Prof Ed 1 - Task5

Erikson's psychosocial theory of development proposes that personality develops in a series of eight stages from infancy to late adulthood. Each stage is associated with a psychosocial crisis which focuses on developing certain virtues. The first stage from birth to 1 year focuses on trust vs mistrust and developing a sense of hope. The second stage from 1-3 years focuses on autonomy vs shame/doubt and developing willpower. Subsequent stages center around developing purpose, competence, fidelity, love, care/work, and wisdom. Successful completion of each stage supports healthy development in later stages and adulthood.
