Research Protocol NG Group2

This research protocol aims to study the feasibility of using gumamela (Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis) and rose petals as an alternative to cologne. The researchers will soak 5 gumamela petals and 15 rose petals in 10 ml of soju for 24-48 hours to make a cologne. They will observe how long it takes for the cologne to develop a fragrance and record videos and photos. The experiment will test if the gumamela and rose petals can effectively act as a cologne ingredient and determine the most effective concentration. Observations of the experiment will be recorded and analyzed to evaluate if the flowers are a feasible alternative cologne option.

RESEACH PROTOCOL

PROJECT TITLE:
The Feasibility of Gumamela (Hibiscus-rosa sinensis) and Rose (Rosa) Petals as an Alternative Cologne.

PROJECT SUMMARY:
Cologne is a liquid mixture that creates a pleasing odor. Perfume/cologne were typically pricey and
mostly used by the upper classes to represent their nobility. The flower called ‘rose’ is commonly used as
a fragrance of perfumes. Rose is a part of the family rosceae and the genus rosa, which has over one fifty
species. Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis or also called as Gumamela is not commonly used as a perfume or
cologne a fragrance, not like the rose. Gumamela have a bushy habit from a blooming and average height.

In a nutshell, the researchers aim to study the feasibility of gumamela (Hibiscus Rosa-Sinensis) and Rose
(Rosa) petals as an alternative cologne.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

RATIONAL:

This study aims to identify if the gumamela and rose petals is feasible as an alternative cologne. It is also
aimed to help people most specially teenagers to save more money, because teenagers don’t have a job to
buy an expensive perfume or cologne,

OBJECTIVES:

1. To determine if the gumamela and rose petals feasible to act as an alternative cologne.

2. to determine the most effective concentration of the gumamela and rose extract.

METODOLOGY

RESEARCH DESIGN:

Posttest-Test Only Control Group Design

- A type of experimental design that uses random assignment, an experimental, a

control group, and a posttest, but does not utilize a pretest.
INTERVENTIONS:

The researchers will be gathering the materials (Gumamela, rose petals and Soju) then wash the petals.
after that the researcher will put 5 gumamela petals and 15 rose petals in the container and put 10 ml Soju.
Soak the petals in the soju for 24 to 48 hours.

OBSERVATIONS:

The researcher will observe how will it take for the cologne to have a better fragrance, the researchers
will record videos and take pictures while experimentation is being observed.

SAMPLE SIZE:

The researchers will use 5 gumamela petals and 15 rose petals and 10 ml soju because they hypothesized
that if the researchers will use this number of petals and soju the cologne will have a better fragrance.

DATA MANAGEMENT AND ANALYSIS:

The researchers will conduct an experiment to test if the gumamela and rose petals will be effective as an
alternative cologne. While experimenting the researchers will observe how will the cologne fragrance will
be. While observing, the observation will be recorded by taking notes of the experiments, doing videos
and photos. Then it will be encoded afterwards.
