My first artwork was the piece titled “Sinking Cities,” which consists of hand holding a
melting iceberg while the drops of water are falling to cities. While making the painting, I was
thinking on how to present my best since I still don’t have much experience on watercolor. It
took me a longer time to complete my piece since every once in a while, I blank out thinking
about what to put next, are the elements already enough, or is it too much and many more.
Eventually, my piece was posted and I was satisfied with how it came out. It motivated
me to be more creative for the next theme and I was so excited that I already made the piece
for the next theme earlier than I expected.
As one of the editors, I then started editing the assigned images for it to be ready for
posting. As for editing, it was also an unfamiliar task for me because I usually don’t edit
pictures that much. Then the negative thoughts came again saying “Can I do this? Is this
good enough? Am I doing it right?” It was a good thing that the editing site was not as
difficult to understand. After editing I thought to myself that maybe I’m expecting too much
from all the new things that I will be experiencing, maybe I should relax a bit and watch how
this goes.
Overall, the posting for the first theme was smooth. Even though we encountered
problems, we overcame them without taking too much time. I just need to keep in mind that
do not expect a lot for the next activity so I will not be overwhelmed by the tasks and I should
relax a bit for my brain to properly process the assigned tasks.
