Start by making a new file,

blue bottom on the top left.


Then, select custom.

In the setting box adjust the


settings. First the Width and
Height [ we are making an A3
portrait sheet ] ‘594 x
840mm’.

Using the scroll bar [scroll


down], include the margins
[12.7mm] and bleed [10mm].
Once done, click create.

So that we are working with


the same toolbars. Go to the
top bar, then press Window -
> Workspace -> press on
[Advanced].

Next, add some rulers to the


workspace to help align text
boxes/ image frames. Press
View on the top bar and
press show rulers [CTRL+R].
Now, we are going to create Title page.
First, we have to create a few
guidelines. If you click and hold on a
ruler [either the vertical or landscape]
and drag onto the workspace it creates
a guideline. These guidelines can be
snapped to with objects or textboxes or
image frames. If you click on a
guideline, the top toolbar changes to
show the dimensions of the guideline in
mm. This can be adjusted to whatever
precise dimension you want [more

Then, we are going to create


Text boxes. Press the ‘T’ Icon
[ Type Tool], move to the
workspace and click and to
create. Once you have
dragged the text boxes, you
can select and drag the grips
to resize the textbox.

Too add text, double left click


the textbox.

Then, to change the font or


size, double left click the text,
then right click to select the
font or size.
If you want to add a underline
on your text, click the T , and
to position you text. Go to
Properties on the left side and
you will see Paragraph to
adjust the position.

We will now create a Frame. The


frame icon is on the left side bar
and is highlighted and looks like a
square with a cross. Once
selected, click and drag on the
workspace. It looks like the same
icon and showing it’s a frame.

guidelines or you don’t have to

To add colour to your frame.


Select the frame and then look at
the top bar. Two swatch panel
icons appear, the top icon is to fill
the frame and the bottom icon is
to stoke the frame. I pressed on
Fill and selected a colour which I
colour coded it to yellow to show
that is where I will place my
image. If you want a different
colour you will need to create a

Too add a page, look at the top


bar and click Layout, select Pages
-> Add Page [CTRL + SHIFT + P].
Now we are going to create a
Content Page. You should now
know how to add text boxes and
change text format. To add
arrows or lines, on the left side
bar. You click / [Line Tool], then
go to Properties -> Stroke , to
change the type of line or change
how thick you want the line.

Too add a column, click Pages on


the left to select which pages you
would like to add columns in.
Then, look at the top bar and
click Layout -> Margins and
Columns. Once you have done
that, you can adjust the margin
or the number of columns you
would want on your page.

Next, to fill a textbox with


Placeholder Text. You need to
double left click the textbox, then
look at the top bar. Click Type,
select -> Fill with Placeholder
Text.

Finally, add a Showcase Page.


Using the skills taught above, this
has helped you to create
textboxes, frames, changing the
font and many more to make
templates.
