Pattern Parrot Pico

Material Used stitches

Approx 15 grams cotton for the body ch = chain

Approx 10 grams for the head sl.st = slip stitch

Approx 10 grams for the wings sc = single crochet

Approx 10 grams for the beak and the legs sc2tog = single crochet two

Approx 10 grams in 3 colors for the tail stitches together

A little bit white for the eye spots

2,5 mm crochet hook

6 mm black safety eyes

Synthetic filling

If necessary felt for the spots


EYE SPOT (MAKE 2)

Crochet 2ch

1. 6sc in the last chain from the hook

2. 2sc in each sc, repeat (12sc)

3. 3sc, 2sc in the next sc, repeat (15sc)

4. hdc, 2dc in 1sc, 1hdc, 1sl.st

BODY + HEAD

You start at the bottom of the body.

Crochet 2ch

1. 6sc in the last chain from the hook

2. 2sc in each sc, repeat (12sc)

3. 1sc, 2sc in the next sc, repeat (18sc)

4. 2sc, 2sc in the next sc, repeat (24sc)

5. 3sc, 2sc in the next sc, repeat (30sc)

6. 4sc, 2sc in the next sc, repeat (36sc)

7. 5sc, 2sc in the next sc, repeat (42sc)

8. 13sc, 2sc in the next sc, repeat (45sc)

9. 45sc, crochet in the back loop only (45sc)

10-15. 45sc (6 rows)

16. 13sc, sc2tog, repeat (42sc)

17. 42sc

18. 5sc, sc2tog, repeat (36sc)

Stuff the body.

37. 7sc, sc2tog, repeat (24sc)

39. 2sc, sc2tog, repeat (18sc)

Place the safety eyes through the eye spots and the head .

Place the safety eyes between row 31 and row 32 with 2sc between space.

Stuff the body.

40. 1sc, sc2tog, repeat (12sc)

Stuff the body further on.

41. sc2tog, repeat (6sc)

Close the head.

Sew the eye spots on the head (see photo).

Crochet 45sc along the front loops of row 9 so you get a raised edge (see photo).

Close with a sl.st. in the first sc.

Tie off.

Crochet a picot edge along the front loops of row 27 (see photo):

*Crochet 3ch, 1sc in the first ch, skip 1 stitch, 1sl.st*

Repeat** 14 times and close with a sl.st. in the first picot.

Tie off.

BEAK

Crochet 2ch

1. 6sc in the last chain from the hook

2. 6sc

3. 1sc, 2sc in the next sc, repeat (9sc)

4. 2sc, 2sc in the next sc, repeat (12sc)

5. 3sc, 2sc in the next sc, repeat (15sc)

6. 4sc, 2sc in the next sc, repeat (18sc)

7. 5sc, 2sc in the next sc, repeat (21sc)

8-9. 21sc (2 rows)

10. 5sc, sc2tog, repeat (18sc)

Stuff the beak.

Stuff the beak, the top doesn’t have to be stuffed.

Sew the beak just above the shell border on the head (see photo).

Fold the top of the beak a little bit down (see photo).

HEAR

Crochet 10ch

Tie off.

Fold the hear and sew the hear on the head (see photo).

WING (MAKE 2)

Crochet 2ch

1. 6sc in the last chain from the hook

2. 2sc in each sc, repeat (12sc)

3. 1sc, 2sc in the next sc, repeat (18sc)

4-7. 18sc (4 rows)

8. 4sc, sc2tog, repeat (15sc)

9-11. 15sc (3 rows)

12. 3sc, sc2tog, repeat (12sc)

13-15. 12sc (3 rows)

16. 2sc, sc2tog, repeat (9sc)

17. 9sc

18. 1sc, sc2tog, repeat (6sc)

19. 1sc, sc2tog, repeat (4sc)

Close the wing.

Sew the wings between row 23 and row 24 on both sides of the body.

Sew only the round top of the wing (see X-X on the photo).

TAIL (MAKE 3)

The tail consists of three feathers (see photo).

Crochet each feather in a different color.

Crochet 2ch

1. 6sc in the last chain from the hook

2. 1sc, 2sc in the next sc, repeat (9sc)

3. 2sc, 2sc in the next sc, repeat (12sc)

4-6. 12sc (3 rows)

7. sc2tog , 10sc (11sc)

8. sc2tog, 9sc (10sc)

9. sc2tog, 8sc (9sc)

10. 9sc

11. sc2tog, 7sc (8sc)

12. 8sc

13. sc2tog, 6sc (7sc)

14. 7sc

15. sc2tog, 5v (6sc)

17. sc2tog , 4sc (5sc)

Close the feather.

Sew the three feathers on the back side of the body (see photo).

LEG (MAKE 2)

Crochet 2ch

1. 6sc in the last chain from the hook

2. 6sc

3. 1sc, 2sc in the next sc, repeat (9sc)

Close the leg with 4sc.

Don’t tie off, you need this yarn to crochet the toes (see photo 1-4 on the next page).

Crochet 4ch

Start in the secound sc from the hook and crochet 3sc, skip one stitch, 1sl.st

Crochet 5ch

Start in the secound sc from the hook and crochet 4sc, skip one stich, 1sl.st

Crochet 4ch

Start in the secound sc from the hook and crochet 3sc, skip one stich, 1sl.st in the last stitch
