1. Summary
ARKEL-G&Z-Plus is a voice notification system designed for elevators. It notifies passengers the
name or the number of the current floor, out-of-service and overload status of the elevator. When
used as serial (CANbus) it also gives fire, earthquake, door opening/closing status and current
collection direction of the elevator notifications. Except for these warning/info announcements,
music playback feature is also available.

2. Configuration
Binary code, gray code, M1 counter and CANbus serial communication are available as input
modes. It should be specified in the “config.txt” file, G&Z-Plus board will be used in which system,
inside the “G&Z” folder of SD card. The content of the configuration file is as follows:

Set as above, G&Z-Plus board works in ARCODE system and when the elevator is out-of-service
this board gives out-of-service notification in every 60 seconds and when the car is overloaded it
gives overload notification in every 30 seconds. If the inputs or incoming data from CANbus stay
constant for 120 seconds, it stops playing music files. It passes to silent mode between 23:00 and
06:00 hours.

Configuration file may be created by “G&Z_CONFIG.exe” application inside the “G&Z” folder or

it can be created in a normal text editor (e.g. Wordpad) according to the following rules:

2.1 Operation mode

For M1 counter “MODE=M1”
For Gray code “MODE=GRAY”
For Binary code “MODE=BINARY”
For ARL500 “MODE=ARL500”
For ARCODE “MODE=ARCODE”

2.2 Announcement Repeat Intervals

OOSRT: Repeat interval for out-of-service sound “OOSRT=60”
OLRT: Repeat interval for overload sound “OLRT=30”
Repeat intervals should be given in seconds. If repeat intervals are set to “0”, it does not repeat
these sounds.

2.3 Standby Delay Time

SDT: Standby delay time “SDT=120”
Standby delay time should be given in seconds. If standby delay time is set to “0”, it plays music
files continuously.

2.4 Silent Mode (only works with CANbus)

SMST: Silent mode start time “SMST=23:00”
SMET: Silent mode end time “SMET=06:00”
It stops playing music and announcements by passing to silent mode if the system clock is between
the defined hours. Both values must be the same to disable the silent mode (e.g. “SMST=00:00”,
“SMET=00:00”).

3. Signals and Related Sound Files

All warning/info sounds and music files must be in “.mp3” format.

There is no limit adding mp3 files to the “Music” folder. Music files continue to play when there is
no warning/info message. Only 1 mp3 file should be added to warning/info folders because only 1
mp3 file plays for relevant warning/info announcement.

The default language of warning/info voices are set in Turkish. The language may be changed if
required. To do this, “Use Default Voices” tab of “G&Z_CONFIG.exe” application may be used.

3.1 The name or the number of the current floor announcements

When the elevator reaches the target floor (receives DD signal) firstly plays mp3 file inside the
“Gong” folder, then plays mp3 file inside the current floor number folder. For example, if elevator
is at the bottom floor, plays mp3 file inside the “1” named folder or if elevator is at 64th floor, plays
mp3 file inside the “64” named folder.

3.2 Out-of-service sound

When the elevator is out-of-service G&Z-Plus plays mp3 file inside the “Xservice” folder.

3.3 Overload sound

When the elevator is overloaded G&Z-Plus plays mp3 file inside the “Overload” folder.

3.4 PI1, PI2, PI3 inputs

When G&Z-Plus board is used with Binary code or Gray code or M1 counter systems, PI1, PI2, PI3
inputs will be used for extra notifications. It plays mp3 file inside the “PI1” folder while PI1 input is
active, plays mp3 file inside the “PI2” folder while PI2 input is active, plays mp3 file inside the
“PI3” folder while PI3 input is active. (active: 1000 -> 100)

3.5 Fire warning (only works with CANbus)

When the elevator state is fire mode G&Z-Plus plays mp3 file inside the “Fire” folder.

3.6 Earthquake warning (only works with CANbus)

When the elevator receives earthquake signal G&Z-Plus plays mp3 file inside the “Quake” folder.

3.7 Collection direction info (only works with CANbus)

G&Z-Plus notifies direction of elevator next target floor. If collection direction is down, it plays
mp3 file inside the “Next_Dwn” folder and if collection direction is up, it plays mp3 file inside the
“Next_Up” folder.

3.8 Door opening info (only works with CANbus)

When the car door-A opens G&Z-Plus plays mp3 file inside the “DA_open” folder, when the car
door-B opens it plays mp3 file inside the “DB_open” folder.

3.9 Door closing info (only works with CANbus)

When the car door-A closes G&Z-Plus plays mp3 file inside the “DA_close” folder, when the car
door-B closes it plays mp3 file inside the “DB_close” folder.

3.10 Jumper functions (only works with CANbus)

If one of the main controller or LOP/COP board programmable inputs is set as (JPR*) Jumper-* on
ARCODE/ARL500 parameter menu, G&Z plays mp3 file inside the “JPR*” folder while related
input is active. (*: 1, 2, … , 16) For example, if PI4 of main controller is set as (JPR7), G&Z plays
mp3 file inside the “JPR7” folder while PI4 is active.

3.11 Evacuation with backup power info (only works with ARCODE)
When the elevator state is evacuation with backup power mode, G&Z plays mp3 file inside the
“Evac” folder.

4. Firmware update
Firmware can be updated by version file inside the “Firmware” folder. If that folder includes newer
version than version in program memory, card will update itself. If G&Z-Plus works with Arcode
integrated elevator control unit, there is no need to add version files to “Firmware” folder. In
Arcode system, firmware update of all cards is performed via Arem hand terminal.

5. G&Z-Plus volume adjustments

Volumes of warning/info sounds(Voice) and music files(Music) are adjusted with two separate
audio setting potentiometer.

5.1 G&Z-Plus “MUSIC VOLUME” trimpot

Music volume can be adjusted via trimpot named as “MUSIC VOLUME”.

5.2 G&Z-Plus “VOICE VOLUME” trimpot

Voice volume can be adjusted via trimpot named as “VOICE VOLUME”.
