                                              2.1.3 Intended use
The CLAAS swather is designed exclusively for
professional use according to recognized rules of
                                              agricultural practice in agricultural harvesting
                                              operations of forage plants.
The swather is an agricultural machine that is hitched
to a tractor approved/released by the manufacturer
and suitable and intended for swathing forage plants
on fields while travelling. Forage plants include crops
such as grass, lucerne and cereal straw.
                                                                   120739-002
                   2.1.4 Reasonably foreseeable misuse
Machine use outside of the intended use is a use not
provided for by the machine manufacturer and
therefore constitutes a misuse in the sense of the
Machinery Directive. The manufacturer will not be
liable for damage resulting from such misuse, but
instead the user will be solely responsible.
Such misuse of the CLAAS swather includes:

                     • Use of non-original CLAAS spare parts
                     • Stationary use
                     • Use for swathing goods which are not referred to
                       as forage plants, e.g. rubbish
                     • Use for aerating
                                                • Transporting of persons

                                                  machine to/from the tractor.
                                                • Before starting, check if the machine carries any
loose parts. Parts that may get lost while driving
must be fastened or covered up.

                                                • Check the area around the machine before
starting and before putting the machine into
                                                  operation (children!). Ensure adequate visibility.
                                                • When working with the PTO shaft, no persons are
allowed near the rotating PTO shaft or universal

     Function Description
 A Picking-up / raking The LINER 2700 / 2600 is a swather with two swathing rotors (1) which
produce one swath in the middle. The swathing rotors are driven by the
PTO shaft from the tractor. The tine arms (2) are fitted with spring
tines (3) that brush vertically over the ground, pick up the crop and
                                           transport it to the middle.
B Depositing A cam track control unit controls the spring tines (3) and the crop is
deposited next to the swathing rubber (4).
C Adapting The swathing rotors with their chassis (5) can adapt to uneven ground
both crosswise and longitudinally to the direction of travel.

The hydraulic connectors (2) include a female coupling

coupling must be installed on the tractor when the

Compressed air and/or pressurised water can cause
foreign bodies and/or hot water to be blown out. This
                              could result in personal injury.
When compressed air and/or pressurised water is
used for cleaning, wear protective clothing, protective
shoes, and a protective face shield. The eye protection

Relieve the pressure of compressed air, hydraulic or
                                              lubrication systems completely before disconnecting

Hot oil and hot components can cause personal injury.
Avoid any skin contact with hot oil or hot components.
For the proper procedure for relieving the system
pressure, see the operating and maintenance
                                              instructions of the machine.

                                              prevention
When the machine is equipped with electric
components, clean and tighten all electric connections.
                                                                                 122620-001
                              9.1.11 Lines, tubes and hoses
Never bend high-pressure lines. Do not knock on high-
pressure lines. Do not install bent or damaged lines.
Repair all loose or damaged lines. Leaks may cause a
fire. Contact the local spare parts dealer.
Check lines, pipes and hoses carefully. Never use your
bare hands for searching for leaks. Use a piece of
timber or cardboard for locating leaks. Tighten all joints
to the recommended torque. Replace components
when any of the conditions listed below is detected:
                                – End valves are damaged or leaky.
                                – Outer covers are chafed open.
                                – Wires are bare.
                                – Outer covers are bloated.
                                – Moving hose sections are bent.
                                – Outer covers have embedded reinforcements.
                                – End valves are mislocated.
Ensure that all clamps, protective guards and thermal
shields are properly fitted. During machine operation,
this will contribute to avoiding vibrations, friction with
                              other parts and excessive heat.
