     ABOUT MAHARASHTRA MEDICAL COUNCIL
• Maharashtra Medical Council is the oldest body and successor body of the old Bombay Medical
  Council, which was established in September,1912 and was in existence till bifurcation of old
  Bombay State. The first meeting of the Bombay Medical Council was held on 24th September,
  1912 under the President ship of Mr. H. W. Stevenson. In his speech Mr. H. W. Stevenson said
  that, there is a vast difference between liberty and license. He further said that, registration of
  medical man stamps him with the approval of the Government of the Country and it is accepted
  as a guarantee of his professional integrity.
• In the year 1929 the Bombay Municipal Corporation, in its meeting held on 27th October, 1929,
  unanimously passed a resolution that, private dispensaries, who dispense medicine after
  examination of patient and where there is no sale of medical drugs should be exempted of
  payment for Shop Act. In 1917 Government of Bombay amended the Bombay Medical Council
  Act, 1912 and made the provision of reciprocal registration system between the two Councils. On
  recommendation of the Bombay Medical Council, the Code of Medical Ethics was suggested for
  the guidance of the Medical Practitioners. There are three principles, which may be regarded as
  the corner stone of Medical Ethics that, medical man should respect his colleagues, his patients
  and his Country. In the year 1913, the total registered members of the Bombay Medical Council
  were 1137, which were increased to 13192 in 1952. The Maharashtra Medical Council has
  registered 1,54,683 doctors as on 31-07-2020.

The Names, Registration Numbers, Registration Dates, and their qualifications of
Registered Medical Practitioners are available to the public at one click on the Council
website and accessible worldwide through website of Council. Updating records of
Registration Processes from RMP’s online is provided through this website.
   THE COUNCIL HIRED A CLOUD SERVER TO MAKE ONLINE
    FACILITIES AVAILABLE AS PART OF THE DIGITISATION
                        PROCESS.
The Council has its own cloud and details of information 1,54,683 Registered
Medical Practitioners upto Dec-2019 and all is available on the website on the
cloud server of the Council. Each RMP has his own individual web page.
     ISO-9001 CERTIFICATE SHOWING QUALITY/STATUS TO

services Council has applied for as
per International standard ISO-
9001. Council has received ISO-
9001 certification on 07/10/2017.
         A MOBILE APP HAS BEEN MADE AVAILABLE FOR
            REGISTERED MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS.
Registered Medical Practitioners are submitting online applications to the Council
through Mobile App from all over the country. Also, the Names, Registration
Numbers, Registration Dates, and Educational Qualifications of the Registered
Medical Practitioners are available to the public through Mobile App .
FACILITATE ONLINE APPLICATION OF REGISTERED MEDICAL
       PRACTITIONERS ON THE COUNCIL WEBSITE.
Provided facility for students and RMPs to apply for online Registration for
Provisional   Registration,   Permanent     Registration,   Additional   Qualification
Registration, Duplicate Certificate, Change of Name, Change of Address, Certificate
of Good Standing, No Objection Certificate and pay their prescribed fee online.
  PROVIDED FACILITY FOR RENEWAL OF REGISTRATION OF
    REGISTERED MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS UNDER THE
                DIGITISATION PROCESS
The Renewal of Registration process has been made available by the Council to 1,59,790
of Registered Medical Practitioners from all over the country through Mobile App /
Computer on online. Therefore, allows them to renew their registration digitally.
      DECENTRALIZATION OF PROVISIONAL REGISTRATION
To apply for the provisional registration, all the students of the Government Medical
Colleges & Private Medical Colleges who had passed MBBS, immediately by uploading the
required certificates and paying their fee, and authorizing the concerned practitioners to
verify and certify their application from their Dean. Due to which the students are not
required to come for verification at the Council office, they are saving time and money.
         DIGITISATION OF GOOD STANDING CERTIFICATE
Council has started issuing Good Standing Certificate to Registered Medical
Practitioner who travel to other state or abroad for practice or for educational
purpose. This certificate can be obtained through mobile app/computer with the help
of DIGITISATION of certificate through online process.
             DIGITISATION NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE
Council issues No Objection Certificate to Registered Medical Practitioner for
interstate   medical   practice.   This   certificate   can   be   availed   from   mobile
app/computer with the help of DIGITISATION of certificate through online process.
  REGISTRATION OF REGISTERED MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS
     PERMANENT REGISTRATION AND DIGITISATION OF
              ADDITIONAL REGISTRATION
Registered Medical Practitioners are given Permanent Registration and Additional
Qualification Registration Certificates from the Council, online certificates are being
made available due to the digitisation of submitted certificates.
   DIGITISATION OF CHANGE OF NAME, CHANGE OF ADDRESS OF
             REGISTERED MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS
Registered Medical Practitioners are given letters from the council to change
their name, address change, and online certificates are being made available
due to the digitisation of the letter.
 DIGITISATION TO SAVE RECORDS OF REGISTERED MEDICAL
                    PRACTITIONERS
Council have been digitalised and updated total 19,28,870 registration records of
Registered Medical Practitioners from year 1912 and DIGITISATION of remaining
records is in progress.
