Part 1

1.What do you often do at the weekend? why/who/when/where..

Well, nothing much. Since during the weekday, I am always up to my ears with working
stuff so at the weekend, I often spend most of time listening to music or hanging out with my
friends so that I can let off some steam.

2.What did you usually do at the weekend when you were a child?
to be honestly, im so proud of my childhood that I could possess a plenty of interesting
things... playing tradition

3.What do you think your weekends will be like in 10 years’ time?

To be honest, currently, I usually spend my weekends playing computer/video games with
my friends but I think I may have to change my routine in the future. Because, you know,
playing games is not really good for my eyes and my physical health, so, I’d like to take up
some sports or engage in kinda (kind of) outdoor activities.

4.Do you want to change what you do with your weekends?

Currently, i dont want to change anything/i’m fine with what Im doing right now.
But talking abt the future, I can’t sure that I will keep my current routine, maybe, I may take
up some sports/spend more time with my family…

5.What do other people in your hometown usually do on weekends?

3
Giảng viên: Vũ Ngọc Diệp

I think it varies from person to person, I mean, the elderly usually spend their weekends
playing chess with other neighbors or staying at home with their grandchildren. Meanwhile,
youngsters (young people/children) often gather at the cafe or spend time riding their bike or
doing exercises…

2.What did you do in the evenings in the past?
3.Do you want to try anything new in the evening?

SAMPLE ANSWERS

1.Well, nothing much. Since during the weekday, I am always swamped with working stuff
so at the weekend, I often chill out by reading books or hanging out with friends to catch up
with them. From time to time, I go to my yoga class to let off some steam.

2. I can not remember that well but to my vague memories, I still had to study even at the
weekend, yeah, even though I was quite small at that time, about 6 years old. My mother is a
teacher and I was made to study day in, day out = (over and over again)

3.Well in the next 10 years, a lot of things can happen but I can imagine myself chilling out
by the window full of sunshine with a book and a hot cup of coffee beside me. I think no
matter what happens, the weekend is the time for relaxing and I have no intention to change
this.

4.Yeah, I did think about it. I am thinking about taking up a sport like badminton or
volleyball, which will help to enhance both my mental and physical health conditions

5.There are lots of people in my hometown, so it can be quite hard to find a common
weekend activity among them. I guess most of them just stay at home and enjoy family time
because there are not many entertaining facilities in my small hometown for people to go to.

and end up with experimenting with different recipes in my kitchen. (1)
Actually, I chose to take up cooking for several reasons. First, it gives me a sense of
accomplishment when I can prepare a delicious meal from scratch. And yeah, as I
mentioned earlier, cooking helps me to relax and destress after a busy week. It may sound
strange but I find the process of chopping, stirring, and tasting food quite meditative.

Well, I have been a big fan of football since I was a child, so one of my favorite weekend
activities is playing soccer. I started doing it when I was about six years old, mainly because
it was a popular activity back then among my friends, and I wanted to join to have fun with
them. Currently, we often organize matches together every Sunday night.

I like playing soccer because it gives me a feeling of enjoyment and happiness when i score
and it is also a great way for me to stay healthy/to keep myself in shape. Every weekend, my
friends and I often play soccer together and sometimes even organize competitive
tournaments. It gives me many different emotions → Whenever playing football, I can
experience different feelings, for example, I would feel extremely happy when my team win
the match, and conversely, when we lose, I will definitely feel disappointed/sad. Those are
such interesting experiences that I always look forward to the weekend.

Nowadays, it seems that fewer and fewer children are participating in this type of outdoor
activity. With the rise of phones or televisions, many children prefer to play video games or
watch videos indoors. While technology has its benefits, I believe outdoor activities are
essential for physical health and social interaction.

To be honest, on weekends or whenever I have days off, I spend most of my free time playing
musical instrument, particularly the guitar, because I find it a very beautiful instrument that
can evoke a range of emotions and feelings.
To play the guitar proficiently, I must learn music theory and how to play the notes, then I
will search songs' chords on the web and play along to make melodies.
Actually, I chose to take up playing the guitar for several reasons. To begin with, it helps me
to relax and destress after a busy week. Well, as I mentioned earlier, playing the guitar also
helps me develop my creativity and self-expression. → the love/passion for music
So, I first started playing this instrument when I was 16 years old, my parents gave me a
guitar on my birthday, and honestly speaking, I was really struggled with it at first. But
after searching for some basic lessons on the youtube → i became more familiar with that,
About one week later/one month later, I could play a whole song quite well. Over the
years, my passion for guitar has grown, and I have honed my ability to play it well.
I think I will continue doing it for many years to come. Honestly, it has become an essential
part of my routine, from which I can derive immense joy and satisfaction. I also plan to
learn more music techniques to play the guitar more proficiently
