The murmur of ideas bouncing back and forth as we explore the world together.
Even in lessons
you've taught a million times, you may still discover amusement and little moments of surprise.
But have you ever wondered why other leaders can still take advantage of their own nation? We
see it in the unequal distribution of resources, in the suppression of voices, and in the abuse of
power. Should we make a difference? Should we speak out against them? Shall we?
Knowing that corruption undermines the very foundations of our democracy and erodes trust in
our government. It steals resources from the people, and hinders economic growth and
development. It hinders progress and creates a culture of cynicism and apathy.
But we must not be discouraged by these injustices. We must not give up on the fight for a more
just and equitable society. Because the truth is, change is possible.
We have seen the effects of corruption in many parts of our own country. We have seen
politicians line their pockets with public funds, while the people suffer. We have seen entire
economies brought to their knees by corruption, and the lives of millions of people made
immeasurably worse. But we must not despair. We must not give up on the promise of a better
future. We should remember that we have the power to change things for the better.
As citizens, we have a duty to hold our elected officials accountable. And to demand
transparency and integrity in government. We must speak out against corruption and support
those who stand against it just like how the former VP Leni Robredo encouraged the youth.
As a matter of fact, the Vice President's Office has consistently received the highest auditing
rating from the Commission on Audit during the past three years. This starkly contrasts with the
warning signs that the COA highlighted in its 2020 review of other ministries under the Duterte
administration.
Having served admirably as vice president, Robredo has proven that she has the skills, political
wisdom, and dedication to helping the people that would make her an excellent presidential
candidate.
If she had been elected, it would have marked a turning point in the fight against COVID-19, the
Philippines' mounting debt, which is now estimated to be P11.64 trillion ($34 trillion),
incompetent leadership, the deteriorating relationship between the Senate and the Executive,
the House of Representatives subservience to the Executive, and the general descent into hell
that the nation is going through. In the face of inefficiency and corruption in the government,
Robredo's campaign offers reform and optimism. She'll continue to astound everyone. Then why
not Leni?
Well, we all have the opportunity to do our part to create a culture of integrity. We must lead by
example. And we must ensure that we strive to be honest, transparent, and accountable in our
own lives.
We may sometimes feel powerless in the face of political injustice. But we must remember that
together, we are a force to be reckoned with. We must come together, and use our collective
voice and power to demand change.
No matter how entrenched it may seem. We must support those who are marginalized and
oppressed, and stand in solidarity.
And as a symbol of hope for many Filipinos. The color pink symbolizes that Filipinos are united
as one, the color of the groundswell of volunteers. I witness our country from all angles, and as I
move closer, everything becomes blurry for the future. Have you noticed it? It is not about
money or other material things but about standing for good governance and vouching for my
Liwanag sa Dilim.
We must also remember that good governance is not just about the actions of the government,
it's about the actions of society as a whole. It's about building strong and vibrant communities,
where people come together to help one another. It's about fostering a culture of accountability,
where everyone is responsible for their actions and decisions.
So let us work together to create a society where good governance is the norm. A society where
the government serves the people, and the people are able to live in peace, prosperity and
freedom. The change starts with us, and we should speak out against corruption. Shall we?