 COUNCIL HAS STARTED E-PAY FACILITY OF STATE BANK OF
                        INDIA
Registered    Medical     Practitioners   had   to   pay   registration   fees   through
cash/cheque/Demand Draft. But, Council has stopped this offline procedure and
started E-pay facility of State Bank of India to save time and money of Registered
Medical Practitioners.
        PERMANENT CERTIFICATES AND ADDITIONAL
  QUALIFICATION CERTIFICATES WITH SECURITY FEATURES.
Council has introduced Permanent Registration and Additional Qualification
Certificates with security features so that they cannot be duplicated and fabricated
 CONTINUED PROFESSIONAL DEVLOPMENT TO ENRICH THE
 KNOWLEDGE OF REGISTERED MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS IN
         THE STATE FOR BENEFIT OF PATIENTS
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) workshops are being approved by the
Council in accordance with the prescribed procedure to enhance the knowledge and
benefit of the Registered Medical Practitioners in the State.
    THE INFORMATION PROVIDED BY REGISTERED MEDICAL
      PRACTITIONERS TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC IS MADE
             AVAILABLE THROUGH MOBILE APP
The name, registration number, and educational qualification of the Registered
Medical Practitioner have been made available to the general public in one click by
mobile app. This empowers the public to get details of qualification of their doctors
on mobile app thus bringing transparency.
  FOUR ETHICAL COMMITTEES HAVE BEEN CONSTITUTED TO
SETTLE PENDING COMPLAINTS AGAINST REGISTERED MEDICAL
                   PRACTITIONERS.
 Council has constituted four ethics committees to expedite the disposal of pending
 complaints received against Registered Medical Practitioners.
                    ABOUT CODE OF MEDICAL ETHICS
The Council requires preserving and pursuing the Medical ethics and compelled the
RMPs to follow the Ethics at all levels is one of the most important functions laid down
to maintain the Dignity, Decorum and Sanctity of Medical profession.
If any practitioner violates the said Professional Ethics, the Council shall have to
conduct enquiry under section (22) of MMC Act, 1965 and rules 62-75 of MMC Rules,
1967 and give punishment as per section (22) of said Act. The Council or the Executive
Committee, as the case may be, shall have the same powers as are vested in Civil Courts
being quasi-judicial body.
The Council shall have an authority to call on the governing body or authorities of any
Medical College or school and any examining body included in or desirous of being
included in the schedule or examination held by such body or authorities or any school
or college and the council have authority to attend the same.
   ABOUT CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)
Medical Science is dynamic and it is essential for the doctor to update their Medical
knowledge and become acquainted with the advances in medicine. This is in essence
the concept of Continuing Medical Education (CME). Tremendous advances are
taking place in the field of medical sciences, continuously changing the concept,
approach to management and the outcome of several diseases. The rapid pace of
these advancement makes it mandatory for doctors to keep themselves updated so
that they may apply the information to their practice & thus fortify his/her
competence and knowledge by keeping abreast with the latest developments in the
field. Therefore, the council has started the CME program in the month of April-2010.
The Council authorised accredited organisation, associations, medical colleges to
conduct CME programs are issued accreditation certificates. The accredited
organisation organizes CME programs and issues Credit Hours Certificate, to the
Registered Medical Practitioners who attend the same.
    ONE OF A KIND INITIATIVE BY THE STATE GOVERNMENT
          AND MMC STARTED ONLINE CPD PORTAL
Maharashtra Medical Council, under the Digital India initiative of Government of
Maharashtra, has launched state of art Online CME Portal for doctors for the first time
in the State. These online CME modules are under the aegis of reputed Medical
Institutes/Associations.
Through this novel initiative we are trying to reach over One lakh RMPs in Maharashtra
who may not have the time to attend physical conferences, CMEs and are extremely
busy working in metros, rural or tier 2 cities. Through the enhanced learning
experience of this online platform and accessibility over smartphone/computer in the
comfort of one's home or clinic, we are taking continuous medical education to the next
level. RMPs can now earn online CME credits at their convenience as per the
regulations of MMC.
CMEs are intended for practicing doctors as well as PG students to update their
knowledge as well as stay updated with the latest developments in medicine. The main
features of the online platform include access from their mobile or laptop at their
convenience, highly engaging video lectures from top experts accredited by reputed
Associations/Institutes, Face recognition for identity validation, etc. The guidelines for
accreditation shall be notified online on MMC's website.
                          ONLINE CPD PORTAL
• For purpose of enlightenment of Registered Medical Practitioners and to get benefit for
  treatment of patients, council have been recognising “Continuing Professional Development”
  (CPD) workshops plan through prescribed methodology. As per guidelines of MCI,
  workshops are awarded credit points. Registered Medical Practitioners require 30 credit
  points within 5 years for renewal of registration.
• Registered Medical Practitioners can enlighten their education and it will be benefitted for
  treatment of patients. The digital platform is benefitted specifically for rural area and small
  town Registered Medical Practitioners of Maharashtra to grow their knowledge and skills.
• Maharashtra Medical Council is first council in India to start online CPD procedure.
  Therefore, the knowledge of Registered Medical Practitioners will grow and treatment
  developed by highly trained practitioner at national and international level will available to
  them.
