problem with that?
CARTER
But you afirm he’s still a scum.
JOHN
Okay, ‘Kay, Let’s calm down everyone. Deep breath, if I said
something I apologize that’ll do. Sofie, babe, continue what you
were saying please.
SOFIE
Thanks babe.
JOHN
(MOUTHES)
I love you
SOFIE
Anyways, I don’t know about you but I felt deeply sad and
touched by his words.
JOHN
Yeah, ol’ man Steve has bad ghosts I’m tellin’ ya. And some hard
past too.
ALICE
You are pathetic, you knew that?
JOHN
(Sarcastically, natural)

really care.
ALICE
Hey, I’m on it. Count me in.
CARTER
We need to make it. Let’s do it!
JOHN
Well. I mean, as I said, what’s the point. You’re not achieving
anything.
SOFFIE
John I need your support.
JOHN
And you’ll get it. Just not in this.
ALICE
I never thought I would say this but. We need you John.

INT. STEVE’S HOUSE. LIVING ROOM. DAWN
GENTLE MUSIC IS HEARD. There is a couch, a big couch with a
table… Everything is a mess. There is a slight smell of alcohol
and slight dirty smell. The cushions are all over the floor.
There are pills over the floor. And bottles, alcohol bottles.
Empty bags with white dusty residue. Some bags have some sort of
plants.
STEVE O.S
(SNIFS) Oh damn.
He is seen slowly walking, he gets the white dusty thing off the
couch. He sits down on his hand he has a sandwich. He leaves it
on the table. He grabs a bottle. He sees it is empty and throws
it away. He grabs another bottle the bottle is half empty, it
says “WHISKY”. He drinks from the bottle. STEVE looks different.
His hair a mess, he has beard. STEVE is depressed because of his
son’s death. He grabs a half empty plastic bag of “white dust”
and puts it inside the sandwich. MUSIC GROWS DARKER, GENTLY AND
SUSPENSEFUL. He takes a bite at the sandwich. His eyes are
tearful. He leaves the sandwich on the table again. He is
dressed in a nightgown, a white shirt, long sleeping pants and
slippers.
From the nightgown’s pocket he takes out a gun, MUSIC IS
COMPLETELY DISTURBING AND DARK.
STEVE
(GENTLE PURE SADNESS)
One shot, one shot to see you once more.
Slowly takes the gun to his head. Tears fall from his head.
HEART PALPITATIONS ARE HEARED. He SCREAMS. Throws the gun at the
TV which is in front of the table. He cries KNOCK KNOCK,
someone’s at the door.
STEVE
(VOICE BREAKS)
Coming, coming.
MUSIC STOPS
STEVE
(SNIFFS, SIGHS)
He gets up, wipes his tears. He gets to the door. Opens it. And
SOFFIE is at the door. She has a smile on her face.
SOFFIE
Hi Mr Steve.
STEVE
(Hesitation)
Morning?
SOFFIE
I am here because
STEVE
Im not taking any calls or meetings. So please go, leave.
He is about to close the door. SOFFIE stops the door from
closing.
SOFFIE
Wait! This is about your son. (Pause) And (pause) you too.
STEVE
(WITH A DISTURBING GLANCE IN HIS EYES)
Come on in. Then
She gets in. Makes a disgusting face because of the odor.
STEVE (CONT’D)
I must say I’m sorry for the mess. I wasn’t expecting any
visitors.
SOFFIE
Oh no worries… I came here because I thought ‘bout what you
said. Climate change and that stuff. And I want to make a
change. And I…
…She looks down. She sees the broken T.V and the gun laying on
the floor.
SOFFIE (CONT’D)
(DISTURBED, PREOCCUPIED)
Steve what were you doing?
STEVEN hurries to grab the gun.
STEVE
Nothing, nothing…
SOFFIE
(GENTLE)
Hey, its okay (PAUSE) tell me about it.
STEVE puts the gun on the table, they sit down. STEVE starts
crying.
STEVE
(CRYING)
My son, my son!
SOFFIE
(GENTLY)
Hey its okay. Shh, shh. (Whispers)
STEVE
I want to see him. I want to see him again.
MUSIC IS SAD, DRAMATIC. He covers his face with his hands.
STEVE (CONT’D)
My son! (SOBS) My son!
I’ve done things to see hm.
The bottles and drugs are shown rapidly.
STEVE (CONT’D)
(CRYING AND SOBBING)
I’ve talked to him. (PAUSE) I’ve talked to him, but he never
answers.
(SOBS) I miss him, I fucking miss him. Screw it!
He grabs the gun stands up puts it in his head.
SOFFIE
(DISTURBED, UNCALMED)
Hey, hey. Stop! You need to think!
STEVE (CONT’D)
(CRYING, YELLING, SOBBING)
Give me three reasons! Three fucking reasons for not ending it
all now!
SOFFIE
Because
STEVE
(YELLING, CRYING, SOBBING)
See, you don’t have ‘em. You don’t know what it is like.
Let me finish what I started. My suffering.
SOFFIE
(GENTLY AND ALARMED)
You will punish yourself? It was an accident. Maybe you could’ve
helped preventing it, but you don’t have to exile yourself. Do
it for the hope, that is like a tiny flame in the darkness,
Steve. It can flicker and almost die, but it can also grow into
a raging fire. You have the power to fan that flame and light
the way for others. You can't change the past, Steve, but you
can shape the future. Your pain can be transformed into purpose.
You can use your experience to help others who are struggling,
and in doing so, you can find meaning in your own suffering.
You're not alone, Steve. There are people who need you. Your son
would want you to live, to connect with others, and to find joy
again. Your pain could be a catalyst for change, Steve. Your
son's love is eternal. It's a part of you, and it will live on
through you. By continuing to live, you honor his memory and
carry his love forward.
Tears stream down STEVES face, he slowly and gently puts the gun
down.
STEVE
(SOBS)
Yeah, yeah. (CALMED) you have a point. I’m sorry for my drama.
But you must understand that this is painful.
SOFFIE
Yes, I understand, don’t worry.
STEVE
I’ll be in the bathroom, I’m gonna clean my face.
He slowly puts the gun in his pocket.
SOFFIE
Yeah, it’s okay.
INT. STEVE’S HOUSE. BATHROOM. MORNING

water. Cleans his face. Looks at his reflection. Takes a deep
breath, closes the water.

look very happy. She grabs one of him and JACK in a skiing suit
and on the snow.

He looks at the mirror, takes the gun out. Puts him on his head.
His hands tremble.

them. Picks up the cushions. BAM! A massive noise is heard.

runs while calling for STEVE. She gets to the bathroom and
freezes. She freezes in terror. She covers her mouth with her
hand. MUSIC GROWS SUSPENSEFUL.

bullet wound on his chin blood spurts out of it. The walls all
covered in blood. STEVE lies dead on the floor, the gun on his
right hand, the feet with no chance of supporting any weight.
His eyes have tears, they look without any life, his spark has
been taken. His right arm has a little bit of blood. His white
shirt has blood too.
SOFFIE slowly walks back, she recharges on the wall. DRAMATIC
PIANO MUSIC PLAYS, everything else is inaudible. She slowly
