shall be chemically cleaned (pickling and passivation) as per GS DEL PVV 175.

12. Inspection
12.1 Quality control
A fabrication and inspection surveillance plan is required for bulk fittings for Company approval.
The inspection and tests necessary to confirm that the products meet the requirements of the
standards, specifications and requisition shall be carried out in the Manufacturer’s plant by
personnel of the plant. These specially-qualified personnel shall be independent of the
production department of the plant.
Where heat treatment is applicable, uniformity and time of heat treatment shall be verified and
recorded. Furnace shall be compliant to ASTM A991/A991M requirements.
Manufacturer shall ensure material traceability recording from raw material. To this extent,
individual identification for each fitting is required.
Manufacturer shall ensure radiographic examination traceability.
Products shall be guaranteed by an inspection certificate (conformity, material test, etc.). If the
Manufacturer does not have the necessary means of examination, these tests may be
subcontracted at a place approved by Company.

Quality control inspections shall be conducted in the Manufacturer’s plant so as to make sure of
the proper execution of the order. Quality control inspections shall include the witness of final
shop acceptance.
Quality control activities include dimensional checks and records of each individual welded
fitting.
Unlisted components shall withstand a hydrostatic test without leakage through the fitting wall.
This test shall be performed at the end of the manufacturing process, after final forming and
heat treatment where applicable). Exceptions listed in codes or standards are not acceptable.
Testing procedure shall be submitted for Company approval.

12.2 Acceptance
Quality Control shall not grant any acceptance unless the certificates concerning the products
submitted have been made available to it in advance.
In addition to checking the certificates, Quality Control shall check the quantities presented and
shall have checked, by sampling, the following characteristics:
• NDT reports
• Testing reports
• Delivery condition
• Hydrostatic test report or proof test report or calculation note
• Shapes and nominal dimension
• Dimensional tolerances
• Surface treatment and finish conditions
• Marking.
This sampling shall cover at least 5% of each of the items submitted for acceptance.
For each material grade, product analysis shall be carried out on a fitting selected among the
final products. Product analysis shall include chemical analysis and mechanical tests as detailed
on the material certificate of the final product. Fitting selection shall be carried out by Company
at random and shall be anticipated during the procurement stage.
The production test plan shall be organized to cover as many as possible of the material grades
and sources used for the fabrication of the following systems or lines:
• Process systems
• Lethal services
• Cycling systems
• Systems made of LTCS material, subject to autorefrigeration below -46°C
• Cryogenic systems
• Lines subject to vibrations.

The selection of fittings for testing shall be carried out by Company at random. The selection
shall be organized considering the following criteria:
• Fitting Stockist
• Fitting Manufacturer and manufacturing plant
• Material specification and grade
• Fitting type and diameter
• Fitting schedule or wall thickness
• Ratio of wall thickness to outside diameter
• Minimum design temperature
• Carbon equivalent value (carbon steel only)
• Final heat treatment conditions
• For a same material grade, the ratio of wall thickness to outside diameter is the prime
selection criteria compared to the wall thickness or diameter
• For carbon steel grades subject to PWHT, the PWHT treated condition is the prime
selection criteria selection compared to the as welded condition.
The non-conformity of any or all of the products submitted for acceptance may give rise:
• Either to a second submission after the products have been corrected, if this is possible
• Or to final rejection.
In case of stock procurement, 5% of the fittings shall be PMI and hardness tested verified.

14. Use of this General specification

The present document is designed to allow the use of individual Material Data Sheet (MDS) for
procurement and manufacturing stage.
The MDSs identify additional requirements deemed necessary by Company in order for the
materials to meet their intended life of service.

14.1 Material Data Sheets (MDSs)

The material Technical Sheets shall be used as supplementary requirements to existing
Material Specifications (ASTM…).
These reflect the additional requirements of Company imposed on the manufacturers, stockists
and suppliers in order to maintain a quality level that is consistent for the material being
supplied.
The MDSs shall not be used as stand-alone documents for procuring and manufacturing
metallic pipes.
The following minimum information shall be detailed to the manufacturer at bid stage:
• Product description
• Applicable Piping Class
• Service
• Fluid
• Design Pressure and Temperature
• Corrosion Allowance if any
• Dimensions and tolerances
• Quantities with additional materials for qualification testing purposes
• Coating
• Color Coding
• This General Specification requirements
• Any other project requirements.

15. Preparation for shipment

15.1 Markings

protected against carbon steel contamination and all CRA fittings shall be fully protected against
the risks of saline corrosion.
If paint is used to protect austenitic stainless steel pipes, it shall not:
• Contain chlorides or other substances that might damage these fittings
• Cover the bevels, if any.
When applied, protective coating of fittings shall not be detrimental to welding.

15.3 Packing
Sea-packing shall be used for all fittings and shall be detailed by appropriate purchasing
