Purpose : This manual specifies the installation, use and servicing conditions of the module type UNI-2 for
safety use in potentially explosive atmospheres

1. MARKING:
Regulatory marking allowing the device identification is affixed by engraving or on a specific label including the
following indications:

1.1. For models UNI-2 A0 and E0 variants

3. USE
Once equipped with batteries and fixed on the turbine body or on the enclosure extension, the electronics are
fonctionnal.
The operating temperature ranges from -20°C to 50°C.
Interfaces with the operator is by the keyboard and LCD display.

4. MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE


Apart from the calibration of counting operations no adjustment or special preventive maintenance is required.
The configuration settings can only be modified after tripping the micro switch located on the electronic board.
Only authorized personnel can modify the settings.
The batterie should be charge and change outside explosive area.
The following batteries shall be in explosive atmospheres.
- Ni-MH battery , size AA, manufacturing by PANASONIC type eneloop Pro

For charge in safe area, only use battery charger manufacturing by ALMA type ALMA Wireless Charger.

Non-working electronic board must be return to ALMA

2. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
The UNI-2 is a calculator indicator. It can be combined with four sensors. It can either be installed on a turbine
or with an enclosure extension.
An O-Ring provides sealing between the turbine or the enclosure extension. Ensure that the ring is in
place and has been lubricated before tightening the screw. The seal must be at least IP20.
The sensors are connected to the UNI-2 either inside the enclosure or through cable glands and terminal
blocks.
Maximum cable length from UNI-2 models to temperature sensors, liquid sensors and L7 to L9 case doesn’t
exceed 10 meters.

2.1. Variants:
The variant marking of the UNI-2 is readable inside the enclosure on a label plate comprising a letter and a
number defining the variant used.

6. SPECIAL CONDITIONS FOR SAFE USE


The using ambient temperature range of the electronic modules is comprised between -20°C and +50°C,
For variants A0 and E0 of electronic module type UNI-2, the apparatus must be powered by two batteries
connected in series from manufacturing Panasonic type Eneloop pro AA (size AA).
Batteries charging must be performed outside hazardous area with wireless charger from manufacturing
ALMA type ALMA Wireless charger.
The voltage source connected to terminals B3-1 and B3-2, for variants E0 and E1 of electronic module type
UNI2 must be from a certified type for using in gas groups IIC or IIB and its output circuit recognized as
intrinsically safe. Electrical output parameters of this voltage supply have not to exceed maximum input
characteristics defined into chapter 5.3 above.
Apparatuses connected to terminals referenced B1 and B3.3 to B3.6, from electronic module type UNI-2 (all
variants), must be of a certified type for using in gas group IIB and their association compatible from intrinsic
safety point of vue.

Maximum cable length from UNI-2 models to temperature sensors, liquid sensors and L7 to L9 case must
not exceed 10 meters.

During the installation, the user will have to take precautions in order to avoid any possible shock.

The documents will be translated in the language of the country of use.
