As the simplification of Chinese characters is in the interest of the masses, we intellectuals should not
just passively accept it but actively support it.

These four activities carried out by (empty words) the Communist groups gave a powerful impetus to the
dissemination of Marxism and to its (wrong antecedent) integration with the workers’ movement. Those intellectuals
who had just fostered their belief in communism gradually had profound changes in their thinking and their
feelings (vague) while they are integrating themselves with the workers (wrong emphasis, lack of logic connection, too long, repetition);
a number of workers had learned something about Marxism and raised their class awareness, both becoming
(to far removed) advanced elements of the proletariat.

These four activities of the Communist groups gave a powerful impetus to the dissemination of Marxism
and to their integration with the workers’ movement. In the process, those intellectuals who had only recently
come to believe in communism gradually underwent profound changes in their thinking and in their attitude
to workers. At the same time, a number of workers had learned something about Marxism and raised their
class awareness, so that both groups became advanced elements of the proletariat.
