Step 1:

First, the south and west of Ethiopia is lusher and greener than other parts of the country good
for algaculture. The basic climate of Ethiopia is that the east is hot, and the west is cool. The
country has lots of highway trough out the country and airports in big cities the biggest one is in
Addis Ababa. Ethiopia is the 2nd most populated country in Africa, and according to the data
about Ethiopia's total labor force (from worldbank.org) in increasing year by year. Also, a lot of
people in Ethiopia know how to make coffee, which means they have at least basic knowledge
of the production of coffee and can be quick learners. So, accessing to labor in Ethiopia is not a
real problem.

Step 2: Inquire, together as a group, and write another paragraph (150-250 words) explaining
what the natural resource is, where it comes from, why it is of value and any other TWO
factors about your resource that influenced your decision to select it. (1 paragraph per group)

Known for its unique wildness, Ethiopian coffee is rich in flavor with its complexity, spiciness,
booziness and acidity. It smells very pungent and very sweet. The taste of wine is relatively
strong. It tastes silky, sensitive and delicate; after tasting, you will be immersed in the
aftertaste. Generally speaking, the body of the coffee is not very strong. The coffee plant
originates from the 9th-century in Ethiopia in the region of Kaffa. In total, there are three
centers in Ethiopia that produce and sell coffee. Sidamo, Yirgacheffe and Harrar. The coffee
produced in these regions tastes different. (Feifei)

Step 3:

Our manufacturing area is in the southwest part of Ethiopia, because the land there is lusher,
greener, and more humid than the northeast parts of the country. To be specific we wanted to
build it somewhere in north side of a region called Sidama. The reason is because Sidama main
production is coffee and the people there is known as "the coffee people of Ethiopia", they
themselves create about 28% of the country's coffee output. According to Google maps, there
are a lot of lakes surrounding Sidama which mean there are enough water recourses. Also,
there is one highway that travels through Sidama to a city called Shashamena that leads to a
net of highways that connects to other main roads throughout the country, there also a road
that travel straight to the capital, Addis Ababa. Addis Ababa Bole int. airport in the capital, is
the nearest and biggest airport form the location of our industry in Ethiopia. As for the
employment, we can hire people form Hawasaa, Shashamena and other cities surrounding our
factory to work as the coffee planters and producers, and product testers. The qualifications for
them is that they need to know how to plant coffee and the techniques of making them into
the coffee we use for drinking and as for the taster they need to know the different between
good coffee and bad ones. We will hire the people in country we are selling the product to for
the advertising and selling employment. The qualifications for them is they need to know how
the advertise and sell the product, and take care of the complains that is sent by the customers.
The number of people working in the industry depends on how effective the production of the
coffee, at first won't hire too many employees because we are a new company. If the industry
grows we will hire more workers to our industry, but there will always more people to
manufacturing the product then selling them.

Step 4: Your industry will rely on other industries in the economy (system) to be successful.
Identify at least 2 other industries that will be important for your industry to be successful
and demonstrate the connection between the inputs, processes, and outputs of these
industry and your industry visually. You can represent the relationship in a flow chart, table,
mind map, etc.

Agriculture: Coffee is an agricultural product, and any coffee company's success depends
heavily on the quality of its beans. As a result, knowledge and comprehension of agriculture are
crucial, especially in relation to the production and processing of coffee beans. Working with
coffee farmers to make sure they employ ethical and sustainable agricultural methods as well
as obtaining premium beans from reliable vendors might help with this.

Hospitality: The success of any coffee business will also depends on the level of service offered
This implies that a thorough knowledge of hospitality and customer service is crucial. In
addition to developing a warm and inviting ambiance in coffee shops and cafes, this might
entail educating personnel in barista techniques, customer service, and menu creation.
(Longlong)

Step 5: You need to identify whether there is a market for your product, and where this
market is located. Are you going to sell it locally or are you going to export it? Decide as a
group which option you will choose then justify why in a 150–200-word paragraph. Be
specific. You will need to identify areas that have enough of a demand (people want to buy
your product) and provide examples of those areas. Remember factors such as transport,
import/export taxes, cost of labour, advertising, use of technology will have an impact on the
amount of profit you make. Remember the relationship between capital and profit. (1
paragraph per group)

Export

Step 6: How will you advertise to your buyers? Research a way you would advertise to ensure
you had enough buyers for your product – consider how could you use the quaternary sector
as well to support your marketing efforts. Write a 150 – 200-word paragraph. (1 paragraph
per group)

We use traditional marketing methods such as online sales, social media, street advertising,
print, radio and TV advertisements to attract customers to buy our Ethiopian coffee. At the
same time, we will also cooperate with some supermarkets and coffee shops to make our
Ethiopian coffee more familiar to customers, so that after a while, our Ethiopian coffee will also
have a fixed source of customers.
Step 7: Decide what percentage of the profit you will invest back into the industry (feedback).
That way the industry will grow, and you will earn more money, employ more people and
develop your country to improve its employment structure. Investors will also be more
willing to give you money if it is not a risk for them, i.e. They feel they will make money from
your industry and not lose money. Write a 50 – 100-word paragraph to explain why you
chose your percentage for feedback/re-investment. (1 paragraph per group)

20%-30%

Step 8: Create an employment structure graph (pie chart, divided bar graph, or triangular) to
put on your poster so that investors can see what percentage of people are employed in
which sector in your country/region. Remember you need to consider the level of education
in your country, you will need to research to find out the size of the different sectors. This will
be hand drawn and stuck onto your poster.
