this, love
this, hate this- judgment starts. Likes and dislikes have been activated. My vision
gets subjective and coloured. I come back to my private world. Samsara appears.
Viswa rupa disappears.
DIVINE VISION
Divine vision continues as long as I maintain divine eyes. Eyes represent all the five
sense organs. Infinite varieties of forms, colours, sound, music are produced by
animals, birds. Taste, touch, smell are different. I appreciate the maya aspect of the
Lord. I don’t reject it. It is inseparable from para prakrti.
Apara prakrti becomes a bondage when I start judging, labelling, promoting likes
and dislikes. Whole universe is a garden. Every tree is a karpaga vriksam. All rivers
are as sacred as Ganga. Everything is divine. All words of all human beings are
sacred sound like the sound of Vedas. Entire earth is sacred like Kasi.
When I maintain the divine eyes, I am in the presence of Isvara everywhere and all
the time.

First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 16 was also

RELAXATION
Comfortable posture. Relax the body. Relax the breathing process. Withdraw the
mind from all worldly preoccupations.
Everyone has a three fold personality. It is karta ahankara, bhokta ahankara and
jyata or pramata ahankara. Karta has varieties of action in the past, present and
future. Bhokta has varieties of experience in the past, present and future.
Karta bhokta association has lot of mental preoccupations – What I did? What I do?
What I will do? What I faced, What I face? What will I face? Karta bhokta
preoccupation make the mind unavailable for dhyanam. Therefore mental relaxation
requires keeping aside karta and bhokta. Very difficult. But very much necessary for
successful meditation.
KNOWER I
Having kept aside karta and bhokta, I invoke the jyata I or pramata I or knower I.
As a Vedanta student, I have to invoke the relevant scriptural teaching depending
upon the type of meditation. It is required for effective meditation.
APARA PRAKRITI
The entire material universe is Isvara sariram, which includes the five elements. In
Dakshinamurti stotram it is presened as asta murti. Mundaka Upanisad also reveals
that material universe is the body of the Lord.

MICRO LEVEL
Our body consist of countless small and big parts- bone, muscles, hair, etc. Certain
parts are sentient and certain parts like hair, nail are insentient. Our body is a
mixture of countless ingredients. Still we treat it as one body pervaded by jiva
chaitanyam.
MACRO LEVEL
Material universe also has countless parts- both micro and macro, both sentient and
insentient. Even though many and varied I should understand the entire material
universe as one cosmic body pervaded by one Isvara chaitanyam. My body is a
micro body pervaded by jiva chaitanyam. Material universe is a macro body
pervaded by one Isvara chaitanyam.
DIVINE EYES
When I visualise the universe with this knowledge, I have divine eyes. I have eyes of
knowledge. For me the entire universe is sacred. Everything is the glory of the Lord.
Universe as body of the Lord evokes reverence in my mind. I divinise the world
through viswa rupa upasana. This must enter my sub-conscious mind. Such a person
is a real baktha, who does not work for Isvara darshanam, who is permanently
soaked in Isvara darshanam. I appreciate, admire and revere the ever available
viswa rupa Isvara.
The moment I identify with karta boktha I, interactions begin. They are mixed with
prarabdha karma- punya and papa. The karma mixed interaction generates pleasure
and pain. Consequently likes, dislikes, lebelling and judging the world. Diversity of
the world gets over powered by our likes and dislikes judgment. Pleasure and pain
arise from punya and papa mixed interaction. They do not belong to viswa rupa
Isvara. But belong to jiva’s punya and papa. Viswa rupa by itself is untouched by all
these punya and papa. In meditation I appreciate the pure viswa rupa.

First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 17 was also

In the Vedic tradition, entire universe is looked upon as the body of Bhagavan. It is
the medium to respond to the needs of jivas. We use our body to respond to our
needs and needs of others. It is a responding medium. Bhagavan has no needs to
respond, but has to respond to countless jivas through this universal body.
Every jiva has countless karmas in the form of punyam and papam. They have to
experience pleasurable and painful situations to exhaust this karma. So growth,
decay and disease are all required. Success/ failure, growth/ loss, association/
separation karmas are to be experienced. Jivas require opportunities to fulfil their
desire for dharma, artha, kama and moksha.
Whenever we honour a person, it goes to the jiva behind that. Even when a dead
body is honoured, it goes to the jiva which occupied that. The entire universe is the
body of the Lord. Through the universe, I revere the invisible Bhagavan and maya or
Chaitanyam, the all pervasive consciousness with the power of maya. This
appreciation is viswa rupa Isvara. I will remember this in and through all my day to
day work. Every action is worship.
SESSION: 26
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 18, first 40
slokas were also chanted.
In Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna explains that the whole universe is body of the Lord.
Para prakriti is the consciousness aspect of the Lord. Apara prakriti is body of the
Lord. It is described in Chapter 9 and Chapter 10. 10th Chapter presents the glories
of viswa rupa Isvara.

