Tip (make it right) Tip (make it right) Abbreviations

If there are no special notes, the When making toys the right side ch(s) = chain(s)
toy is crocheted under both looks like this: inc(s) = increasing(s) (2 sc in 1 st)
parts of the loop. In some rows, double inc = double increasing (3
there are special notes: ‘into the sc in 1 st)
front loop only’ or ‘into the back double dec = double decreasing
loop only’. In that case, you (single crochet three together)
need to follow these st(s) = stitch(es)
instructions. dec(s) = decreasing(s) (sc2tog)
sc2tog = single crochet two
And the backside looks like this: stitches together
sl st = slip stitch
sc = single crochet
dc = double crochet
dc inc = 2 dc in one st
rnd = round

If there is a record in the brackets

in the pattern, multiplied by some
number, for example (3 sc, 1 inc) x
3, it means you need to repeat this
action 3 times, that is 3 sc, 1 inc, 3
TIP (yarn and wire)
sc, 1 inc, 3 sc, 1 inc.
If you use different yarn, the toy will be bigger or smaller and you will
need more or less yarn and wire than stated in the pattern (i.e. thicker
yarn will produce a larger toy and you may require more yarn and wire).

If you decide to use thicker yarn you should buy thicker wire as well. The
thicker your yarn the taller the toy will be.

Tip (gauge)

When making toys, you should use a much smaller hook than
recommended for the yarn you choose.
Make sure you crochet tight enough; otherwise, the stuffing will show
through the holes.

Stuff the body and the legs tightly. You can put some
weight into each breast (into the lower part only
stuffing the upper part) to make it droop. The wire
frame for my toy is 62 cm/24.4 inches. The wire should
show stick out of the leg’s bottom parts by the length
amounting to the double length of the foot.
Bend the wire for the arms and hide it inside the body.

You don’t have to join wire frame for the arms and wire
frame for the body.
Make a small loop at each wire end of the leg frame.
Secure it with a tape and insert it into the foot through
