Preface

Welcome to the world of P.E! I hope you are all sporty!

Physical education is as important as the other academic

subjects. It is essential for the development of the motor skills and
reflexes. Good body movements are either improved or developed for
a healthier body and for it to function well. Body coordination is also
developed through the proper stretching and the fundamental
mechanics of physical education. Healthy and well-coordinated body
movements help improve the over-all thinking ability of the students
making them better students in the classroom. Physical Education
teaches the students the value of activities for health, recreation and
social interaction.

This course is designed to provide physical activities for

the purpose of optimizing health and wellness. It will emphasize on the
development and the advancement of skills in playing and officiating,
inculcate enjoyment, values, etiquette, and teamwork in sports.

At the end of this course, students are expected to intensify

competency in utilizing proper skills for different sporting events as a
lifelong recreational activity to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

“Don’t stop when your tired, stop when you’re done. “

Badminton first appeared in

the Olympic Games as a
demonstration sport in 1972
and as an exhibition sport in
1988. At the 1992 Games it
BADMINTON became a full-medal Olympic
sport, with competition for
men’s and women’s singles
(one against one) and
doubles (two against two).
Mixed doubles was
introduced at the 1996
Games.

The game of
badminton originated in Siam,
China over 2,000 years ago. It
was brought to England in 1870
and was played somewhat like
tennis.

History

The roots of the sport can be

traced to ancient Greece, China,
and India, and it is closely related
to the old children’s
game battledore and shuttlecock.

from poona, which was played by