11th Chapter presents the viswa rupa darshan to Arjuna. Arjuna was wonder struck
by the beautiful colourful variety. Here birth aspect is highlighted.
There is also the ugly frightening terrible aspect. Here death aspect is highlighted.
Destruction is time principle. Both aspects required as Bhagavan has to give karma
phala. Arjuna was not ready to accept it. He wanted to see only the form of Lord
Krishna with beautiful attributes and features.
I have to meditate on both aspects of viswa rupa Isvara. I have to surrender to the
will of the Lord. I should be willing to go through what ever Bhagavan wants me to
go through. I have to pay for the karma. Some of them can be remedied. Every jiva
has to go through old age, disease, death and separation. I cannot deny this fact. I
should willingly accept all choiceless situations as prasada from viswa rupa Isvara. I
should be ready for both the pairs of opposites. I enjoyed my youth, growth and
association. I should be ready for decay, death and separation.
The more I meditate on viswa rupa Isvara, my raga dvesha will get diluted. I can
have preferences, expectations, but be ready for unexpected results. There is no
fear, no anxiety. I will handle my life. I surrender to the will of viswa rupa Isvara.

inner strength. I am ready to host Isvara visiting me in any form. I feel honoured
and blessed and fortunate, to be visited by Isvara. Let him choose any form to visit
me. I am free from fear, anxiety and stress. I am ready with a smile to welcome
viswa rupa Isvara. Enjoy this pleasant feeling.
SESSION: 28
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 1 was also
chanted.
LIKES & DISLIKES: Everyone has a natural like for happiness and all the factors
that contribute to happiness. Everyone has a natural dislike for unhappiness and all
factors that contribute to unhappiness. Being natural we cannot eliminate it. This
creates a fear for the future. Unknown, unpredictable and uncontrollable future if
not to my like, I will be miserable and helpless. A spiritual seeker handles this fear
by training the mind in Isvara upasana.
TRAINING THE MIND: Upasaka trains the mind by welcoming the future. In ista
devata upasana, I see the future as Isvara prasada, a gift of Isvara. In viswa rupa
upasana, I see the future as Isvara himself. Time is Isvara. Future is also Isvara. I
train my mind to welcome Isvara, the future. It may or may not confirm to my likes
and dislikes.
INNER STRENGTH: When my resistance for the future goes away, my internal
strength, mental strength gets automatically released. I am ready to confront the
future, whether it is old age, disease, death, separation or loss.
ENDURANCE: I can and I will face the future. This strength will help me to change,
what can be changed. It will help to withstand what cannot be changed. It gives
endurance. This inner strength is the greatest shock absorber, whether the ride is
smooth or rough. I can maintain the mental balance.
WELCOME THE FUTURE: Let future bring anything. It is viswa rupa Isvara. I will
welcome. I am ready. No fear. No anxiety. I am relaxed. I am ready and relaxed.

COURAGE: I welcome any type of future. Initially I do not find courage to say this.
Initially I fake it. Later I make it. I am ready to welcome any time of future-
immediate or remote, pleasant or unpleasant, mine or my family members. As
resistance goes away my inner strength gets released. Resistance blocks. Non
resistance releases the stress. I can face my future. Courage gives power to
overcome emotional resistance.
WELCOME THE FUTURE: Let Bhagavan and karma decide the type of my future. I
am ever ready, ever willing. I have no fear, no sense of insecurity, no sense of
loneliness. I can face my future. Future is Isvara prasada or Isvara. Either way I
welcome the future. This is upasana method of fighting the fear.

part was also chanted.
RELAXATION
Comfortable posture on ground or chair. Hands clasped together placed on the lap.
Eyes are gently closed without being tight. Body, neck and head are erect but
relaxed. The physical body is relaxed especially the various joints of the body. Mind
is brought from external world from all other preoccupations and is focused on
breathing process. The whole mind is aware of the inhalation and exhalation
process. Relaxed, rhythmic breathing. This most sacred phenomenon makes us
different from inert objects.
Ista deva upasana can be practiced by all even without spiritual background.
Our understanding of Isvara should get refined. Isvara is not finite and located
somewhere in the cosmos or outside. We have to grow out of the personal version
of Isvara. It is ok for regular puja as we require an altar.
VISWAM
The first world in Vishnu sahasra nama is Viswam. I experience Isvara all the time
whether I like it or not without knowing the fact. I do not require any separate proof
for existence of Isvara because it is all the time evident.
In the initial stage, I focus on the changing part of the universal form. I appreciate
the variety and vastness.
OPPOSITE PAIRS
31
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
Viswa rupa Isvara consists of the pairs of opposites and both of them are equally
sacred. Because they are complimentary pairs. Growth/ decay, pleasant experiences/
unpleasant experiences, union/ separation everything is sacred. Nothing happens
randomly. Everything happens as per universal laws which are infallible. Man made
law and order may collapse. But the divine universal order will not collapse.
APARA PRAKRITI
PARA PRAKRITI
We have to turn our attention to the changless part of viswa rupa Isvara which is
Para prakriti or Brahman. Lord Krishna calls this as Sat or existence. When we
experience anything, we experience Sat. But we ignore Sat all the time. Brahman’s
changeless aspect is the absolute truth. Changing aspect is names and forms and
are unreal mithya. Satyam Brahman plus mithya jagat is Viswa rupa Isvara. We will
focus on this meditation.
SESSION: 31
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 3 was also

