“LAKE TOBA”

Hello everyone!

Wait, wait.. I have something. Can you imagine that this fish could
turn into beautiful girl, like me?

Well, Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabaraktuh

My name is Shaina Hassya Meiretha. Today I’m gonna tell you guys a
legend of “TOBA LAKE”.

Once upon a time, in one village of north Sumatera there lived a poor
farmer named Toba. One day he went fishing. Luckily he got a big
golden fish. He carried it home happily and planned to cook it,
“Nanana..nana… i’m gonna eat well today ”

But, went he got home, the fish turned into a beautiful girl. He was
very shocked and speechless. “Who are you? Why are you suddenly
in my house?”

“Hehehe…. Pardon me if I surprised you Mr. Toba. But you took me

here. I was the fish. Now that I became a human being again. I would
like to thank you and I will be your servant to express my
gratefulness”.

Since that day the beautiful girl lived in Toba’s house. And no long
after, Toba fell in love with the beautiful girl, and after that they got
merried.

~ Cause for the first time in forever…~

The girl married with Toba on one condition, it was that he never tell
anybody that she was a fish. And Toba agreed on the condition.

Time flies by and a baby boy was born. Toba named baby boy
Samosir. But Samosir grow up to be a naughty and a lazy child. All he
did was play around, slept, ate, and slept again. Toba was very
disappointed, he hoped that one day Samosir will be a diligent boy.
Day in and day out, but Samosir never change.

One day Samosir’s mom forced Samosir to give his father his lunch in
the field.

“Sam… wake up boy…. go bring this food to your father at the farm.
He must be very tired and hungry now. Wake up, Sam..”

“I don’t wanna go mom, I’m so lazy..”

“No excuses, Sam, go bring this food to your father. He must be very
hungry. Go now go Sam..”

“Uh, okay mom”

Samosir went to the farm, but on the way Samosir felt so hungry, so
he ate his father’s lunch.

“May be it’s okay..”

When he got to the field, his father was very angry knowing that
Samosir had eaten his food.

“Sam, why you eat my food. You’re such a stupid and lazy lazy lazy
boy. Huh, no wonder you’re the son of a fish!”

Samosir felt so sad that he was a son of a fish and ran home crying to
his mother.

“Mom.. father said that I’m a son of a fish. Is that true mom?”

Samosir’s mom was shocked and felt so disappointed at Toba.

“Oh Toba, you break your promise. I can not live with you here
anymore. Now you have to face the consequences of what you did.”
Then Samosir’s mom quickly forced Samosir to get up the hill.

“Sam, go up the hill now sam. There will be a huge floof coming.. go
now sam, go..”

Samosir ran up to the hill, the sky was dark and thunder was struck.
Somosir’s mom jumped in to the river and became a fish again. Sadly
for Toba, he didn’t have time to escape, so he drifted the flood and
soon the whole area was flooded and now is called “Lake Toba”. In
the middle of the lake there was an island called Samosir island

Then, the day suddenlyturned into cloudy day , not long after the
rainpulled heavily and suddenly the thunder came. The rain poured
heavily for several days. The area was flooded. The area became a
big lake, called “Lake Toba”. In the middle of the lake there was an
island called Samosir island. Meanwhile Toba’s wife disappeared.

Until now people in Sumatera believe that the lake was the whole
body of Mr. Toba. And the island was the whole bode of Samosir.

Okay, that’s all for my story.. oh yeah.. there’s some morals of the
story, that we have to respect our parents never ever ever break a
promise.

I am Shaina from SMPIT Muslimah Sejati. Thank you for listening, see
you in the next story… Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi
wabarakatuh.
