TOY Owl

Crochet pattern

Crochet pattern by Tanya Makarova (Translation by
Victoriya Shevchuk)
Size of ready toy is 23-25 cm.

Size of the toys depended from yarn thickness, hook thickness or solidity of
crocheting.

Materials
 Yarn:
 Yarn Alize Diva (microfiber) 100g/350 m – #383 (milky beige);
 Yarn Alize Diva (microfiber) 100g/350 m – #369 (caramel);
 Yarn Gazzal Baby Cotton (60% cotton/40% acrylic) 50 g/225 m – #3413 (light-yellow);
 Yarn Alize Diva (microfiber) 100g/350 m – orange
 Tread for embroidering – black and white
 Crotchet 1,6 mm (crochet 1,25 mm additionally)
 Fiberfill
 Needle

Pull up the hole. Fix and cat yarn. Hide tail inside detail.

Now we pull up line of neck a little.
Stretch thread through neck with needle. Input and take of needle skipping 2 simple crochet (look at
photo 1). Then drag thread (look photo 2), tie knot and hide inside detail.

Feathers
You need about 70 milky beige feathers and about 140 caramel ones.
Tips: don`t knit all feathers at first. Knit few detail, sew one row of them, than knit feathers for next row.

How make feather


9 ch, from 2 ch 2 hdc, 2 dc, 2 tc, 4 tc at one 8th chain; at other side – 2 tc, 2 dc, 2 hdc. Leave little tail
nd

(about 2 cm) and cut yarn


Tip: Beginning thread (tail) lay along chain (look at photo). If you do this you hide tail inside feather.
When you finish detail you can cut beginning thread.

Scheme of knitting

Sew up feathers

1st (lower) row sew up between 19th and 20th rounds of


body. One half of row (front) – milky-beige feathers, other
half (back) – caramel ones.
At fist fix feathers with pins.
Feather must be closely to each other.

Sew up details to body (use same colors yarn as feathers)

After sewing row hide tails inside body.

Next rows of feathers sew to body after 3-4 rounds.

Sew feathers only to line of neck (only body, not head)

Eyes (2 details)
Yellow rounds
Knit with light-yellow yarn
Rnd 1: ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (total 6 sc)
Rnd 2: 6 inc (total 12 sc)
Rnd 3: (1 sc, 1 inc)x6 (18 sc)
Rnd 4: (2 sc, 1 inc)x6 (24 sc)

Knit with black thread for embroider (fold down 4 time), use

– 3 sc in 3 ch, 1 inc (total 12)

Sew black pupil to yellow round, sew closer to edge (look at


photo), but don`t touch last round of yellow detail.

Eyelids
Knit with light-milky yarn
Rnd 1: ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (total 6 sc)
Rnd 2: 6 inc (total 12 sc)

Don`t cut yarn

Bisect detail and put to upper part of yellow round (look at photo). Mark 20 sc at yellow round with
pins. Knit at all 3 parts 20 sc.
You must input crochet into yellow side of detail!!!

Reapeat all action for other eye.

Mark place for eyes at 5th round from neck with pins.

Sew eyes to head around, but leave 2 cm to fill eyes
Fill details with fiberfill
Sew up eyes finally. Thread hide inside detail

Sew 3-4 loops of eyes together at nose bridge.

Now we`ll lower the corner of eyelid.


For this stitch few times the corner, pull yarn down
and sew it bellow (look at photos).

Pin up caramel feathers to head (around eyes) as


at photo and sew up them.

Strip for eyes` framing
Knit wit caramel yarn.
80 ch (the quantity of chain can be other, it’s depend from yarn and knitting density), 1 sc on 2nd loop;
78 sc, but input crochet under chain (look at photos); 1 sc at last loop.
Leave long tail to sew.

Put strip around eyes, pin it.

Sew up strip. Input needle into front half-loop.

Beak
Knit with orange yarn
Upper part
Rnd 1: ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (total 6 sc)
Rnd 2: 6 sc

Now sew up pupils of 2 eyes over beak. Use black yarn. Fix thread and hide tail.

Wing consist from 5 little feathers (as for body) and 3 big ones.

Big feathers

Knit 15 ch, from 2nd ch 1hdc, 1 dc, 11 tc, 4 tc at last loop;


at other side – 11 tc, 1 dc, 1 hdc.
Cut yarn.

Assambly of wing

Knit at 3 big feathers.


Rnd 1: 8 sc
Knit such way: 2 sc at 1st feather, then knit sc as decrease
(take 1st loop at 1st feather and 2nd loop at 2nd feather), 2 sc
at 2nd feather, decrease at 2nd and 3rd feather simultaneously,
2 sc at 3rd feather.

Then knit detail with direct and reverse rounds


Rnd 2-3: 1 ch, 8 sc, turn detail
Rnd 4: 1 ch, 6 sc, 1 dec, turn detail
Rnd 5: 1 ch, 5 sc, 1 dec, turn detail

Cut 3 caramel thread 10-12 cm for every


ears (total 6)

Stretch treads trough ear (look at photos, tie a knot, cut


excess threads.
