space offers ample room for students

to partake in various outdoor

activities. The color palette

predominantly consists of vibrant

green and a somewhat weathered off-

theme of green and off-white, which

blends in with the surrounding

grass. Regrettably, the presence of

dense foliage somewhat masks the

presence of flowers, reducing their

visibility and overall appreciation.

Upon initial inspection, the buildings

appear to be in good condition,

showing no visible signs of imminent

collapse or structural deterioration.

CLASSROOM FACILITIES MATRIX

Be guided by these tasks as you do your observation. Then accomplish the

matrix to record your data.
Classroom Facilities Description
(location, number, arrangement,
condition)
1. Wall Displays Inside the classroom, there are

currently no display boards available

for use. This makes it difficult to

showcase important information or

announcements. However, to help

manage schedules and reminders,

there is a calendar positioned on the

right side of the front door. This

calendar serves as a helpful tool for

students and teachers to stay

organized and keep track of important

dates.

2. Teacher’s Table In the classroom, there are two

distinct tables designated for the

teachers. The first table is situated at

the front and is used during class

hours for teaching purposes. The

second table, positioned at the back

of the room, serves as the adviser's

table and resembles an office desk.

3. Learner’s Desks In certain classrooms, a portion of the

students have the privilege of utilizing

armchairs for their writing and reading

activities, while others must make do

with the limited supply of wooden

tables and chairs. Due to the high

demand for armchairs, not every

student can access them for their

academic pursuits. It is worth noting

that the armchairs, tables, and chairs

currently in use are all in good

condition.

4. Blackboard At the front of the room, there are two

boards available for use. The

whiteboard is designed for use with

markers, while the blackboard is

meant for chalk. Both boards provide

plenty of space for writing and

illustrating lesson-related material.

5. Learning Materials/Visual Aids In addition to a conventional

chalkboard and a well-kept

whiteboard, the space has a television

that is only used for presentations.

6. Heating, Ventilation and Air- The classroom is equipped with four

Conditioning (HVAC)
electric fans placed strategically: one

on the left side, one on the right, one

mounted on the ceiling, and one at

the top of the blackboard. Additionally,

there is a water dispenser available

for the convenience of both the

students and the teachers it is located

near at the adviser’s table.

ANALYZE:
1. How do the school campus and the classroom in particular impact the
learning of the students going to school? What are your conclusions?

The learning environment plays a big role in a student's growth and

academic performance. A clean and comfortable space helps keep students
interested and feeling good. Poor hygiene, on the other hand, can affect their
health and even cause illness. That's why it's important to maintain a healthy
and safe space for learning.

A school should also create a supportive atmosphere that allows students

to develop their talents. Students who are skilled in areas like art, dance, or
music need spaces where they can practice and improve. Overall, the school
environment has a major impact on students' learning and personal growth. A
school should be a welcoming place where students feel at home, helping
them stay engaged and motivated to learn.

2. How does this relate to your knowledge of child and adolescent development/
How does this relate to your knowledge of facilitating learning
My understanding of child and adolescent development has greatly
informed my observations in the school setting. Being aware of the different
developmental stages is key to recognizing how students behave, interact
with their peers, and respond to their environment. Observing students
firsthand has deepened my insights into their learning processes, social
interactions, and how they adjust to the demands of school. This experience
highlights the importance of considering developmental stages when planning
and implementing effective teaching strategies.

In terms of facilitating learning, my observations have also given me a

stronger appreciation for the teacher’s role. I noticed how teachers employ
various strategies to engage students, meet individual learning needs, and
maintain a positive classroom atmosphere. The learner-centered approach I
observed places students at the heart of education, helping them develop
skills essential for their future careers. Teachers are trained in this approach
to better support their students and enhance the overall learning experience.

REFLECT:
1. Would you like to teach in the school environment you just observed? Why?

Having the school nearby has made it easy for me to visit regularly and
observe the daily routines and interactions. The school's welcoming
atmosphere creates a positive space for both learning and teaching. The
greenery around the campus adds a calming effect, making the school a
peaceful place that reduces stress and promotes relaxation. This natural
setting not only makes the environment comfortable but also likely helps
students focus better.

I was also impressed by how the teachers and students interacted. The
teachers showed professionalism and genuine care for their students, which
created a respectful and supportive classroom atmosphere. The students
were polite and engaged and demonstrated a strong sense of discipline and
cooperation. This mutual respect between teachers and students enhances
the learning experience, making the school a place where both education and
personal growth thrive.

2. What kind of school campus is conducive to learning?

I think the school campus is a good place for learning because it provides
a safe environment for both students and teachers. Safety is a priority, as the
school has secure entry points, monitors the campus regularly, and ensures
that all areas are supervised. This makes it a comfortable and worry-free
place to focus on learning.
Besides safety, the campus is well-ventilated and clean, which creates a
healthy environment. The classrooms are designed to help students
concentrate by providing fresh air and reducing fatigue. Additionally, the
school maintains cleanliness through waste disposal systems and regular
upkeep. The campus also has well-maintained facilities like libraries, and
laboratories, which offer the necessary resources to support both students
and teachers in their learning and teaching needs.

3. What kind of classroom is conducive to learning?

A conducive classroom environment prioritizes both the physical and

emotional well-being of students. It is important to create a space where
learners feel safe and free from any harm, whether physical or emotional.
This sense of security helps build a positive learning atmosphere, allowing
students to focus on their studies without being distracted by concerns for
their safety. Proper ventilation is also necessary to keep the classroom at a
comfortable temperature, ensuring that students aren't bothered by heat and
can focus better, which leads to improved learning.

The arrangement of seating and tables also plays a key role in shaping a
productive learning environment. Comfortable seating and enough workspace
enable students to participate in academic tasks like reading and writing more
effectively. This physical comfort supports their ability to learn by reducing
strain. Additionally, having display walls, like bulletin boards, filled with
educational materials or student work, provides extra learning resources. By
keeping these displays updated, teachers can continually expose students to
new ideas and reinforce classroom lessons, making the learning process
even more enriching.

4. Write your additional learning and insights here.

A conducive learning environment begins with having a well-maintained
school campus and properly organized classrooms. A safe and secure
environment is essential for the physical well-being of teachers and students
and for fostering a sense of belonging and trust. When students feel safe,
they are more likely to engage fully in their learning experiences, take
intellectual risks, and develop their capabilities and abilities. A well-structured
school environment supports the holistic development of learners, enabling
them to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.

Since a school is a microcosm of society, it plays a critical role in

preparing students for their future roles as active members of the larger
community. Within the school setting, students learn how to navigate social
relationships, collaborate with peers, and understand their responsibilities as
individuals. Their interactions and experiences at school help them
understand the dynamics of societal roles and the importance of contributing
positively to their community. By providing opportunities for students to
engage with others and practice these roles, the school environment equips
them with the skills and values necessary to thrive in society.
