Subject:- R estructuring the Cadre Strength of Odisha Forest Servtce (OFS) Cadre
In order to facilitate smooth management of forests and wild life in the state as well as
implementation of several projects & schemes, and to create better promotional avenues for
the Odisha Forest Service Offcers, restructuring of the Cadres of the Odisha Forest Service was
under consideration of the Government for some time. After careful consideration, Government
have been pleased to restructure the Cadre Strength of the Odisha Forest Service by way of
creating 76 (Seventy Six) posts with 55 posts oF Forest Range Offlcers, OFS (croup-B) in Level-
10 (G.P Rs,4600/) (for Leave, Deputation and Training Reserve (LDR)), 10 (Ten) posts
of Deputy Conservator of Forests, OFS-I Group-A (Senior Branch) in Level-13 (c.p, Rs.6600/-),
07 (Seven) posts of Deputy Conseryator of Forests (Super l]me Scale) in Level-14 (G.i.
Rs,7600/-), 03 (Three) post of Deputy Conservator of Forests (Superior AdministraUve Grade)
in levei-15) (G.P Rs.8700/) and 01 (One) post of Addt. Conservator of Forests, OFS (Special
Secretary Grade) in Level-17 (G.P Rs,9000/, in addition to the exiting cadre of Odisha Forest
Service 982 nos. of OFS Offlcers as per Forest & Environment Department Resolution No.
6958/F&E dated 06.04.2017.

 The entry level qualification for Forester is +2 Science and Forest Ranger is Graduation in
Science subject. As a Forester can rise up to ACF on promotion, the Finance Department vide
their UOI No. 164 PSF dtd.12.01.2017 have suggested that who has graduation qualiflcation
should be selected to the next post of ACF. This provision is to be inserted in the Cadre Rules of
Odisha Forest Service by Amendment for better prospect of the Cadre.
This has been concurred in by the Finance Department vide FE&CC OSWAS Flle No.FE-
FE1-FE-0055-2019 (Go!t. order obtained in F.D. file No,FIN-ES1-CADRE-0009-2020).
This has the approval of cabinet in their 58th meeting held on 24.04.2023.
