CUTTING-EDGE HOUSE - SNDLLP

Situated in a low rise colony of houses, and hi-rise apartments

set at a distance, this home is planned as a form that appears as
a playful block with numerous slits highlighting the facade. The
house faces the common road in front, which made it necessary
to give due importance to the privacy factor, which was also a
requirement of the client. The façade placed towards the west
appears as a canvas of white, which is contrasted by the pops
of greens peeing out of the slits. The sciography formed by the
trees on the façade, looks as if nature has painted a part of itself
on the façade wall.

Entrance

The plot spans across 6,300 sq ft with spacious interiors. The home belongs to a
renowned jeweller family in Pune who wanted five bedrooms, a Vaastu compliant house
with a sense of security. The manipulation of architecture, defined the interior spaces
with openness and natural ventilation throughout the day. The journey begins with an
entrance lobby that leads towards a narrow passage opening upto a double height living
room, cladded with glazing towards the east.

The sunlight penetrates through the glazing and brings in abundant natural light glowing
up the interiors. A waterfall feature is added in towards the backyard placed in the east
that treats the user with a soothing sight. The design harnesses, simple and modern
contemporary style, creating relaxing spaces for the family. The design pattern of the
slits is reflected in the interiors as well. This is visible in the partition of the passage and
the living room.

Master Bedroom

The private spaces are designed as per the personality and likes of the user. The bedroom,
bathroom and walk in wardrobes, were planned in the linear form, which received ample
amount of sunlight all through the day. A master bedroom with minimal and neutral
color palette keeps the rhythm of the space calm. The master bathroom fetches the
light from façade cut-outs making a beautiful experience for the user during anytime
of the day.

The elder son’s bedroom features an interesting play of vibrant colors like red, yellow
and aqua blue. The younger son, being an artist, his room was designed with hexagonal
pattern concrete blocks cladded into the walls. It also has its own media room.

Sophisticated and luxurious look of the house is a result of the minimal material palette.
This includes, grey Italian marble, Statuario, and a single-color veneer - American
walnut, which highlights the spaces throughout. Colors are added through home decors
products used for the kitchen, bedrooms, and other spaces. The house is weaved in a
unified pattern of lines as done for the facade.

The most unique feature was that, the entire house was designed in a same line pattern
used for flooring and cladding to maintain the continuity and concept of the house. The
house has a distinctive character, that sets it apart from the general single dwelling
residences.
