TIP S A ND ADV IC E

Before starting on the project, start by reading the entire pattern to give yourself an idea
of what you are going to have to crochet. You may need to brush up on some stitches or techniques.
Books and magazines, Internet and video tutorials might be helpful !

Unless I specify some other way, you are going to work in rounds, in a continuous spiral.
To know which round you’re on and count with ease, use a stitch marker
(that you will move and place at the beginning of each new round).

Before the slip knot of a chain, before starting a magic ring, or even
at the end of your work before fastening off, always leave a looong yarn tail. It will help for sure !
To test a spot and check a position, to sew or to tweak…

To nish, if you are a left handed crocheter (which I am not)

the included step by step pictures and illustrations will be mirrored for you.

AB BREVIATI ONS (U S T ER M S ) A ND T E R MIN OLOGY

There are several ways to write a crochet pattern, some terms and formulations may vary from one author to
another. To easily follow my pattern, see below for the wording I use :

st(s) stitch(es)

slst slip stitch

ch chain
sc single crochet
hdc half double crochet
dc double crochet
tr treble crochet
FLO front loop only
BLO back loop only
inc increase = 2 single crochet in the same space, unless otherwise
speci ed / EXAMPLE inc-tr = 2 treble crochet stitches in the same space.
dec decrease
rw(s) row(s)
rd(s) round(s)
* colour change
(…) x repeat instructions the indicated number of times

[…] total number of stitches at the end of the row/round
NOTE I never count the chain stitches in the [total]

TENSI ON AN D SA M PL E

We all crochet differently, no matter the way the most important thing is to keep your yarn tension consistent.
To get as close as possible to the model I propose, check your tension by making this sample :

Rd1. 6sc in a magic ring [06]

Rd2. 6inc [12]
Rd3. (1sc, 1inc) x6 [18]

When made with RICORUMI DK and a 2.5 mm crochet hook, this little circle is 2.5 cm diameter.

The choice of colours, yarn and size of the crochet hook is totally up to you !
I’ve noted the ones I used for informational purposes.

You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout I’m telling you why…
Santa Claus is comin’ to town !

I have always wondered how one man, in a single night could :

travel the whole earth, long, wide and across,
go down in each chimney (and also climb up it),
nd the Christmas tree location in the darkness of an unknown house,
give unerringly the right presents to the right person,
take time to nibble a cookie and drink a glass of milk…
And everything without making the slightest noise ?!?

It clicked, or should I say it TILTed !

SANTA CLAUS has a secret under his beanie !
