In SAP FICO, integrating the Financial Accounting (FI) and

Materials Management (MM) modules is crucial for streamlining

procurement and inventory management with financial processes.
Below are the configuration steps for FI-MM integration:

1. Assign Company Code to Plant

- **Path:** `SPRO -> Enterprise Structure -> Assignment -> Logistics -

General -> Assign plant to company code`

- **Purpose:** This links a plant (from MM) to a company code (in FI),
allowing material transactions to be recorded in financial books.

### **2. Define Valuation Grouping Code**

- **Path:** `SPRO -> Materials Management -> Valuation and Account

Assignment -> Grouping Code for Valuation Area`

- **Purpose:** The valuation grouping code helps group together plants

that share the same set of accounts for material valuation.

### **3. Define Valuation Classes**

- **Path:** `SPRO -> Materials Management -> Valuation and Account

Assignment -> Account Determination -> Define Valuation Classes`

- **Purpose:** Assign material types (raw materials, finished goods) to

appropriate valuation classes, linking them to general ledger accounts.

### **4. Configure Automatic Postings (Account Determination)**

- **Path:** `SPRO -> Materials Management -> Valuation and Account

Assignment -> Account Determination -> Configure Automatic Postings`

- **Purpose:** Define how specific transactions (goods receipt, invoice

verification, etc.) in MM post to the corresponding FI accounts.

### **5. Define Account Group for Vendor**

- **Path:** `SPRO -> Financial Accounting -> Accounts Receivable and

Accounts Payable -> Vendor Accounts -> Master Data -> Preparation for
Creating Vendor Master Data -> Define Account Groups with Screen
Layout (Vendors)`

- **Purpose:** Determines which fields are mandatory or optional for

vendor master data and helps categorize vendors.

### **6. Assign Vendor Number Ranges**

- **Path:** `SPRO -> Financial Accounting -> Accounts Receivable and

Accounts Payable -> Vendor Accounts -> Master Data -> Assign Number
Ranges to Vendor Account Groups`
- **Purpose:** Assigns specific number ranges to different vendor
account groups for better master data management.

### **7. Set Up MM-FI Integration for Goods Movement**

- **Path:** `SPRO -> Materials Management -> Inventory Management

and Physical Inventory -> Goods Movement`

- **Purpose:** Ensures that inventory movements are posted to the

correct financial accounts, including GR/IR clearing accounts.

### **8. Maintain MM Movement Types**

- **Path:** `SPRO -> Materials Management -> Inventory Management

and Physical Inventory -> Movement Types`

- **Purpose:** Define the movement types for various stock transfers

and how they post financial entries in FI.

### **9. Maintain Purchase Organization for Company Code**

- **Path:** `SPRO -> Enterprise Structure -> Assignment -> Materials

Management -> Assign Purchasing Organization to Company Code`

- **Purpose:** Links the purchasing organization in MM to the company

code in FI.

### **10. Maintain GR/IR Clearing Account**

- **Path:** `SPRO -> Financial Accounting -> General Ledger Accounting

-> Business Transactions -> Open Item Clearing -> Maintain Clearing
Accounts for GR/IR Clearing`

- **Purpose:** Set up the GR/IR clearing account, which is used to track

differences between goods received and invoices received.

### **11. Set Tolerance Limits for Price Differences**

- **Path:** `SPRO -> Materials Management -> Inventory Management

and Physical Inventory -> Goods Issue/Receipt -> Tolerance Limits for
Price Differences`

- **Purpose:** Configure tolerance limits to allow for small variances in

prices between purchase order, goods receipt, and invoice receipt, to
avoid blocking.

By following these steps, the FI and MM modules can effectively

communicate and exchange data, enabling smooth financial and materials
management processes.
