When I joined the SCALE program, I was excited to think that the program we decided
is about making artworks. I was actually tempted to try arts before the program, especially
watercolor painting, I haven’t tried it as passionately as today since I didn’t have the materials
before. Though I have experience in traditional art before, I wanted to improve it and try
different styles too. I usually have a hard time making my imaginations a reality because I still
don’t know how to paint that well and the output is usually far from my expectations.
I actually was hesitant at first to make art as the main work of our program since I
thought to myself that my artworks were not as amazing as how I visualize it. I always think
that my artworks cannot be understood by others and it sometimes limits my imagination for
new ideas. But I soon realized that with this SCALE program, I would be able to improve the
things that I always thought that lacked. Due to the postings, I became more serious about
making art and always thought of how can I present my best painting every posting since it
needs to be attention-grabbing so that more people would be interested and see our reason
as to why we are making these kinds of art in the first place.
For now, I think that my skills are still the same and have not improved yet, but
improvement does not come immediately, so I will continue making art not just because I am
obligated to, but also for my own satisfaction. Although some people compliment me and
that’s a wonderful start since it boosts my confidence to create more while not thinking of
negative things.
