Title: Battery Connection Configuration for KTA50 Rental Generator Sets
Model(s) C1250 D2R
Purpose:
The following information provides details regarding the battery connection configurations
for rental generator sets powered by a KTA50 engine (the model listed above).
Batteries are heavy, always use the lifting/carrying handles where fitted and use extreme
caution when removing or fitting the battery. Failure to do so can result in severe
personal injury.
Ensure that batteries are connected correctly and that terminals are tightened securely.
Incorrect or loose connections may cause fire or battery explosion.
When fitting or removing batteries, check that the generator is switched off and that the
battery charger is isolated. When fitting batteries, always connect the negative ground
lead last. When removing batteries, disconnect the negative ground lead first.
Never lay tools or metal objects across the top of the battery. This can cause short
circuits and arcing that may ignite battery gases, causing explosions, resulting in personal
injury.
Use tools with insulated handles to reduce the risk of short circuits
Keep batteries upright to prevent spillage. Electrolyte is a dilute sulphuric acid that is
harmful to the skin and eyes.
Note: New lead acid batteries are supplied dry and will require commissioning. For
additional information refer to the battery manufactures instructions.
Note: Always wear appropriate PPE when handling batteries including, but not limited to:
gloves, eye-protection, protective clothing, safety footwear.
The battery connection configuration for generator set model C1250 D2R is shown in
drawing A032X293, components of which are shown in Figure 2 and Figure 3:
