Note
It is recommended that you read the extra notes throughout the
pattern. There is many tips and information that will help you produce a
finished product most similar to the picture.
You can hide each starting tail behind your work during crochet. Ends of
yarn at the end of each part you have to sew in and hide inside the part
of reindeer with yarn needle.
Cast on single crochet either from the front or from the back for the
same pattern as in the picture. It's just a detail, but you can achieve a
slightly different pattern, see below.
When casting on from the front, you will achieve a slightly smaller size.
HEAD
Use the beige color of chenille yarn.
R1: 6sc into a Mr (6)
You crochet in the round. Mark the start of the round.
R2: Inc * 6 (12)
R3: (Inc, 1sc) * 6 (18)
R4: (Inc, 2sc) * 6 (24)
R5-R7: 24sc (24)

R19: (Dec, 4sc) * 7, 2sc (37)
R20: (Dec, 3sc) * 7, 2sc (30)
Place the eyes and stuff the head with hollow fiber. When stuffing,
insert the hollow fiber gradually and shape the head with your fingers.
Do not overfill the head so that it is not too heavy, so fill the head
appropriately.
Eyes: the placement is on the eleventh row, between the eyes is 4.8 cm
(approx. 10 sc).
R21: (Dec, 2sc) * 7, 2sc (23)
R22: (Dec, 1sc) * 7, 2sc (16)
R23: Dec * 7 (9)
We pull the remaining 9 stitches with a needle for a better effect.
You only stitch the front loop from the outside in and the inside out
see below.
When closing, continuously fill the head with hollow fiber as needed.
SHAPING OF THE EYE SOCKETS:
Using a needle and a new end of yarn of the same color (can be light
double thread or cotton yarn) as the head, make the eye sockets.
First insert the needle from the bottom of the neck towards the right
eye. You will make one stitch under the eye (roughly 1 to 1.5 cm) and go
back to the neck. Then you stitch in other place on the neck and do the
same for the other eye and go back to the neck where you have two ends
of the yarn left.
Pull both ends. This will create eye sockets. Then just make a simple knot
and hide both ends into the head.

EMBROIDER OF FACE:
Make one line above each eye.
You can use black chenille yarn like the one in
the picture or cotton (can be acrylic) yarn.
With white you make a line from the top black
line to the bottom of eye.
Using black cotton yarn, embroider the
eyebrows and the dash under the nose. The
comma under the nose is double.
First, try the placement of the nose.
For a detailed representation, follow the video above.
EARS
Use the beige color of yarn. Make two ears.
R1: 6sc into a Mr (6)
You crochet in the round. Mark the start of the round.
R2: (Inc, 1sc) * 3 (9)
R3: (Inc, 2sc) * 3 (12)
R4: (Inc, 3sc) * 3 (15)
R5-R6: 15sc (15)
R7: (Dec, 3sc) * 3 (12)
R8: (Dec, 2sc) * 3 (9)
Note: leave the end of the yarn longer if you are not using double sewing
thread or thin cotton yarn for sewing.
I recommend using chenille yarn only from the Himalaya brand.
Make the other ear in the same way and sew both ears to the head with
an invisible stitch or your favorite stitch.
Sew the ears through both layers of the ear in one row.
NOSE
Use red color of chenille yarn.
R1: 6sc into the Mr (6)
R2: Inc, 2sc, Inc, 2sc (8)
R3: 7sc, ss (8)
Fill the nose with a bit of hollow fiber.
The placement is on the second, third and fourth rows.
ANTLERS
Use brown chenille yarn.
The antler consists of two parts that you join together.

