Staging and Consumption

The document describes new concepts for improved staging and consumption for production in warehouse management. The concepts optimize staging by considering production capacity and palletization. They allow for partial staging over time and flexible consumption quantities. This provides more accurate visibility and stock information for production planning and execution.

Improved Staging for Production
 Optimize staging for production: Consider PSA capacity, palletization
 Partial staging distributed over time line
 Report to create warehouse tasks in background
 User friendly desktop UI:
 Support user to further optimize staging
 Automatic quantity proposal for staging
 Overview with all relevant data: Requirements from production, existing stock in PSA
 Optional: API for staging /SCWM/IF_API_MFG_STAGE
 Reuse of existing EWM features, for example stock removal rules
 Warehouse task confirmation is identical to existing EWM business processes, no
additional end-user training

The new concept is especially relevant for staging when the production does
not need the material at one point in time but over a larger time range. As long
as there is a requirement from a production material request, the system will
propose to stage the product when there is not enough of it in the production
supply are (PSA). The quantity for one staging run can be configured according
to the quantity that is reasonable from the warehouse perspective (e.g. one or
multiple pallets).

Improved Consumption for Production
 Triggered in EWM  immediate stock update, always accurate stock in EWM
 Flexible quantities at goods issue: Partial goods issue or exceed planned quantity
 User friendly & nice UIs – Desktop and RF
 Lean integration to ERP  high performance, lower TCO - especially for high
number of goods issue postings

Ready for a Connection to a Manufacturing Execution System

 API concept: /SCWM/IF_API_MFG_CONSUMPTION

Independence from ERP System

 Post consumption in EWM while ERP is not available
 ERP update asynchronous when system is available