VEDANTIC MEDITATION
SUB CONSCIOUS
32
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
Vedantic meditation is not thoughtlessness. It is not for mystic experience. The
purpose is to internalise these three messages. When I dwell on these, there is an
undisturbed, unpreoccupied 100% deep mind. These messages enter my
subconscious. All the previous habitual notions are pushed out of the sub conscious
mind.
STEPS
This can be practiced only after sravanam and mananam. Sravanam is undergoing
teaching under a Guru. Mananam is reflecting on the teaching. I should be
intellectually convinced of the three cardinal teachings. Nididhyasanam is dwelling on
them to internalise, assimilate and push them into sub conscious. Convert jnanam
into jnana nista. Until I am convinced sravanam and mananam should be continued.
We visualise the entire universe as viswa rupa Isvara. In Vedantic meditation viswa
rupa Isvara is divided into two parts- Changing part which is constantly changing
and we are intensely aware of. Changless part which is taken for granted and which
we ignore.
EXISTENCE
BRAHMA SATYAM
The existence principle is the ultimate reality called Brahman. It is not limited by
time and space. This is presented by the Upanisads as Brahma Satyam. We always
experience. We always ignore. Brahman is available as is-ness in everything.
JAGAT MITHYA
Everything else other than is-ness is called the universe. The whole universe is a
changing bunch of names and forms. At micro level it changes so fast that we can
never know what it is. It will always remain a mystery, undefinable. Therefore we
say Jagat Mithya. As it is mysterious and continuously changing it is intellectually
33
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
and emotionally challenging. If we accept universe as it is, then the world is an
entertaining one. Emotionally entertaining. Intellectually entertaining. I appreciate
both aspects of Bhagavan. Brahma Satyam. Jagat Mithya. I am aware.
SESSION: 32
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 4 was also
chanted.
BRAHMA SATYAM: Visualise the entire universe which is viswa rupa Isvara. The
changing aspect is experienced by us. It is known as apara prakriti in Bhagavad Gita.
There is another abstract component in the universe which we experience all the
time but ignore. This is not changing component or para prakriti. It is called
existence principle.
EXISTENCE: Every object, living being, event is existent. The whole universe is
associated with existence principle or is ness principle. This is ness principle does not
undergo any change when objects undergo change. It is called Brahman. It is the
absolute reality. This existence is Tat Brahman. Chandogya Upanisad Chapter 6
explains this existence principle.
CARDINAL PRINCIPLES:
• Existence is not a part, product or property of the universe, even though
intimately associated with the universe.
• Existence is an independent principle which pervades the universe and makes
the universe appear existent.
• Existence is not limited by the boundaries of the world, including time and
space.
• Existence continues - before big bang it was- after everything resolves isness
continues. Even the space exist because it is pervaded by Brahman.
34
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
UNDERSTAND IS NESS: To appreciate this, one requires a very subtle intellect.
Plurality of is ness does not exist. There is only one existence. When we say people
are there, plurality belongs to people, existence is only one. Appreciation of
existence of Brahman is paroksa jnanam. Knowledge that Brahman is satyam.
SESSION: 33
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 5 was also
chanted.
NON VARIABLE EXISTENCE: The invariable and non changing existence is all
pervading. It is only one undivided and indivisible. If there is a gap between two
objects, in the gap also the empty space ‘is’. In that empty space also existence
continues. We focus on the variable name and form and we ignore the non variable
existence even though we experience that.
35
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
BRAHMAN: Existence is Brahman. It is non variable and it pervades all variable
names and forms. Entire world of changing names and forms is called the universe.
It is called the mithya jagat. We are experiencing both of them simultaneously. In
every experience there is non variable Brahman and variable jagat.
I register this fact in vedantic meditation. I experience Brahman and the world all
the time. The ‘is ness’ is Brahman. The name and form is world. My aim in
meditation is to register this fact during worldly transactions.
Mentally repeat this with awareness of the meaning: ‘I experience Brahman and the
world together all the time.’

chanted.
The central teaching of Vedanta is three fold: Brahma Satyam. Jagat Mithya. Jivo
Brahmaiva na para. Jivo Brahmaiva na para is a maha vakyam.
SPACE: Existence is all pervading like the space. Just as there is only one all
pervasive space, there is only one all pervasive existence. Space cannot be divided.
But it is seemingly divided because of several enclosures like pot space and room
space.

