Problem Solving

1. Mark has a credit balance of Php 3000 in Aling Lina’s sari-sari store the scholarship allowance
of Php 2500 has been released. How much is his balanced from the store if he will pay all his
money?

Remaining balance = Credit balance – Total money


Remaining balance= 3000 – 2500 = 500

So after paying his Php 2500, Mark will have a balance of Php 500 left in the store

2. Joseph and his parents used to work in a sugarcane plantation as laborer. Joseph needs
money for his PTA fee that amounts Php 500. His parent decided to make a Cash Advance
from their pakyaw job. There were granted of an “ intrisipo” amounting of Php 1500. If they
receive Php 5000 from their pakyaw,how much will they receive at the end of their work?

Remaining amount = Total amount – Cash advance

Remaining amount =5000 – 1500 = 3500

So after working the cash advance payment, Joseph and his parents will receive Php 3500 at the end
their work.

Monday loss + Tuesday loss + Thursday loss = Angela total loss

2. Peter weights 156 pounds but he would like to join in arnis in a lower weight class. He loses 4
pounds one week,gains back 2 pounds the next, loses 5 pounds the third week and loses 3
pounds the fourth. How much does peter weight now?

Peter weight : 156 pounds

Week 1 : Loses 4 pounds : 152 – 4 = 148

Week 2: Gains 2 pounds :148 + 2 = 150

Week 3: Loses 5 pounds: 150 – 5 = 145

Week 4: Loses 3 pounds : 145 – 3 = 142

Peter weights now is 142 pounds.
