DATE: November 14, 2022

TITLE: Germination

AIM: To investigate the conditions necessary for germination.

MATERIALS:

seeds cotton
refrigerator oil
cupboard test tube
water

PROCEDURES:
1. In test tube 1 place a dry piece of cotton and 5 dry seeds cover it with a plug of cotton.
2. In test tube 2 containing boiled and cooled water, place 5 seeds. Cover the water with a
layer of oil.
3. In test tube 3 place 5 damp seeds on a damp piece of cotton. Place the test tube in the
refrigerator.
4. In test tube 4 place 5 damp seeds on a damp piece of cotton with air supply and warm
conditions.
5. For test tube 5 repeat step 4 but place the test tube in a dark cupboard.
6. Allow seeds in test tube 1-5 to germinate over a few days and note changes in appearance
of the seed.
7. Tabulate your observations.