SESSION: 36
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 8 was also

In a jewellery shop we see different ornaments. Their name, form and function are
different. In all of them there is a non changing non variable factor- gold.
We experience countless objects, people, situations and emotions. In and through all
the variable experiences, there is a non variable and non changing cause. That is
EXISTENCE of everything and every being. Grammatically we express that as – is,
are, am. All mean existence – past, present or future. Existence is universal.
Experience of existence is universal. Non variable existence is the cause of the entire
variable world.
Upanisad calls it jagat karanam Brahman. Being ultimate cause, it is abstract and not
tangible like gold. I am experience jagat karanam Brahman all the time. Even before
arrival of time and space, non variable existence was. During sleep we go back to
the same causal existence. I EXPERIENCE BRAHMAN ALWAYS.
SESSION: 37
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 9 was also
chanted.
Everything, being, time, space are associated with abstract existence. We experience
any object or being along with existence. We take it for granted or ignore. In
Vedantic meditation I focus on this existence.
In between two objects I experience emptiness as existence of space. Existence is
continuous and all pervading. This non dual existence existed before creation. Upon
this existence alone everything- time, space and dualistic world appeared.
38
Download from www.arshaavinash.in
It is one all pervading eternal existence. It existed in the past. It exists in the
present. It will exist in future. Changeless existence is experienced along with
changing objects. Mentally we have to differentiate. This is called nithya anithya
vastu viveka.
The difference is revealed in the Vedantic teaching- Brahma Satyam. Jagat Mithya.
When I say Brahma satyam, I should appreciate changeless, location less, attribute
less existence all the time. But I ignore. When I say Jagat Mithya, I should see
changing temporary attributed thing, which is temporarily associated permanent
existence.
SESSION: 38
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 10 was also
chanted.
When we experience an object, we experience the object along with its cause. e.g.
furniture with wood; cloth with fibre.
When we experience the world, we experience the world along with its cause
Brahman. The effect is many and variable. But the cause is non variable.
Chandogya Upanisad 6th Chapter is called Sad Vidya. It says that Brahman is the
cause of creation, sustenance and resolution. When we go to sleep, all our
transactions end. All the object are resolved. I as an individual is resolved. Upanisad
points out that this varied maya world is resolved into pure existence when we go to
sleep. When we emerge out of sleep, we are coming out of Brahman or pure
existence. But we do not register that fact.
Existence is an abstract principle like space. We experience, but do not register.
Vedantic meditation is to register this fact.
39

First step: I experience the world. Second step: I experience the world with
Brahman. Finally: I experience Brahman alone with variable names and forms.
Names and forms appear and disappear. Existence alone remains. Brahma Satyam.
Jagat Mithya.
The experience of Brahman is along with name and form. For liberation have the
perspective of Brahman. For transaction have the perspective of name and form.
SESSION: 39
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 11 upto
verse 31 was also chanted.
When we experience the world, we experience the changing part and non changing
part. The non changing part is satyam Brahman or existence. The changing part is
mithya nama rupa. The relationship between existence and the world is satya mithya
sambanda or adhyasa sambanda.
When I say I am so and so, it is a mixture of satyam and mithya. ‘Am’ reveals
satyam. ‘I am’ reveals individuality which is mithya. When mind resolves like in
sleep, existence part continues. But I cannot transact and have experience or
knowledge.
I can claim immortality, only when I claim I am satyam Brahman, the existence
factor. Assimilating this is Brahma Satyam, Jagat mithya nishta.
First I experience an ornament. Then I experience the ornament with gold. Finally I
experience gold along with changing name and form.
I EXPERIENCE BRAHMAN ALONE ALL THE TIME WITH CHANGING NAMES AND
FORMS.

Vedanta tells a new way of looking at the world. World has two segments
experienced all the time:
1. Changing segment of names and forms. We are occupied with the changing
body, mind, sense complex, family, environment, time, space, etc.
2. Changeless segment of existence. It is an abstract principle. We are aware of
it.
We know the world is existent. We cannot experience a non existent world. Change
the attention to existence part called sat.

We experience the changing world and changeless existence. Without the world, we
cannot experience existence. Without existence we cannot experience the world.
Both are experienced together. We cannot experience them separately.
Mortality is natural. We have to go through old age, disease and death. It the nature
of changing anatma. Abide in the atma. When I abide in atma, I am free of fear of
death, old age and disease. We can conquer fear only by claiming I am immortal
atma.
Let me go from mortal anatma to immortal atma. I can face disease, death and old
age. I am satya atma. I am satyam Brahman. I am ananda svarupa.

boundaries of the body. I lend existence to the biggest star. Space itself borrows
existence from me. I give existence to past, present and future. In fact to time itself.
Time and space exist in me.
As Brahman, I support the entire universe with its names and forms. I am asanga. I

Due to devotion to the Lord, we have put down us. This has lead to jiva bhava or

Maha vakya says I am not jiva, but Brahman. Vedantic meditation is a process in
which I systematically root out the misconception of jiva bhava. Vedantic meditation
is meant to help this process.
Atma lends existence to anatma. Anatma is mithya. My nature is nitya, savagata and
satyam. Each word should come alive in meditation. Courage and conviction

help. I invoke the relationship of jiva and Isvara. I have dasoham bhavana. I depend
upon this for my peace, security and happiness.
In Vedanta this attitude is a form of samsara. It will cut off in maha vakya dhyana. It
will take years of sravanam, mananam to understand maha vakyam. I should have

doubtless understanding. Sravanam and mananam have paid off. Now I should
proceed to nididhyasanam or vedantic meditation.
There is no jiva/ Isvara. There is only atma/ anatma. Changeless existence factor is
atma. Changing names and forms are anatma. In maha vakya, I am revealed as
changeless atma. I am not the changing body and mind. Internalise it. It should
enter the sub conscious mind. During worldly transactions, this should remain in the
background. In worldly transactions, I use the usual words. But I understand the
reality.
EVERYTHING DEPENDS UPON ME. I AM THE INDEPENDENT REALITY.
Universal prayer was chanted and the meditation session concluded.

