Airline Security

This document discusses safety and security procedures that have been implemented by airlines and at airports. It outlines three key areas of focus: security precautions to prevent terrorism, technological safety measures to address potential issues during flight, and training employees to respond appropriately in emergency situations. Over the years, the various screening processes, inspections, and employee training protocols that have been introduced at airports and on planes have helped reduce security threats and issues. While increased security has improved passenger comfort and protection, it has also raised costs for the industry.

Abstract:

There is a growing trend in airplane security has been occurring in todays airports, due to many issues that are evidently rising. This paper includes information on those issues such as security precautions, technological issues and terrorism. It also covers the safety procedures used when avoiding these concerns.

Airplane security has increasingly become an important issue in airports around the world. Many problems have been emerging, and safety procedures are being introduced to solve those concerns. The safety procedures that have been incorporated in todays airlines and airports are very efficient in fixing certain issues as they have been developed specifically to reduce those issues. Over the years, the security measures that have been taken in airports have shown results in reduced issues in such areas as terrorism, technological problems and safety precautions. The precautions used to ensure the safety of passengers on an airplane are related to terrorism, technological errors and security measures. Protection of passengers from terrorism is ensured through background checks and inspections of the airplane. Background checks of employees that are working on the airplane are crucial, to determine if they are trustworthy and reliable workers. As well, inspections of the airplane to trace any weapons or harmful objects are consistent before flights, for security and safety measures. As for technological concerns, a technical staff takes safety measures to inspect the airplane for any errors that could occur during flight. The staff examines and fixes any issues that have emerged, so that the flight can transpire smoothly. Also, if an issue was to occur during flight, the staff working on board are trained to carry out safety procedures for passengers. The employees ensure that the passengers know basic safety such as the use of seat belts, oxygen masks and life vests. These items can help prevent any major issues and also save the lives of passengers, in the event of a crisis. With these safety procedures in place, airlines can ensure the comfort and security of passengers on their airplanes. However, to prevent those threats, safety measures are first taken in the airport. Passengers need to go through a standard security lane, and people who are on government checklists and have advanced information need to go through a special security exam, before boarding. All passengers then go through the physical checkpoint to ensure that they dont have

any weapons and objects that can harm other people. Carry-on luggage is gone through x-ray technology that identifies any liquids and electronic objects. As for other procedures, there is metal detection, shoe scanning, and using dogs for drugs. Until Sep 11th, 2001, the security checks werent like today; people could bring water bottles on the airplane. However, after the incident, liquid limitation has become so strict, along with other belongings such as jewelry, medicine and personal care items. Antony Tyler, the director general of the Air Transport Association (IATA) states this has come at a great price in terms of passenger convenience and industry costs. (Security 10 Years After, 2011). Security reinforcement would lead the safety on the airplane. The security measures taken in both airplanes and airports are crucial in reducing issues that concern passengers. The measures taken in airports relate to the safety of passengers that board the airplanes, because without the safety inspections on ground, passengers could be in danger on board. As well, the safety inspections on board ensure the comfort of the passengers. The areas of inspection in airplanes and airports are showing success in reducing those issues, as so many steps are taken. Without these steps, many passengers would feel unsafe boarding the airplanes, leading to a lower tourism demand. In conclusion, airport security is growing to ensure the comfort of passengers so that they can fly with ease. Without these precautions taken, many passengers would feel uncomfortable and choose not to fly. The safety measures that have been enforced are also efficient in reducing issues that can occur on ground as well as on board. Over the years, these precautions have been successful in decreasing issues in airlines.
