The AIChE (American Institute of Chemical Engineers)
COMSATS Chapter was established in 2016 with the vision of
fostering a community of enthusiastic chemical engineers
dedicated to advancing the profession. Our chapter has since
grown into a vibrant hub of innovation, learning, and professional
development.
Our Events
We organize a variety of events throughout the year to engage our
members and the wider chemical engineering community. These
include ChemGames, a fun-filled series of physical games held
during Student Week at COMSATS; the Meet the Alumni Series,
where successful alumni share their experiences and career advice;
and Academic Workshops and Sessions , designed to enhance both
academic and professional skills.
Inter-University Events
Our flagship inter-university event is CHEMATHON, a
prestigious competition that brings together the brightest
chemical engineering students from across Pakistan. Since its
inception in 2019, Chemathon has become a hallmark of
excellence and collaboration.
Chemathon 1.0: Launched in 2019, marked the beginning of
this exciting journey, setting a high standard for chemical
engineering competitions.
Chemathon 2.0: Held in 2022, it expanded the scope and scale
of the event, attracting more participants and showcasing even
more innovative solutions.
Chemathon 3.0: This year, we are thrilled to host Chemathon
3.0, where talented chemical engineering students from all over
Pakistan will converge to compete, learn, and network.
We are excited to announce Chemathon 3.0, a two-day
event scheduled for 19th and 20th December 2024. This
prestigious competition will gather chemical engineering
students from universities across Pakistan, providing
them with an exceptional opportunity to interact,
collaborate, and showcase their skills. Chemathon 3.0 is
designed to foster innovation, teamwork, and excellence,
making it an unmissable event for aspiring chemical
engineers.
The event will feature five challenging and engaging
modules:
1. Brainstorm Blitz
2. AspenAce Challenge
3. Chemical Engineering Hackathon
4. ChemCrime Investigation
5. Chemstruction
Join us for Chemathon 3.0, and be part of a remarkable
experience that celebrates the spirit of innovation and
excellence in chemical engineering. This event promises
to be a unique platform for students to learn, compete,
and network with peers from all over Pakistan.
1. Brainstorm Blitz
This fast-paced module is essentially a buzzer round where
teams compete to answer questions on various chemical
engineering topics. It tests participants' quick thinking and deep
knowledge, providing an exciting and competitive environment.
2. AspenAce Challenge
This simulation competition allows participants to use either
Aspen Plus or HYSYS, depending on their convenience. Teams
will solve complex chemical engineering problems, optimize
processes, and demonstrate their proficiency in using simulation
software to address real-world challenges.
3. Chemical Engineering Hackathon
In this innovative module, teams will brainstorm solutions to
contemporary chemical engineering challenges and present
their ideas as start-ups. Whether tackling energy efficiency,
sustainability, or process optimization, participants will
present their business concepts, showcasing their creativity
and problem-solving abilities.
4. ChemCrime Investigation
This module involves the investigation of a real industrial
incident through a series of riddles and puzzles. Participants
will act as detectives, using their chemical engineering
knowledge to solve the case and uncover the root cause of the
incident.
5. Chemstruction
Chemstruction challenges participants to construct models
using simple materials like paper, cardboard, and straws.
Teams will be judged on their creativity, accuracy, and
presentation, emphasizing the practical application of
chemical engineering concepts in a fun and engaging way.
Registration Fees:
Per Team: PKR 5000
Team Size: Minimum 3 members, Maximum 5
members
Accommodation Charges:
Per Night: PKR 500 (includes breakfast)
Accommodation for Girls: Will be provided in
COMSATS Girls Hostel, subject to
availability.
Additional Charges:
Theme Dinner: PKR 1500
Refreshments: Will be served during the event.