First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 18 was also
chanted.
During upasana I use jiva Isvara format. In worldly transactions I use the triangular
format of jiva, jagat and Isvara. According to Vedanta, jiva bhava is a mis
conception, which is the cause of samsara. I have to drop that. The new concept
should enter my sub conscious mind.
The whole universe is a mixture of atma and anatma. Every changing name and
form is anatma. All bodies and minds are mithya. Changeless existence principle is
atma. In nididhyasanam, I should claim myself as atma. I should stop claiming body
mind complex as myself.
Ahankara is karta having karma and karma phala. I have no karma or phala. They
are only karma abhasa and phala abhasa. I am akarta, abhokta and asanga. Every
spiritual seekers after sravanam and mananam, should look upon himself as akarta.
Karma abhasa and phala abhasa cannot affect me. This awareness reduces all
emotional disturbances. Unaffected atma I am.

First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 1 was also
chanted.
We have to change from triangular fomat of jiva, jagat and Isvara to binary format
of atma and anatma. I am satyam atma. I am different from mithya anatma. I am
changless existence. I support the changing anatma. Anatma changes are
unpredictable, uncontrollable and unprevantable.
Maha vakyas reveal that I am atma and moksa is my nature. It does not depend
upon the conditions of anatma- health or family situation. To claim my moksa
nature, I need not wait for ideal conditions, as that is unstable. Remembering the
maha vakyam and conviction in the maha vakyam is the only condition required for
claiming my moksa svarupam. I use nididhyasanam for this purpose.
Let the anatma conditions change in any direction. I do not know. I do not want to
know. I want to remember this fact. I am ever free in spite of the conditions of
anatma. I keep asserting that I am nitya mukta. It is not a mechanical repetition. I
mean what I say. I understand the message. I mean what I say.
In nididhyasanam, I have to assert this fact. It is not for other’s sake, but for my
own sake. This has to enter deep in me.
I AM EVER FREE.

First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 2 upto verse

In a triangular format of jiva, jagat and Isvara, I look upon myself as a jiva. An
insignificant individual in the vast universe. I feel helpless and seek the help of
Isvara.

a jiva with the body, mind costume, which is the name and form. Every jiva is a
costumed atma.
The entire universe is the same atma, myself with different names and forms. I lend
existence to all of them. Ultimately Isvara is nothing but costumed atma. I the atma
play the role of jiva, jagat and Isvara. I am the content of all these. I am not a
located individual, but I am the atma everywhere, everything and every being.
Moksa is not my goal but it is my nature. All my activities are not moksa sadhanam.
They are karma abhasa. I am a jivan muktha. I do not require any means to attain
moksa. Moksa is my very nature.
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 2 from verse
40 was also chanted.
When we are in the triangular format, we see the glory of the creation as glory of
Isvara. The rain, the sun, the moon are all Isvara’s glories. When I am in the binary
format, I see them as glories of maya. I look at myself as adistanam Brahman of the
glorious maya. All the glories of pancha butas belong to maya. I am the adistanam
Brahman of the glorious maya.
I never lose sight of my nature when I appreciate the creation. I can appreciate the
creation in the binary format also. We need not negate the creation. We can
appreciate the creation. I am the substratum and never affected by all these events
that happen in maya.
The nature’s glory and the nature’s fury, I accommodate all of them. I appreciate all
of them. I admire all of them without forgetting my real nature. I am unaffected by
all of them. We appreciate the glory of sound through our ears.

Space is everywhere. But it is not affected by anything. Similarly I am atma and not
affected by anything. I am the consciousness in every body. But I am not affected
by the emotions.
Sunlight illumines everything. But it is not affected by anything. I am like akasa and
prakasa, even when I play worldly roles. I will play the role of jiva, but will
remember who I am. I will not tell others. But I will remember this all the time. This
is jnana nishta.
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 5 was also
chanted.
During worldly transactions we are in a triangular format of jiva, jagat and Isvara.
The most powerful force is karma. It is invisible. We are moving in darkness. Future
is unpredictable. It causes anxiety and fear. As age increases, fear and anxiety
increases. This is samsara.
What experienced is kshetram. All living beings, time, space, actions and result are
kshetram. All our possessions and relatives are kshetram. Our physical body, mind
and emotions are kshetram. Entire kshetram is subject to law of karma. Complaints
can never be a solution. I acknowledge and accept the unpredictability of kshetram.
Only one thing other than kshetram is kshetrgya. Lord Krishna makes it clear.
Kshetragya is the one who is aware of and witness of kshetram. It is the
consciousness sakshi principle. Entire kshetram is inert. Kshetragya is the sentient,
non material principle.
In Vedantic meditation, I see both kshetram and kshetrgya and contrast them.
Kshetragya is my real nature. Family, possessions, body, mind are kshetram and not
me. Kshetragya is untouched by karma.