R2: Inc * 5 (10) R2: Inc * 5 (10)
R3-R7: 10sc (10) R3-R8: 10sc (10)
We connect both parts together. You can cut the yarn at the longer horn
(2). For the shorter horn (1), you will continue crocheting with the same
end of yarn.
You connect the two pieces to each other by inserting your hook into
stitch of both horns and making a single crochet. You continue to crochet
single crochets. So you make 20 sc (10 + 10).
R9: 20sc (20)
R10: (Dec, 3sc) * 4 (16)

BODY and LEGS
Legs
Start with brown color of chenille yarn.
Make four legs.
R1: 5sc into a Mr (5)
Crocheting in the round. Use stitch marker.
R2: Inc * 5 (10)
R3: Inc * 10 (20)
R4: 20sc using only back loop (20)
R5: 20sc (20)
R6: (Dec, 3sc) * 4 (16)
R7: (Dec, 2sc) * 4 (12)
After this row, you change the color and use a beige chenille yarn (the
same color as the head and ears).
You make the color change by not finishing single crochet with the
previous color, but with the new color.
You can follow the procedure given in the tips below.
This is an invisible color change.
R8: 12sc (12)
R9-R14: 12sc (12)
At the end of the last round, make a slip stitch on each leg and cut the
yarn.
BELLY
Use the beige color of chenille yarn.
R1: 6sc into the Mr (6)
R2: Inc * 6 (12)
R3: Inc * 12 (24)
R4: Inc * 4, 8sc, Inc * 4, 8sc (32)
R5: (Inc, 1sc) * 4, 8sc, (Inc, 1sc) * 4, 8sc (40)
On this oval, which is the belly of the reindeer, you will crochet the
limbs. You need to mark five eyes for each limb. Four stitches remain in
the front (chest) and four stitches in the back (butt), and six stitches
remain on each sides.
Mark it as shown.
BODY
You will then crochet all four legs to the belly. So you will need five
stitches on each leg. You make 1 sc in each stitch. For the legs, insert
your hook into the loop in the leg and the loop in the belly and make 1 sc.
A detailed description can be seen on the video, the link to the video can
be found below.
A connecting row is not counted as a row.

Tips
MAGIC RING:
After creating the magic ring, you will make chain one, see the
penultimate picture, and then you can start crocheting single crochet into
the magic ring over both threads, see the last picture. This is way how I
make the magic ring and first round. You can do it with your favorite way.
INVISIBLE DECREASE:
During decrease use just front loops.
Straight insert your hook into next front loop, then insert your hook in
next following front loop, grab the yarn, pull it through both loops. You
have two loops on your hook. Grab the yarn and pull it through both the
loops.
INVISIBLE COLOR CHANGE:
An invisible color change will achieve the desired effect as in the picture.
However, you can use the classic color change.
In the invisible way, you will crochet with both colors throughout the row
to the end of the row.
You start by ending the round with a slip stitch with the previous yarn
color and making chain one with the same color.
You insert your hook into the next stitch, grabbing the previous yarn
color, but finishing the single crochet with the new yarn color. You repeat
this until the end of the round, where you join the round with the slip
stitch.
SINGLE CROCHET – GRABBING YARN FROM FRONT OR FROM
BACK:
The way you grab a single crochet you achieve the desired pattern.
The picture at the top left uses the front grabbing.
The picture at the top right uses back grabbing. Below the pictures you
can see the location of the hook, whether in front of or behind the yarn.
Remember! If you will use front grabbing you will get always little smaller
project then you use back grabbing.
INVISIBLE STITCH (sewing an individual parts together):
It´s stitch which tighten both parts together firmly and it´s invisible.
Use pins with a large head or skewers to holding of both parts together.
Then you can start to sew. It´s better to use double sewing thread or
thin cotton yarn than chenille yarn. You can use also the end of chenille
yarn but I recommend you do it only with Himalaya brand. It´s the best
quality and you can be able to sew it together without problems.
Follow this video: https://youtu.be/vY3rxkif15s
THE FINISHING (THE CLOSING) WITH YARN NEEDLE:
Use a needle to sew and close the hole. It's a nicer way.
So you don't crochet the last 6 to 8 stitches. You cut the yarn and leave
the end of yarn a little longer.
Make a stitch from inside to the outside and then from outside to the
inside.
Go through all the loops as shown, but you use just the front loop.
ENDING OF THE YARN:
Just copy single crochets. Insert the needle from the top to the bottom
and repeat it three to four times. Be careful don´t tighten too much or
too little. Finally, lead the end of the yarn there where you will sew the
other parts.