I am kshetragya. I am not affected by karma. I am ever free. Nitya mukta. Repeat
this sentence and see the meaning: I AM EVER FREE.
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 6 was also
chanted.
First step in vedantic meditation is changing from triangular format of jiva, jagat and
Isvara to binary format. Lord Krishna says the binary format is kshetram and
kshetrgya. I see myself as kshstrgya witness of ksehetram.
All bodies of all living beings come under kshetram. My own body, sense organs,
mind are all kshetram although they are very intimate. All interactions in life happen
in kshetram.
Space in pot is never affected by or polluted by the pot or its contents. Like space, I
atma pervade everything. I am not affected by the bodies. I pervade everything and
remain ever pure.
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 7 was also
chanted.

I should remind myself of my real nature at regular intervals. I have to do this
exercise. Interactions of kshetram is like a movie. I am not one of the characters in
the movie. I am the screen which supports all events. I support them, witness them
and not get affected by them. I am not a participant. I am uninvolved and
unaffected. I am akarta, abhokta.
Let the drama go on. Let me not get lost. Reminding this is the purpose of vedantic
meditation. This has to enter my sub-conscious mind that I never forget this during
my worldly transactions. I have to put on body costume, mind costume. I have to
discharge my responsibilities. The drama has to go on. I have to give importance to
my roles. The roles, costumes are temporary.
I am sat chit ananda svarupa. I will never forget this fact. Let anatma and anatma
interact. I will never get lost in them. I am ever free. Events can never alter the fact
that I am free here and now. Let anything happen. My freedom is unconditional.
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 8 was also
chanted
KSHETRAM KSHETRAGYA
Object Subject
Matter Consciousness
With attributes Without attributes
Changing Changeless
Subject to arrival and Not subject to arrival and
departure departure
In vedantic meditation, I dwell upon these changes. All bodies and all minds of all
jivas are changing kshetram. We can never predict the changes. If we depend upon
kshetram for our peace, security and happiness, we will have to suffer anxiety,
stress, fear, worry and all emotional problems. The only source of peace, security
and happiness is kshetragya. Kshetragya is myself. Ksehtragya is Bhagavan.

We have to use body, mind, sense complex, family members and the world for
transactions. When ever kshetram overwhelms, come to the green room and get
connected to kshetragya. Until this enters the sub-conscious mind, this exercise
should be continued.
I, THE KSHETRAGYA IS THE ONLY SOURCE OF PEACE, SECURITY AND HAPPINESS.
Universal prayer was chanted and the meditation session concluded.
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 9 was also
chanted.
Vedantic meditation involves change from triangular format to binary format.
Kshetragya is the experiencer, changeless, consciousness principle and satyam.
Kshetram is the experienced object, changing, matter principle and mithya.
I project the dream world, enter that, give reality to that and forget the fact. I the
kshetragya project this waking world, enter that, give reality to that and forget this
fact. In vedantic meditation, I remind this fact. World has a borrowed reality.
Physical body, mind are also part of the world and enjoy borrowed reality. I give
reality to all of them.
All the time there is interaction between mithya body, mithya mind and mithya
world. Nobody can stop that. It need not be stopped. I should not be lost in mithya
transactions. I have to enter the green room and remind my true nature.
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 10 was also
chanted.
All worldy transactions have to take place in the triangular format of jiva, jagat and
Isvara. From anatma stand point, I am too small. The world is very big. I am
helpless in worldly transactions. This results in anger, frustration and depression.
This is samsara.

Vedanta teaches that I am atma. I am different from anatma and I am not part of
body, mind and the world. Moksa is impossible from anatama stand point.
In Vedantic meditation, I change my stand point. Let anatma come in its own
direction. Let me remember anatma is doing what it has to do. I invoke my atma
nature. I am eternal, all pervasive, space like consciousness. Mithya events cannot
affect me the satya atma.
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 11 first 31
verses were also chanted.
There is one infinite Brahman. It’s greatest glory is maya sakthi. With maya sakthi it
appears as jiva, jagat and Isvara. I am that Brahman. I play the three fold role of
jiva, jagat and Isvara.
I alone appear as the smallest atom with a name and form and as the biggest star
with a name and form. I am Brahman and with my maya sakthi, appear as the
universe. I am the most ancient, beginningless and endless Brahman.
Let me play the role of a jiva. As jiva, I have several responsibilities, make many
attempts to fulfil them. There are so many successes and failures. Let the drama go
on.
Let me come to the green room now and then and claim my glories. I am the most
fortunate to receive this teaching. Let me not disown my glory. Let me not get lost
in my family responsibilities. I will be a responsible jiva. But I will not forget who I
am in my real nature.

First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 11 from
verses 31 were also chanted.
Vedantic meditation is not meant for removing thoughts of the mind. It is for
dwelling on the teaching that I have received from the Sastra during sravanam and
mananam. I internalise the teaching: Brahma Satyam. Jagat Mithya. Aham
Brahmaiva. Na apara. I weaken my habitual thinking.
The effect cannot exist away from me the cause. They resolve into my maya sakthi-
in deep sleep, death and pralayam.
Ornaments cannot affect gold. Triad cannot affect me the Sakshi chaitanyam. I do
not work for Brahman experience. I recollect the teaching that I am Brahman.
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 12 was also

In deep sleep, experience, experienced, experiencer, time and space all resolve into
me. I support all of them. I am eternal, all pervasive, limitless consciousness named
Brahman. In me, all the distinct names and forms, rise and fall. I alone appear as
the non dualistic world. I will play the roles, but not forget my nature. Playing roles
is not samsara. Forgetting my real nature is samsara.
Vedantic meditation is to internalise this fact. This fact is behind my mind, during
worldly transactions. I AM NON DUAL BRAHMAN.
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 13 was also
chanted.
Existence is the nature of atma. Consciousness is the nature of atma. Ananda is the
nature of atma. Existence of the world is born from atma. Consciousness of beings is
born from atma. Happiness in the mind is also born from atma. Vedanta reveals the
five features of atma.
Finite antama cannot contribute ananda. Ananda is reflected in the mind when there
is a conducive situation. Ananda atma continues even when the mind is resolved.
When mind experiences ananda, I experience my own ananda. Mind and world
cannot produce ananda. Ananda is my own nature.
Chidananda rupa Shivoham Shivoham.
All disturbances belong to the mind. Let me not transfer them to myself. Mind is an
instrument. Attributes of the instrument belongs to the instrument. In vedantic
meditation, I see that I am different from the mind.
Mano buddhi ahankara chitani naham.
Let me not mix mind and myself. We can refine the mind for worldly transactions.
But I should remember that mind is anatma. Disturbances belong to anatma. Let me
remember my nature. Chidananda rupa Shivoham Shivoham.
Anatma cannot bring happiness to me. Anatma cannot take away happiness from
me. I may lose anatma. I cannot lose ananda. I have to register this to reduce my
attachment to anatma. All attachments are because of the misconception that my
joy will go away if I lose certain things or people. My life will be a gloom without
those things is a powerful misconception.
In vedantic meditation, I assert that I am not dependent on anything or any being
for ananda. Ananda is my nature. I have no fear of losing ananda. I am incapable of
losing ananda. I see this fact in vedantic mediation.
CHIDANANDA RUPA SHIVOHAM. SHIVOHAM. I repeat these words remembering the
meaning.

First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 14 was also
chanted. Meditation verses from Viveka Chudamani were also chanted.
The first step in vedantic meditation is change from triangular format of jiva, jagat
and Isvara to binary format of atma and anatma.
The entire world, body, mind and senses are all anatma. I am atma giving existence
to them. Every anatma is only name, form and function. They are born from me- sat
chit ananda atma .
The dream world is born out of me the waker. The waking world, body, mind and
senses are all anatma. They borrow existence from me – atma.
As a lender of existence, I am sat rupa atma. As a lender of consciousness, I am chit
rupa atma. As a lender of happiness, I am ananda rupa atma. I am sat chit ananda
atma.
Whenever we are happy, we think that the world and people give happiness to the
mind. We have a misconception that the world, relatives, name and fame gives
happiness. They lead to insecurity, worries and emotional problems. In vedantic
meditation I continuously remove this delusion.
Mind is not happy because of anatma. They appear to give happiness. Mind borrows
happiness from me – atma. Mind can never be permanently happy because it is
constantly changing. As situations change, minds also change. Mind receives fleeting
happiness now and then. Whatever be the condition of anatma, I remain sat chit
ananda atma.
CHIDANANDA RUPA SHIVOHAM. SHIVOHAM. I internalise this fact. I saturate my
sub-conscious mind with this awareness during worldly transactions also.
CHIDANANDA RUPA SHIVOHAM. SHIVOHAM.
Universal prayer was chanted and the meditation session concluded.
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 15 was also

The first step in vedantic meditation is change from triangular format of jiva, jagat

The entire world, body, mind and senses are all anatma. I am atma giving existence

whenever mind is happy. Existence, consciousness and happiness are my nature.
Hence I will never lose them.
My existence appear in every object. My consciousness appear in every living being.
My happiness appear in every happy living being. I am the all pervasive sat chit
ananda atma. The world is opposite to this.
I am atma. I internalise this fact. It should go deep in my sub conscious mind. Even
when I go back to triangular format of worldly transactions, I should never forget
this. I do not tell this to the common man. But I never never forget this fact.
AHAM SAT CHIT ANANDA SVARUPOHAM.
Universal prayer was chanted and the meditation session concluded.
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 16 was also
chanted. Meditation verses from Viveka Chudamani were also chanted.
The first step in vedantic meditation is change from triangular format of jiva, jagat
and Isvara to binary format of atma and anatma.
The meaning of I in triangular format is body, mind, sense complex. This identity is
false. But it is required for transactions. The false identity is the cause of samsara.
The real I is atma. My aim is to replace false I with real I. I can replace by change of
format. There is a paradigm shift. From anatama to atma, from changing to non-
changing.
In the field of anatma, unpredictable things happen all the time. Constant fight
happens between fate and freewill. Success and failure alternate. Bhagavan has
facilitated this cosmic drama. No one can stop this. This is the beginning less,
endless story of anatma. I understand this. I acknowledge this. I allow the anatma
to go through its motion without resistance.
In vedantic meditation, I see this fact about anatma at body level, mind level,
senses level, family level, social level and envirornmental level. I do not deny or
negate them. I understand and acknowledge. Anatma is not me. Anatma is mithya.
It is adhyasa. What ever happens in antama, cannot touch me, create a dent in me
or create a scar in me.
I am atma, am like all pervading space, far away from being touched by anatma
events. Like space, I accommodate them. But I remember that I am asanga.
I am like the sunlight which pervades every object, illumine every object, but not
touched or contaminated by any of those objects. The dirtiest object cannot makde
the sunlight dirty. I am like the sunlight.
I am like the mountain, unshaken even by the fiercest cyclone. I am unaffected and
unshaken by situations.
I am like the ocean. I am the boundless, existence, consciousness principle.

I lend existence, consciousness and happiness to the body, mind, which appear
sentient. I am an embodiment of ananda.

There are two benefits of vedantic meditation:
1. Emotional benefit: There is dilution of ahankara, mamakara, raga and dvesha.
FIR (frequency, intensity and recovery period of emotional disturbances)
reduction happens. This is a bye product.
2. Intellectual benefit: The primary benefit is internalisation of the Vedanta
teaching. I assimilate the maha vakyam more and more. I look upon myself
as ever free atma.
Moksa is not my goal. It is my nature. Under all conditions, I am atma. Anatma is
affected as per prarabda. I accept his fact. Death is the most natural phenomenon. I
objectively watch the changing anatma. I remain changless atma.
First Bhagavad Gita dhyana sloka was chanted. Bhagavad Gita Chapter 18 verses
from 40 were also chanted. Meditation verses from Viveka Chudamani were also
chanted.
There are two benefits of vedantic meditation when regularly and sincerely
practised:
1. Emotional benefit: Anatma gets dilued. There is dilution of ahankara,
mamakara, raga and dvesha. FIR (frequency, intensity and recovery period of
emotional disturbances) reduction happens. Weaking of jiva bhava happens.
This is a bye product.
2. Intellectual benefit: The primary benefit is internalisation of the Vedanta
teaching. I look upon myself as ever free atma. Anatma is not totally under
my control. It is governed by karma. In and through all ups and downs of
anatma, I remain unaffected.
Like space, I am unattached by what is accommodated. Like mountain I remain
unshaken. Like ocean, I am unperturbed. I remain unaffected by whatever happens
to the body. This is jnana nishta.
I AM EVER FREE ATMA. MOKSA IS MY NATURE.

First Dakshinamurthy Stotram was chanted. Meditation verses from Viveka

Vedantic meditation is not for removal of thought, not for acquiring any new
knowledge, and not for getting any new experience. Vedantic meditation is to give a
new orientation to the usual way of thinking.
The primary benefit of vedantic meditation is seeing my identity with atma. The
secondary benefit is reduction of emotional disturbance. Whatever be the condition
of anatma, I am ever free atma. Moksa is my very nature. This is jnana nishta.
Body, mind, family, possession, profession are all anatma. They are subject to
change as per law of karma. I have nothing to do with any one of them. Anatma
world appear and disappear in me. I am satyam. Entire universe is a bubble in the
ocean, which is myself. I remain the changless adistanam.

I am satyam. All others are mithya. I am the only reality. Whatever I experience is
like a dream. This is the binary format which I internalise.
During worldly transactions, I have to play the role of a jiva in the triangular format.
I cannot avoid. I should have the facility to change the format privately whenever I
want. I should have the facility to withdraw into the green room and invoke the
binary format whenever I want. Whenever I go through physical and emotional
challenges, I should be able to withdraw into the green room and abide as Brahman.
AHAM BRAHMASMI. I shall never forget this at any time under any circumstance.
AHAM BARHAMASMI.
Universal prayer was chanted and the meditation session concluded.
Let any thing happen to anatma. Body, mind, family, possession, and profession. I
am ready. I have no anxiety or fear. I am prepared to accept anything that happens
to anatma. This is useful but not primary.
At any time, even during the time of death, I can claim that I am atma. This is
jnana nishta. This is the primary gain of vedantic meditation.
World rises in me, rests in me and resolves into me. I am Brahman. I need not
declare this to a common man. I should be able to claim this within myself, without
any doubt, without any reservation. This is atma nishta or Brahma nishta or jnana
nishta.
